A rewarding winter job, finally!!

For the last couple of years, I have been looking for a satisfying winter occupation to bridge the gap between my summer job and the winter months, and now have found it!!

I am going to volunteer at the nursing home where my mom is a patient!! She was in the recreation room playing bingo when last I visited her, and found myself helping her with the bingo cards when the director of recreation for the nursing home came over to me and introduced himself, and asked if I might be interested in volunteering, and I couldn't say yes fast enough!!

Although it isn't a paid position in the monetary sense, there are other ways to get paid, such as helping others, which I am always looking to do.

I had decided to teach cardio kickbox, but my spinal stenosis has put a headlock on that decision at the moment, but volunteering at the nursing home will fill the need that I have to do something rewarding!!

I probably had more fun with bingo that the residents did!! I am going to help them with their polar bear plunge in a few weeks!! At first thought, seeing my mom alfresco kinda gave me the willies, than I was assured they are only dipping their feet into an inflatable pool, fully clothed!!....whew!

Jerry,

You are going to feel so good about yourself. And be able to sleep at nights because you are helping people. I'm so proud of you. I use to take care of the elderly once a week. It's great to be able to volunteer and make a difference. Now I'm looking for another chance to volunteer, just don't know yet what it will be.

The idea is to die young as late as possible

Jerry, that is wonderful news. Maybe you can teach some kind of fitness class. There is a stretch class and a seated weight lifting class at my MIL's home.

Jerry, that's great and I think Robin might really be on to something good there. You have plenty of knowledge and our elder-persons can always use some healthy exercise. Best of luck to you!

I'm sure your work will be much appreciated. Many of our senior citizens are placed in homes and forgotten about. I'm sure your efforts will bring joy to them and many others as well. :)

My mother is also in a nursing home. I never thought about volunteering there! What a great idea!
