9/24 Veg Heads - (30 Day Vegger Grads)

Hi veggies! Hope you guys had a good weekend! My DH and I drove up to Mechanicsburg and went to a new grocery store called Wegman's. It was freakin' HUGE!!! The deli section alone was the size of a normal grocery store. Unfortunately, it was extreemly crowded too, you couldn't even push your cart more than a few feet at a time due to the crowd. We only lasted there about 30 minutes, before we both started to freak out from the crowd and left. They had a TON of natural foods though. Unfortunately, it's almost "too" big for me. I wouldn't mind going there occationally, but I'll stick to my hometown grocery store for my routine shopping.

I made a yummy stir fry from the Moosewood cookbook last night. The only thing I would change is the amount of garlic they called for. Phew... I'm still "experiencing" that flavor - ugh... I think I am going to invite my parents over tonight and pawn off the rest of the leftovers on them. The recipe definitely makes a ton and I'm not sure I want to "experience" it twice in one week. ;) It was really good though.

My DH has been big on seeking out organic chicken with no antibiotics, hormones etc... Yesterday, he bought some chicken and then bought some free range beef that claimed to have no hormones, antibiotics etc... Anyways, then he expected me to eat it. I didn't want it though. I've always used the argument of what they put in the meat and how they treat the animals for why I do not want it, but even if he could guarantee they were treated like queens, I still wouldn't want it. So I guess I've moved more into the stage of just not wanting to eat anything that once had a mother... This is very frustrating for my DH, but I just can't bring myself to eat it. I did cook him some chicken last night for his portion of the stir fry, but he is still frustrated that I will not eat it. :(

Hey Liann! Happy graduation to all those that made the full 30 days. I became MIA after a while, didn't I? lol Sorry about that! I've been able to maintain about a 98% meat-free diet these past 30 days. Not bad, I think.

Sorry to hear DH has still not come around to at least understand why YOU want to do what you're doing. Hang in there. Like kids....it might just take reinforcement and repitition.

How is everybody doing? I was lurking for a while off and on, even though I wasn't posting. I tend to get too involved with online stuff that then gets in the way of home life. Sometimes I get too wrapped up in the cyber world and lose focus on things here at home. Are you guys still planning on a daily check in??? I'd love to come and go, if you do!

Gayle

Gayle - Hello there! We are going to do one running thread each week instead of starting a new thread every day. Fell free to jump in whenever you get a chance! ;)

Hey you guys!

Just a quick stop to say hello. I'm also still going strong! I actually missed chickend yesterday for some reason. Just had this strong urge. I was at a party and there was some delicious smelling chicken, but I was good and resisted it. I stuck to cheese and shrimp, veggies and fruit.

Gayle, good to see you. I am also in and out, so the once a week thing is good!!

I have to run for now, just wanted to say hi and have a great day!

Well, this is turning out to be super-easy this week (and last). My TMJ is still going strong. Saw the dentist yesterday and he has me on some lovely muscle relaxants and a virtually liquid diet. Diary and silken tofu are big right now! I'm also getting chicken broth. But that's it. I walked past the farmer's market today and --- sigh. I've always loved veggies and now it's really killing me. And it's apple season, too. I have to do this for this whole week and then go back for a reevaluation. Maybe then I'll get to eat semi-solids! woo-hoo!! And of course the muscle relaxants have me dizzy, so pushing 15 pound dumbbells over my head/face is a totally bad idea, so no working out unless I want another injury. I've only almost walked into a wall twice today! Hopefully the full moon tonight will make this month's ridiculous cycle pass. sheesh. Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Hello? Is anybody out there? Still living on soup, smoothies and pudding. I fear for myself when I'm allowed to eat again. I may do something bad.

Hey guys! Well, it's been a rough week for me, so I haven't been back much since starting this post. I came down with the stomach flu on Monday night and was in bed most of Tuesday and Wednesday. Finally started feeling better on Thursday and then AF came to visit Saturday and I've been back to feeling like crap. ;)

So needless to say, no workouts for me this week and I have felt like a total bum! I have been good with my eating for the most part though. The only deviation I had was a tuna sandwich the other day. I went to a local deli and meant to order egg salad, but accidentally ordered tuna salad and didn't have the heart to tell her I'd made a mistake, because she was in the middle of making it. Anyways, I honestly didn't like it that much, so I do not think staying away from it is going to be a problem in the future.

I went over to my parents house the other day and had to laugh at all their recent food purchases. Mom has been reading "Becoming Vegetarian", so everything they had was "Organic". She had cage free, organic, no antibiotics etc.. eggs, milk, hamburger meat. She's even buying wheat bread which she hates. Cracked me up. I told her to do babysteps and she has been. I'm very proud of her. ;)

NY25 - I hope you start feeling better soon! :( Give yourself at least one cheat day when you get better. It will make it easier not to go "hog wild". ;)

Belinda - Great to see you!!! How did the move go?

Vicki - My mom made my favorite chicken dish the other night (chicken & stuffing with cream of chicken soup mixed in). It was murder not being able to go over and have some... :/

Gayle - Glad you see you here too!

Hey Liann: Glad to see you! I knew you were okay when I saw your
"New Do" thread on OD, but I had put out an all points bulletin put on you on the PYGFO thread the other day!! LOL! I was a bit worried... so I'm glad to hear everything is okay!!

I actually had a bite of chicken the other day... let me explain... my friend made chicken and rice, and I was only planning to eat the rice part, but there was some chicken mixed in and a piece accidentally got in my mouth. So, instead of spitting it out I decided to eat it and then had another piece, don't know why!! Then I realized that I was having a hard time chewing it, mostly out of guilt, so I didn't eat any more. That second piece was alomost like me rebelling against myself! I have no idea why...

Okay, must run. I have company coming tonight for our Sunday night Desperate Housewives gathering, so I need to start the cleaning/cooking.

See ya later!
