A good Newbie line up.....

Hi everyone! I notice on the forums that beginners ask the question "which DVD to buy" so that is why I have decided to through in my two cents. I am fairly new to Cathe and I have purchased just a few of her DVD's. I consider my self beginner/intermediate and I want to share a few tips on the one's that I have learned. I started out with BASIC STEP & BODY FUSION. BASIC STEP is a perfect intro to her moves and style. BODY FUSION left me winded before I could finish combo #3. I finally figured out that if I do combo #3 at a low impact pace (without the jumps) I can get through to the end. The add on's are great too. The second DVD I mastered was STEP BLAST. At first I struggled some to learn a few of the moves (reverse hop turn) but I have so much fun when I do this workout. Get ready to SWEAT when you do Step Blast! Third I learned CARDIO & WEIGHTS. Now beginners, don't get intimidated by some of the heavier weights the crew use, just do what I do; use only what you can handle (3 lb., 5 lb., etc). The moves are not hard to learn since you have mastered "step blast" and "body fusion". Fourth I learned HIGH STEP CIRCUIT. This one is nice because you are never really winded and are working out at a steady pace. I use 5 lb. weights on this one and a medium resistance band. You get a nice sweat and decent amount of weight training for toning. I use my Fanny Lifter box and it works just fine. I am very happy with the order in which I have selected my DVD"s. I love Cathe and her crew. I feel so much stronger and can handle more and more each time I do her workouts. My next DVD will be LOW MAX but will probably wait till summer to buy that one. I hope to be a little more conditioned before I give that one a whirl. Hope this helps all the Newbie's and happy exercising! Again that line up is:

Basic Step & Body Fusion
Step Blast
Cardio & Weights
High Step Circuit
Low Max

Good Luck,

Good job Yolanda.

I tried to talk my friend into buying Basic Step/Body Fusion as her 1st Cathe workout. Yet she wanted to borrow one of mine first. I loaned her Step,Jump and Pump and Cardio& Weights, thinking they would be a decent intro...she has done step before. She sent them back with a note that said "Ha Ha real funny"

I wish she had followed my advice...and yours!

Yolanda I started where you did and am on Step Blast now... I've almost figured out the warm-up and combo #1. haha I've heard that Cathe's earlier stuff is a little easier, choreographically speaking, so I'm thinking I'll try Power Max next after I've mastered Step Blast. Anybody have any ideas on that?

Hi, I'm fairly new too (beginning of year) but can tell you what I did. I bought the Basic Step/Body Fusion DVD. Took me a while on Basic Step, but I did get it. I used the topper only. Knees around the world was the hardest, but got that after a few tries. I did this DVD for a few weeks before I was bored. Read the forums and decided on the Timesavers and CTX. Timesavers was good, I could work on a couple of combos, each time getting a little bit further. No way did I have expectations of doing it right, I just trusted that eventually I would get it. Pretty soon, the cueing was more and more familiar and I could do everything. I later bought the Classics, but only did them once. Need to go back to them. Anyhoo, I think if you can get thru Timesavers or CTX, you gain the skills and confidence to do anything. For me it was to trust that I would get the footwork eventually.

CTX is a great set! I use it a lot. Very versatile.
