A Happy Stray Cat Story

Well I have lived in my home for almost 11 years and we have the Best neighbors ever but they feed all kind of stray cats through the years. Well you know that when a female is in heat here come the boys then..... here come the babies so they have gone through many. We live on a fairly busy road and have 2 expressways not too far from us so getting hit is the big problem. Well, we left for Florida last year and came back for the summer and one of the mothers that they haven't seen in awhile starting hanging around again and would you believe this mom brought them to my home under my deck? so I started feeding them and well the little black one had a gouged eye it was swollen and had a hole in side of face. I immediately ached for the little bugger. We washed it and cleaned it up for him and the next day I told my sister call your friend that we know who is a vet and find out what she will charge for me to look at it. $20.00 so I took him.

It was a boy he was 4-5 weeks old and she said it looks as if a tomcat struck him with his claw swiped its nose and eye. She said it looks like hamburger but I will clean it out and give it a look. She gave me antibiotics, eyedrops and pain meds charged me next to nothing and waived office visit. She said to do all this for him start giving him kitten food. I will see him back here in a couple of days. I went and bought food for all of them made the decision to take mom and babies to shelter.

Took him yesterday to vet and he looks 100% better starting to look like an eye and might be able to save it just may not be able to see out of it. I decided to keep him. We named him Thunder and he is the most precious little guy ever. Before we head back to Florida he will get another ck up and first set of shots. He tested negative for Lukemia, he got worm meds and flea meds. She charged me nearly nothing again and she said when I get him fixed and front declaw she will just charge me minimal.

Isn't that AMAZING????? The shelter let me and my kiddos put mommy and babies in a cage together and kids got a tour of the facility and they got to see where they can play together if someone wants to adopt them and they have volunteers that take care of them and play with them and keep them fed and clean. Luckily no tears.

He loves being in the home. He has settled in nicely. We just love him.

Anyone else have a stray story to share?

Sounds like Thunder has had a rough start!

It's always good to hear good stories about rescued animals (and the story would be even happier for kitty if he were allowed to keep his claws. Check out here for info on declawing and alternatives: www.declawing.com ).

What a wonderful story! So many would just leave them and let them die of infection or starvation! It's so cruel! I'm glad you took care of them! Thunder sounds so happy!
