? about a few exercise discrepancies

Hey SNM~

I know you are very busy but a few questions arose yesterday as I entered my 1 rep max tests and was hoping you could clarify.

Exercise #674 Front press 1.5 says dumbbell on the description but lists barbell as the primary equipment used and the photo shows a barbell. Which one do we use?

Exercise #690 Standing front press was listed as 21's in the pdf chart but not as such in the w/m list. Which one is it? I tested the exercise as 21's and if that is correct, do we enter 21 reps? That seems to skew the results.

Exercise #1052 DB Deadlift was not listed in the pdf chart but is showing up in the w/m list. Is that an addl one or does it take the place of one listed on the pdf chart?

Thanks!

JJ

JJ, I noticed the same thing about the barbell front press 21s. So I retested, doing a straight set of normal barbell front press and guess what.....my 1 RM is only 3# lighter testing it this way. (in other words, the first test I used a 45# bb and did a full set of 21 and my 1RM was 101#. I retested doing a normal set, using a 60# bb and did 15 reps and my 1RM is 98!) Go figure. But I agree......if you enter your 21 set rep count, that may throw things off? Not sure.

Same questions

I got so confused I just skipped these exercises. Hope for some clarification, or I'll just wing it during STS.

This is a barbell exercise. We've now corrected this in the database.

The 1RM calculator really will only work for a standard rep tempo, not for exercises using a rep pattern like 21's.

It just takes the place of the one in the chart.

Thanks!

JJ
