Accurate calorie burn

I love having a heart rate monitor. I was using a cheap HRM that goes on the wrist. To get my heart rate , I had to push a little button. So every time I felt my heart rate change, I'd push the button. I was always amazed at how many calories I burned during a workout.

I bought a Polar T4 with the chest band and have used it twice. Man, according to this one, Im not burning nearly the amount of calories that the other monitor said I was. Using the chest band is supposed to be the best way to measure you heart rate and calories burned during a workout.

What are yall's thoughts on this?

From everything I have read the monitor with the chest strap is the most accurate. I had a cheaper band and chest strap(not polar) and it was telling me I was burning a ton of calories. When this broke I switched to a polar, and much to my dismay I wasn't burning as many calories. I think polar has the best reputation and is considered the most accurate.

I use a polar, and believe it to be accurate - I simply check it every so often (eg, at rest, at end of warm-up, after scissor, scissor, tucks (!!!!) etc) by taking my pulse manually. It's pretty accurate, although I get the odd rogue reading (230!)

I thought my old reliable polar from 11 years ago was broken, but once dh replaced the battery on the strap -it has one too!! It started working right again, but not after I rushed out and got another Polar on sale the T7 ! the good news to having two of them, is that I know that they're right.
Polar = reliable for me.

Hi Shereta, I have a Polar and like the other comments - Polar is the most accurate on the market. I believe you are NOW getting the true number of calories burned during your workouts. Again, Polar (with chest strap) is very, very reliable. Enjoy.
