"The first step in natural healing is responsibility. Natural healing is about taking control of your life and being responsible for everything that goes in and out of your body, mind and spirit." - Richard Schulze

GOOD MORNING!!!!! I promise to talk MORE today! I promise I'm HOME! I just have to post and run, but I'll be back!

Squat Rack Legs, disc 29, I believe, is DONE! 90% of 1RM! Yeah, I felt that! :) (to add to the discussion about Plyo Legs.....I was sore for 2 days after that one last week).

Back on track today. Back on my game. Kids' Rec Program at the town park started this week and they want to go today since they missed Monday and Tuesday. So I have to go get them up and out the door (it starts at 9). Then I'll be home alone till I get them at noon. I have some PTA stuff to do on the PC to hand over my files to the next President, and I'd like to bang all that out ASAP this week. I'll post more after I drop them off.

It would be far easier to lose weight permanently if replacement parts weren't so handy in the refrigerator. ~Hugh Allen

so true:p.

My son's graduation was yesterday. It was very cute. But unfortunately the kids that were in chairs, not on the bleachers I couldn't see. I was 5 rows back and the only way I could see Ryan was if I stood on the folding chairs. :( I was kinda annoyed.

We went out to lunch (johnny rockets), not a great place to eat healthy. Then we went to the movies and saw Imagine That. It is with eddie murphy. It was a cute movie. I am not sure how much the kids enjoyed it though.

Mary- it is great to have you back!! About the squat rack, it depends on how heavy you can lift vs how much weight you can get over your head. My 10 lb vest is not heavy enough. I squat about 90 lbs I could not get 80lbs over my head, so I use a rack. A heavier vest may also work. I use my vest too just to keep some weight off the back of my neck. That is so cool your husband taught spin. How did it go? Did he like it?

Jo- I was not sore from squat rack legs again-. I made sure I squatted low (put a bench under me to aim for). I think there is not enough reps for me. I really don't develop that burn, just failure.
You run up and down the stairs to do your workout. Do you bring the disc too?

My husband also has clothes in his closet since the 80's. Kinda scary. Every once in awhile I throw out a few things so he doesn't notice. He has this brightly colored sweater with a raised pattern of squiggly lines. It is black, turquoise, bright yellow and hot pink. God awful ugly. It is his favorite. I told him he can't wear it with me in public. (I have a reputation to uphold ya know.:p)

Ellie and Jerry- Thanks for stopping in a saying 'hi'. Thanks for the complements. ( you really can't "see" my results because of my diet). However, Gayle looked amazing.
Gayle-I forgot to ask you to introduce me to the "VEIN"-;) Maybe on the RT we can be officially introduced.

Rachel- plyo legs got me good but squat rack ....NOTHING!! (unless you count my forearms) I think you should send some of your heat up to the north east. It should be hot here by now and we are lucky if we get in the 70's. oh and don't get me started on all the rain. UGH!!!

Cendrine- that is cool your dh is doing STS. I hope he likes it. Have fun with plyo legs. We want your reviews. I love to hear how the leg workouts affect everyone.

Kim- does your schedule lighten up for summer? You and Gayle sometimes sound like the energizer bunnies!!

Hi julie- hope all is well.

I am going to the gym to run.
BBL later
chrissy

PS it took me an hour to do this post. Jo I hate when I lose posts. especially when you spent so much time on it. It is never quite the same when you redo it.

Hi Guys,

Well, disk 26 is done and I'm here to tell about it! I my knees wanted to buckle a few times when I walked over to the kitchen to get my smoothie.... I read on a thread somewhere a while back that someone decided plyo leg would not count as a cardio workout.... Yeah, right! No cardio???? then what the heck is it? I would call it something of the interval or circuit nature... I was huffing and puffing good! My quads were screaming during some of the plyo moves, especially the half turns staying down in squat position! I kept my weights a bit heavier than 70%, just because. Why do you think 70% is what they do( of course the moves are somewhat faster, so I can understand that reasoning) I enjoyed the slower pace for tuck jumps, air jacks and squat jumps. It did allow me to do it with much better form, but boy were my quads burning! I wonder how long until the Doms show up! 30 seconds sometimes felt much longer!

Jo, sorry you lost your post! It happened to me once as well and Chrissy, you are right, the posts are not the same when you have to repeat them....

Gayle and Chrissy, I liked both your quotes, I needed to hear both of those today... I'm finding maintaining quite a challenge, because somehow my body has decided it wants to have everything under the sun, now that it has reached my goal....I find it so much harder to do treats in moderation than no treats at all, but then I end up going too long without any and loose it.... So, being in control of maintenance eating is proving quite an exercise in self-control and discipline!

I just have today and tomorrow of school for ds, then it's summer break! Fun, fun fun!

Hi Julie, Rachel, Mary (I forgot to mention, I think it's really cool your husband taught the spinning class! How did it go?)

Hi Everyone!

Today was CCV8 on my spinning bike! Great workout! I wanted to do that to loosen up my legs after squat legs yesterday!

