A first Christi/Franny tape?

Hi everyone:

I'm taking a little breather from step right now and getting back into hi/lo. I work out at advanced level and am psyched for something new.

I have read reviews on VF about Franny Benedetto and Christi taylor tapes, but i'd like in-put if possible from the Cathe crowd as to which tapes by these two ladies they would reccommend me to start with? I do hi/lo --Cathe's MIC hi/lo portion, Anderson's sweat express, and Charlene's Rev Up the Sequel, all without trouble. But I have not tried other hi/lo tapes yet. Dancey step tapes are out, but dancey hi/lo is different so I am game to give it a try. I love Kari Anderson's Sweat Express for example (except for that fourth funk song where the heart rate drops way too low and the moves are sooo repetitive)

What would you reccommend to someone who has never done a Franny or Christi tape before?

Thanks for all in-put. (I hope to make a purchase in the month of May from "serioushomefitnes.com", because in May all orders have free shipping!!! Take a look!)

I have tried both Christi (Happy Hour) and Franny (2K05) and traded both away. Too complicated/dancy and not high intensity enough. Christi keeps saying "Watch Me!" ... and she lost me EVERYTIME! I feel that I have to keep on doing these tapes to remember the moves, as w/ others I can pick it up anytime.

Just my 0.02.

I have C.Prickett Rev Up Sequel on order!

Clare,

As far as Christi goes I would start with Still Jumpin' or her newest, Totally Hot Cardio. Those are the easist, in my opinion, of her videos. Very fun!

I am more limited with Franny because I only have a couple of her videos. They are Cardio Parties and her newest one, All Out Hi/Lo. Both of these have step and hi/lo on them. I really like Franny also and didn't have too much trouble catching on to her routines. To me she is a little easier, as far as choreo, than Christi. I have a tough time with hi/lo so I have to work at it a little. Both women do a great job and have great personalities!

RE: Hi Clare

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-02 AT 04:27PM (Est)[p]For a first Christi, I recommend Happy Hour Hi Lo. I just got the new Totallies but have not yet had a chance to review them. Happy Hour was the first Christi I ever caught on to and I have now just about mastered Hi Low Heaven so it can be done. I know since I traded Hi Lo Heaven after my first try with it a few years ago and but just got it a few weeks ago on a trade. I like it so much, I have ordered and received Step Heaven too.

For a first Franny, CIA 9704 is a really good bet and so is CIA 9905 (the hi lo part at least). I tried the hi lo in 2K05 but so far have not had the patience to master it with all the turns, etc. Since I have now figured out Hi Lo Heaven though, my confidence for trying 2K05 again is improving.

Gee, I must be in a posting mood today.

RE: Hi Clare

I would say from easiest to hardest choreography:
1. Still Jumpin'
2. Happy Hour Hi-Lo
3. Totally Hot Cardio (maybe switch this with #2, but I haven't done it enough to know for sure...)
4. Hi-Lo Heaven
5. CIA 9801

From least fun to most:
1. Happy Hour Hi-Lo
2. Totally Hot Cardio
3. Still Jumpin'
4. Hi-Lo Heaven
5. CIA 9801

The fun factor for me depends upon the music and Christi's attitude. Both are great in all her videos, but if they have to be rated, that's the order I would put her videos in.
Christi is such a great instructor, and her workoust are so incredibly fun, that she is practically all I do anymore, aside from Cathe...

I've said it a gazillion times, and I'll say it again--do a step tape without the step, and it is a great hi-lo workout! I actually enjoy Step Heaven, Cia 9801 step, and really most of Christi's step stuff more than her hi-lo. I do them on and off the step, depending on how my knees are feeling.

My preference

Of the hi/lo Christi workouts my recommendation for a 1st venture would be Still Jumpin. It has the best combo of music and choreography. There are 4 people in the back demonstrating the less complex/low impact versions. So you can pick and choose how complex you want to get and when. Christi is great! I think you'll enjoy her. Good luck!

RE: My preference

THank you all for the time you took to let me pick your brains for advice! Looks like a poss order for Still Jumpin going through very soon and maybe I'll do my favourite powermax without the step?!

Thanks

Clare
