A question about periodization ...

Hi Cathe - I can't wait for your new tapes! Thank you so much for giving me something to look forward to when it comes to exercise. Its exactly what I need as I've been stuck in a rut. I think I'm close burnout (yet again) and have seriously started to look into ways to avoid that. I have heard and read a little bit about the periodization concept of training but don't really understand it. I was wondering if you or anyone from the educated crowd could translate how that could work using your videos. I need to put a stop to this pattern that is becoming a habit with me - doing too much and then spending too much time recovering. Thanks a lot.

Interested on your thoughts too

Cathe, I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts about it as well. I picked up a couple of good books after a thread at VF talking about it and I do find it pretty interesting. My general take on it..at least my feeling of the big picture..it seems to be planning rotations to avoid plateaus (also improving sport specific activities) by varying intensity/training??? Do you try to incorporate periodization in your own workouts..and do you keep it in mind when planning new series of workouts to film?
