Hi 2009 Road Trippers!

We've got news!!! :D

We know you've all been eagerly but patiently waiting (thank you!!!) this spring while we've been working on a new system to make our Road Trip-related communication with you more efficient and effective. Well, kids, we are VERY happy to announce to you the all-new 2009 Cathe Road Trip webpage! We hope you'll find it to be easy to navigate and helpful. Click here to find it, and we encourage you to bookmark it, too:

There is a WORLD of information here for you, so please take your time and read thoroughly.

One of the first things you'll notice on the page is this sentence: "Complete your registration and Who's Who Book submission." Clicking on the link directly below that sentence will take you to the 2009 Road Trip Information Form, which contains blank spaces for information that we and Cathe's staff need to complete your registration file. We ask that you fill out the Information Form carefully and submit it NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, JULY 22.

Some of y'all have been asking about the Who's Who Book, and we are delighted to tell you that YES, it's back! You'll see that there are spaces on this Road Trip Information Form for you to type in your personal data for your 2009 Road Trip Who's Who Book page, and you'll also see that you can now easily upload a digital photograph of yourself for your Who's Who Book page. By the way, about that photo -- a headshot or close-up of you is preferred because it's going to be reproduced in a very small size, but in a pinch a full-body style photo or your favorite family-style shot will do!

For our new Road Trippers, let us explain what we mean by the "Who's Who Book." It's an autobiographies collection, written by Road Trippers about themselves. You might think of it as your Cathe Road Trip Yearbook. :p Every year the Who's Who book is a treasured Road Trip souvenir -- an awesome place for you to collect Cathe and crew autographs, make notes about your new friends, or exchange phone numbers or addresses with other Catheites. And listen up, y'all: You are free to participate in the WWB or not. You are free to tell us anything or nothing at all about yourself. You are free to give us a photo or leave the photo spot on your page blank. It's entirely up to you to decide what information you want published. Most Road Trippers DO choose to participate and provide photos, but not everyone does, and we mean this: You should truly do what feels good and comfortable to you!!

Again, the deadline for submission of your 2009 Road Trip Information Form with your Who's Who Book info and digital photograph is WEDNESDAY, JULY 22.

On our new Road Trip webpage, you'll also find download links to several important informational documents, each of which is offered to you in MS Word, PDF and RTF formats so that you can choose which one works best for your computer. Those of you who are repeat Trippers from previous years will recognize these as being the updated versions of documents that we've always e-mailed to you. Having all of this information accessible on the new webpage should make it more convenient for you to read everything, print what you need, and even re-print some things if you need to do so.

One important note --- Cathe's still finalizing a few details about the schedule for our weekend, so you'll notice that the Agenda/Itinerary isn't available for download yet. No worries. We will publish the Agenda on the Road Trip webpage very soon, and we'll make an announcement to you here and in e-mail when it's ready for you to download.

And finally, a huge personal thank-you from the three of us to Cathe's talented web and graphic design guys for their invaluable expertise and help on this project (and on lots of other RT-related stuff as you'll soon see!) These fellas are just the best at what they do, and they're cheerful, hard-working, and wicked cute too. ;) The Coordinators send grateful hugs to you, fellas!!!

As always, everyone, post here if you have any questions, or e-mail us at [email protected]. We'll do our best to help!

See you all in THREE WEEKS!!!!!

document might be out of date?

Hi Kathy, Debbie, & Lorrayne:
Thanks for organizing and keeping everyone informed!

I think one of the related documents (Rapid Rover) is out of date. See http://www.thecathenation.com/docs/Rapid-Rover-Transport.doc page 3:

quoted:

Getting BACK to the Airport or the Amtrak Train Station
When You Leave on Sunday:

On Sunday morning we will have our traditional Farewell Brunch, but this year, in response to everyone’s feedback, we will NOT have any Sunday morning Cathe class. There will be Cathe bus service from the hotels to the Five Points Diner (site of our Farewell Brunch). The brunch will be over at 11:00. There will then be Cathe bus service back to the hotels.

Cathe will be teaching on Sunday, right? :) The doc said we will NOT have any Sunday morning Cathe class. So, I just want to be sure that it is still on. Will brunch still end at 11:00? What time does brunch start? Is Cathe's class from 7:00 to 8:00am, so we will have time to shower afterwards, before brunch, or perhaps even go back to the hotel to shower?

Thank you!

Linda, you're right!!!

Linda, you're absolutely right and we thank you for catching our mistake!

Cathe is teaching a Sunday morning class (a late change to the Agenda that everyone seems to love!) -- it is from 7:00 to 8:00 and bus transportation will be provided FROM the hotels TO the gym and then FROM the gym TO the Diner.

It's about a 20-minute drive from the hotels to the gym, Linda, but the Diner is actually about half-way between the gym and the hotels on a straight route. The buses will NOT, as I said, be going back to the hotels before the Brunch. If you have your own car you could drive back after class, but in our experience you'd be extremely rushed even if you're VERY quick in the shower.

What we recommend is that you check out before coming to the gym on Sunday morning, and then, depending on your flight or train time, either bring your luggage with you on the bus or plan on going back to the hotels from the Diner to pick up your luggage for later departure. EITHER WAY, definitely plan on cleaning up after class very quickly in the locker room at the gym. Both of our two buses will wait for us for about 15 - 20 minutes or so after the class, and then will take us all to the Diner. After the Brunch the buses will provide transport back to the hotels. If your travel plans don't allow for that, you can have Rapid Rover pick you up at the Diner (we always have a crowd doing that!)

I know that sounds less than optimal for perfect personal cleanliness ;), but it's a time-honored and surprisingly workable system that we've used now for four years, and somehow, everyone manages to get reasonably spiffed up before their travels!

Hope this helps and thanks again for catching our mistake. We'll correct it!

Do you know what time the last class will end on Saturday. I may have to leave late on Saturday night to drive home.

Thanks

Hi fitmomof2!

Our last class on Saturday will end somewhere in the vicinity of 5:30ish, and then we'll take a break, everyone will be bussed back to the hotels for a nice warm shower and fresh clothes, and we'll reconvene (buses will bring everyone back) a little later for our Fitness Feast and Festivities. The Saturday party is always a lot of fun -- great music and food, games, raffles, prizes, etc. -- and I'd hate for you to miss it. :( But of course if you have to, at least you'll have had a WHOLE lot of Cathe classes to relax you for your drive home -- and we'd want to top off your tank with some good coffee too for that drive!!! :D
