Help With Kelp *giggle*

Jodelle - I went to Amazon.com to look for Kelp. I am not sure which one to buy - the review on the liquid was telling how well her vegetables grew from using it, there are pill and powder forms - is there a particular brand that you buy or recommend?

I am planning my meals for next week also - I am wondering - some of the symptoms you mention regarding food allergies and carbs I have, more than one. I have insomnia but I always thought it was caused by something else. (I have GAD - an anxiety disorder, I use clean eating and exercise to control it and no meds) About how many weeks would you leave "gluten" out of your diet to notice if that was a cause - would you give it about a month?

Just want to say to you other ladies -- great questions!

Kelp

Hi, Annabelle- I use two different kinds depending on what I'm putting it in. When I drink I add liquid kelp to my water and I get the World Organics Liqui-Kelp Daily Iodine brand. When I cook with kelp I use the Now Foods 100% Pure Powdered Kelp and add it to fish, salads, and other dishes where I use certain seasonings because it actually adds a nice flavor. You can also make sushi rolls and wraps using Nori Seaweed and you will get the benefits from that too, or go out and have sushi if you like it. As long as you stay away from the fried rolls sushi can be good for you.
About the gluten...to really see if you are gluten sensitive or not, I would go without any products containing gluten (read read read your labels) for 7-14 days depending on how long you can last without it. But at least 7 days. Then slowly introduce certain foods containing gluten back in and if your symptoms reappear - you know your sensitive. To eat gluten free stick to lean proteins, veggies, fruits, beans, sweet potatos, raw nuts, brown rice, and gluten free grains such as armaranth, spelt, and so forth. It's very interesting actually to try new things with your eating and see what works for you. Try that first and see how that goes and if you still have the symptoms during the gluten free period let me know because there are few other culprits and solutions too.

Found it!! Thanks both the powder and the liquid - and it isn't expensive!! I made my meals for the week in the Nutrition part of this site - I have to play around a bit - my calories are higher but on some days not high enough. I know I will have to change it anyway, when I get back from the store I am probably going to change all my breads to potatoes or brown rice unless I can find some of those sprouted breads - I live in a VERY rural area - boonies for sure - which makes finding some things difficult. I used to make a once a month trip to a larger city to shop for things I can't get but since gas is so high and groceries too I try to get what I can here at home.

I will let you know how it goes - thank you!

Great! Just take baby steps in the right direction. It may be hard at first to get used to eating all those calories, but in the long run, I promise you'll notice a big difference in not only your clothes, but the way you feel too!
