A break in my training

Hi Cathe!

First of all, I am not very good in english so I will try my best! Here is my question for you: I do your videos 3 times a week (the advanced ones), and in addition to that, I do about 35 to 45 minutes on the elliptical machine 1 or twice a week. I am going on vacation in May. I won't train for an entire week and I am really anxious about that. I never took a week off since a 4 years. Is it good to take a week off training once in a while?

Thank you! You are such an inspiration to me!:)

Catou,

:p Okay, so it has been *years* since I have spoken much less written French! :)

But the short answer to your question is YES. Enjoy your week off and I think you will return stronger and faster! ;) :)

To Katryn (my name is Catherine too!) and Amyg (your french is good!)

Thank you so much for your answers. C'est super!

Do you take breaks from training once in a while? If yes, how often?

Thanks!;)

Moi aussi!

But I agree with Amy...a week off every once in a while is a good thing! I don't really schedule them. Usually they just sort of happen: either I've got a vacation scheduled, or I'm just feeling a bit burned out so I take a break.

I was worried too when I couln't work out for 10 days !!!! I thought I wouldn't be able to pick a weight up . But I found I could actually lift better w/ that break in training>. As stated before, enjoy your time off, you will come back better!

You can take a week off from formal exercising and lose absolutely nothing. You will gain energy, motivation to return to your workouts and maybe also a certain peacefulness of spirit.

Enjoy your week off!

Your English is just fine, no need to worry.

Clare

Bonjour Catherine,

Bonnes vacances! :)

I have to take 5 weeks off!!! i'm going on a honeymoon for a week then when i get back i'm having my boobies done so i'm down for 4 weeks after that. i think it just becomes a mental battle and you just have to reassure yourself you are not going to turn into jaba the hut after a week. i bet when your break is over you will come back stronger and refreshed. try to enjoy your vaca. its time with your family you will never get back. working out will always be there.

To all of you, thank you so much for your answers! You are right, it should be good for my body to take a break. I'm gonna try to be a little less «serious» about my training! I didn't took more than 3 consecutive days off in years! Thank you again. Hope I will have the chance to help you one day!!

Have a GREAT day!
