Hi veggies! Hope you guys had a good weekend! My DH and I drove up to Mechanicsburg and went to a new grocery store called Wegman's. It was freakin' HUGE!!! The deli section alone was the size of a normal grocery store. Unfortunately, it was extreemly crowded too, you couldn't even push your cart more than a few feet at a time due to the crowd. We only lasted there about 30 minutes, before we both started to freak out from the crowd and left. They had a TON of natural foods though. Unfortunately, it's almost "too" big for me. I wouldn't mind going there occationally, but I'll stick to my hometown grocery store for my routine shopping.
I made a yummy stir fry from the Moosewood cookbook last night. The only thing I would change is the amount of garlic they called for. Phew... I'm still "experiencing" that flavor - ugh... I think I am going to invite my parents over tonight and pawn off the rest of the leftovers on them. The recipe definitely makes a ton and I'm not sure I want to "experience" it twice in one week. It was really good though.
My DH has been big on seeking out organic chicken with no antibiotics, hormones etc... Yesterday, he bought some chicken and then bought some free range beef that claimed to have no hormones, antibiotics etc... Anyways, then he expected me to eat it. I didn't want it though. I've always used the argument of what they put in the meat and how they treat the animals for why I do not want it, but even if he could guarantee they were treated like queens, I still wouldn't want it. So I guess I've moved more into the stage of just not wanting to eat anything that once had a mother... This is very frustrating for my DH, but I just can't bring myself to eat it. I did cook him some chicken last night for his portion of the stir fry, but he is still frustrated that I will not eat it.
