A Cathe-style athlete in a half marathon?

I forgot to say, I did mostly a run/walk when I trained for my half-marathon. I did a run/walk for the actual event, too, and I quickly got over my "But it's not *real* running!" attitude. Believe me, when you finish 13.1 miles--whether it's walking or running (and I've done both!)--it is something to be proud of!!

I'm working on running my entire event the next time I run a half-marathon. Right now I'm able to run 5 miles straight without stopping to walk; I'm building up bit by bit until I start training again in June.

Don't be afraid to go at your own pace; your body will thank you for it :).

Thank you, Jennifer!
What a motivating and encouraging note! I have my moments when I feel like a I am a kangaroo running a camel race, but this is pushing me to develop an endurance I've never had in my life. On Saturday during the 8 mile run, my house was right around the 5 mile mark I sure wanted to run right inside and have my DH drive me back to my car, but I didn't give in to that urge. We did 8 miles in 1 hour and 12 minutes, running 7 minutes, walking 1. I never would have thought I could do that! Neither would my old coach!! ;) I was so terrible at long distance. Last week, I did one of Cathe's Terminator workouts and it felt so good and surprisingly COMFORTABLE. Wow- that's a sign of progress, too. It is hard to push yourself beyond your usual routine, but I'm glad that I am.
Thank you again- I really appreciate all your input and encouragement and I feel so blessed that you all took the time to give me your comments.
Thanks!!!!

Jennifer-TNT, hugh? I just did my first TNT event last Sunday in Disney! GREAT ORGANIZATION!!!!!!!

Amy, I ditto what Jennifer said about walking/running at your own pace. Although I ran my entire marathon, I did stop and walk short distances when I just felt like I needed it (probably totaled 1/2 mile or so).

Now, I am planning on another marathon for this year, but this time I think I am going to power walk it, just to see the difference of impact on my body (specifically my knees).

KEEP IT UP!!!!!! You never know what you can accomplish until YOU DO IT!!!!!
