A little road trip tip

Cathlete
Now that I know where the hotel is, which is like a mile from where I grew up (I'm still going back & forth whether or not to stay in the hotel--my dad lives right down the street so it seems like a waste of money, on the other hand I suspect I'll miss out on all the fun if I stay w/pops).

Anyway, there's a Sports Authority less than a quarter of a mile from the hotel in case you forget anything. Also there are like a zillion fabulous places to shop & I'd be happy to give you a tour of them. :) The Cherry Hill Mall is maybe 10 minutes away & it's one of the best malls on the east coast (OK now I have the Short Hills Mall which is probably THE best mall on the east coast but hey, I'm always up for a visit to my old stomping grounds).

So save your money & we'll go on a little spree, maybe on Friday. I'll be there Thursday night to visit dad so I'll probably check into the hotel first thing Friday morning. I'm trying to decide if I want to go to my old gym to work out or take a ride out to Cathe's for some heavy lifting that morning, but I suppose I have a little time to decide LOL.

As you can see, I'm a type A overplanner. :p

Hey Maximus,

Thanks for the info. about the shopping mall. I am glad to hear that there are things close by. I am not planning to rent a car, so I was hoping there would be things nearby. I won't be arriving until Friday after lunch.

I have never visited that part of the country before, so I am really excited (in addition to the excitement about meeting Cathe, of course!!).

Thanks again, Maximus!

YAY SHOPPING!!! SHOPPING SHOPPING SHOPPING!!!

You have no idea how much that excites me. You guys have a world more options there than we do. All those great things I see in American magazines mostly aren't available to me here, and most American companies don't send their full product line to Canada.

So yeah....

YAY SHOPPING!

:D

Oh yeah so what I was getting at in my post is maybe a little Friday afternoon foray to SA & the mall. I haven't been to the CH mall in at least 4 years & am dying to visit. I'm sure they miss me. Or my wallet LOL.

Shopping sounds awesome!!:7

Roomies (Lunacat, Materialsgirl, Allwildgirl): I am going to work on renting a car if that's ok with you. Let me know!

Angie

Sounds great, Angie! :)

SHOPPING! WOO HOO! YIPPEE!!

(I think Shelley may actually be obsessive about this shopping thing... ;) )

I'm really bad at shopping too, Luna. I always end up buying impulsively, getting stuff home and finding out it either goes with nothing at all that I already own, or that it only goes with the things I bought it with, or that I really look like a cow in it.:)

Angie,

I'm driving my car to the hotel. If you three don't mind being a little squished, I'm happy to cart us around. PM me to let me know how you're arriving (i.e. plane, train, etc.) and if you need a ride from the airport.

Same goes for you Emily! :)

I always wind up buying the same styles in the same colors so my wardrobe never really changes. Then when I buy something in a color I'm not used to (usually something bright) I never wear it because I think it looks weird on me!

Woo hoo! Shopping would be wonderful! I'm not sure if I can participate (we coordinators will most likely be putting together the finishing touches to a wonderful, and memorable, event). If I can't go, I'll be there in spirit!

Okay, now that we have the road trip schedule, when will we be fitting in the shopping spree? Friday before the "opening ceremonies"? That may not leave us much time, as some flights don't get in until later. We finish on Sunday at around 11 and my flight doesn't leave until 3:30. What about then? Saturday doesn't look to have one second to spare!

My flight arrives at 12:57 and I'm meeting up with the Chicago girls who arrive at, I believe, 3 p.m. Will that give us time?

Well, my flight arrives at 3pm - and Shelley, and I and a couple others were planning on carpooling together to the hotel (even though Shelley's flight get in a littler earlier, but she DOES have to make it through customs, and we're not sure they're going to let her in the country... ;) ). Soooo... Friday late afternoon would probably work, depending on what time the social thingy starts at the hotel.

Okay, I wasn't too upset about not going to the road trip, because I'm so new to Cathe and to you guys... but reading this post, I'm almost crying!! It sounds like you all will have so much fun, and I don't know ANYONE here that cares much for exercise, much less videos and weights, so this is making me feel so alone!!

I do really want you guys to have a great time, though. You deserve it!! Maybe I'll get to go to one in a few years. :(

Maximus,

I live right in the same area as your dad...maybe 2 miles from the hotels.

If it's been 4 years since you've been to the Cherry Hill Mall you are in for a VERY PLEASANT surprise. We have a brand new Sephora (just opened like this week). If you haven't been around the Moorestown Mall area, you will also find a Dick's Sporting Goods.

We just opened 2 new resturants in the area as well--On the Border & Macaroni Grill (almost within walking distance of the hotels).

Hope you all have a FANTABULOUS time!!!

Screw exercise, we're talking shopping here. ;-)

Shelley, if you get to the hotel at 3 we'll have plenty of time. That goes for the rest of you. I'm guessing the welcome party'll start around 6 at the very earliest, maybe even after dinner since there's no dinner scheduled. It's only 10 minutes to the CH mall, & less than 5 to the SA. But the CH mall is a must go for you Shelley, if you want a true American shopping experience. :)

Oh, speaking of dinner, I'll start a poll re. favorite food type & I'll pick us out a place if you want.
