So a woman paid $65.500 for the "perfect" copy cat ah?

I love my cat Rubin to death and would certainly miss his quirkyness when he goes, but I wouldnt pay that much money for a "Rubin clone"

Geez!!! I wouldnt even pay that to "clone" my DH!

A cloned cat?
I've loved many cats, but I can't see having a clone of any of them. They are all so unique and wonderful. I wouldn't even give a cat the same name as another one I used to have (though my dad used the name "Tiger" several times).

It would certainly be a big disappointment to this woman if the cat ended up having a different personality from the original.

I vaguely recall hearing something about cloned cats not having the same color patterns as the originals. If that's the case, there's no real way of having a "perfect" clone of a cat.

I can think of many other good uses for $65,500 : like donating it to an animal shelter in her cat's name!

With so many adoptee wannabees, that is to me just hideous. Surely Rubin, if he had a voice could have probably told her that himself. She could have done alot better with her money. I say this with experience. I have dogs & cats. I have a siamese that I adore & I have always adored their mannerisms. When I lost one to my stupidity (I left the door open) I got another & made sure I did not make the same mistake again. That was a terrible heartache because there is something about those types of cats and me that really connect. I know it's weird. In fact, I could probably be one of those type of people that would clone their pets, except, I have been many tines to an animal shelter and I would NEVER even consider it.

I agree with Marla. When I think of the thousands of animals that are put to sleep each year because they don't have homes, it makes me want to cry to think about this stupid woman wasting money like that. Think how many animals she could have helped with that money! I adore my two cats, but when the day comes that they are no longer with me, I know the best way to honor them will be to help other strays - like they were when I found them. That woman should be ashamed of herself!

You know...I'm a HUGE science fiction fan, but the whole cloning thing freaks me out. (probably because I AM a sci-fi fan). I know some people don't believe that animals have souls - which is another thing my mind cannot comprehend. But I haven't figured out how something that is cloned can have a soul. I wouldn't do it. It would make me afraid that the cloned animal would come back like the cat in Pet Semetary. Creeeeeeepy.

OMG Donna!

Pet Semetary scared the ********* out of me...........

THAT IT!..............no cloning the cat, the budgie, the fish, or the DH for me

Also cloning animals has not been perfected as a science yet. Although viable cloned animals are born, they have a host of health problems and most have died early deaths. Autopsies have revealed tissue disorganization in many organ systems including the lungs, kidneys and others. So its not fair to the cloned animal either.

Your cat must be in a perpetual state of self-control at your house with a budgie AND fish! My cats couldn't practice self-restraint when my daughter had a hamster. I think he lasted 4 months before he ended up as a morning snack. Poor little "Grumpy".
