A sudden tummy

Hi -

Not Cathe, but thinking you might want to check out the books on Losing Fat after 40 by Dr. Pamela Peeke - she devotes a lot of information to the dreaded "meno-pot" as she calls it and all of the reasons we tend to carry more weight in the lower body as we reach middle age.

It can be any number of things - stress, cortisol levels, intra-organ fat (ew!), poor posture, loss of muscle replaced with fat that has to go somewhere... and there's no real flattering place to put it, really....

I really liked her book.

Hope that helps!

Of course a clean diet and a Cathe lifestyle is a really good start!

Dear Gettingfit:

This happened to me about 2 years ago. It was so unexpected/unexplained I went to the doctors. Nothing showed up in the blood tests, so I took it on my own and tried a supplement called DIM-Plus by Nature's Way. Within 2 weeks, I'd lost the bulge. I don't know why it ever appeared in the first place; I hadn't eaten any differently. But even though I don't take DIM-Plus anymore, the bulge has never come back. Somehow the DIM-Plus seemed to be the breakthrough for me. All it is is a supplement made out of the stuff that's naturally in cauliflower and broccoli. It's balances hormones somehow; even men can use it.

The best (cheapest!) place to buy it is Vitacost.com.