Gayle and Chrissy, so nice to have you both back! Chrissy, I'm wondering if you're not going heavy enough. But, as others have said in other threads, some aren't feeling DOMS so much in this Meso so maybe that's the case for you. Also, for running up and down the stairs: one day I tried doing it playing the disc in my laptop. But I didn't like running up and down with the laptop. So I only use the laptop for squat legs. On chest and back, I only use the squat rack for the initial 4 sets of heavy chest presses, so I time it and run down when there is 20 seconds left in the rest and then when I get back upstairs to do barbell rows, she's just finished chest. (I guess we always make these things work!) Sounds like you had a fun day with the kids yesterday! Too bad you couldn't see! But he knew you were there!

Gayle, you're our girl on the run! So many things to do, so little time! Thank goodness you get your workouts in!

Cendrine, I wanted to tell you that when I last made the kale soup, we added a leek and some bok choy to it and it gave it a nice bite!

Off to the shower!

Good Morning Cendrine! We posted at the same time! I'm smiling about your post! :D I knew you would agree plyo legs is leg cardio jello!

BBL!

Hi Everybody,

I only have 1/2 hour left in my lunchhour, so I will post until it's time to go back to work. I did disc 23 (legs) for the last time this morning. I really, really like those low plane lunges, they got me good!!!! I have a tendency to moan and curse at Cathe when the need arises, so I have to be careful in the a.m. because DH and DS are still asleep. The vent in the basement is underneath our bedroom and the noise tends to travel upwards. Hate to have DH wake to my moans :confused::confused:!

My DH had a great time teaching spin last night. This was his 2nd time teaching, and they asked him to fill in one day next week. I wish you guys knew my DH. He is very tall and muscular, but very quiet. He is really stepping out of his comfort zone with teaching, but I am incredibly proud of him. The 'Y" offered to pay for him to get certified, and I am trying to encourage him so that he can fill in when they need someone. It was the first time my DS spun, and he did really well! He rides his bike a lot, so that probably helps.

I am glad to know I am not the only one that loses posts!! I have lost about 5 very long posts within the last 2 months. It is so frustrating! If I am writing a post on my lunchhour, and I minimize it to bring up something else from the internet, I may get kicked off completely. This again is where the moaning and cursing come into play.

I'm not going to have time for personals until later tonight, but I had to chuckle at a lot of comments made today. Well my lunchhour is just about up, so I need to get back to work. Enjoy your day and we'll talk later!!!

Mary

jo- I don't think I can go heavier or I don't go low enough. I also worry about hurting my back. Maybe I should add a couple of reps in since we have so much time.

How much do you squat compared to deadlifts? I know I should be squatting more than I deadlift, but it is the same amount. Anyone care to answer/comment? I guess I have to work on balancing out my legs. I need to work on my quad strength.
I was just thinking I don't think I have ever been sore in my quads during STS. It has always been my glutes and hams. What does that mean?

LOL- my husband came home while I was doing a leg workout and I was moaning. He came down and said he was jealous because Cathe can get me to moan louder than him:eek:. (sorry if that is too much info)

Good one! That gave me a good laugh!

Chrissy, yes I'm squating more then DL (but not alot more). What I think you should do then is slow down the reps like in Slow & Heavy - maybe do an 8 count. I wouldn't go lower if you have back issues.

If I didn't have a squat rack I'd probably be in the same situation as you as I'm very limited on what I can lift over my head...but my legs are like titanium! (Okay maybe not, but they are in comparison to my upper body!).

Also, now that I think about it, I have always had more DOMS in glutes and hams. Except I think the low pulse lunges and paper plate lunges really got my quads as well as my glutes. I'll have to think more about that. Good point!

Jo- I do have a squat rack and I don't have back problems. I just don't feel comfortable going heavier because I do start to feel it in my back/core. Maybe I need to start doing more core work-I avoid this like the plague. I especially feel my core when I do front squats, so I do even less weight with that exercise.

chrissy

I definitely feel it in my core with front lunges and go waaaay lighter! I don't even like doing those!

I really feel it in my glutes doing regular squats and quads (some) but I know I would feel it in my back if I went any heavier as I wouldn't be able to maintain form.

Chrissy, I'm just waiting for my husband to make a comment like your husband.... Poor guy...

On the quads issue, I haven't really had doms worth mentioning in my quads during STS either. The first time I really felt my quads on fire was this morning doing plyo legs 26... I would definitely be careful about going so heavy that it affects your back and core. Ultimately it is not worth it to lift heavier if it hurts the rest of you. You can always go heavier the second time around as you build more strength. And I think just because you don't feel Doms doesn't mean you don't get a good workout for your legs. That's just my opinion, though. I personally don't lift as heavy as all of you for legs and still get nicely toned legs with good definition. I'm doing about the same for dl as for squats because I don't lift as heavy. It is still heavier than I have lifted before doing STS, but it's not the 120lb that the workoutmanager tells me to lift. I could do it, my legs could, that is, but my lower back would not be happy. Someday I'll get a squat rack and build up slowly to where I can do it and give my lower back ample time to improve, but for now, I'm compromising weight for safety.

I think my glutes are already talking from this morning's workout.... I think I will be sore meso1 style or worse.... tomorrrow....
And did I mention my chest is still hurting from Monday?

Jo, leeks is an alltime favorite addition to my soups and stews, it gives so much flavor!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!! I just spent 45 minutes writing a post, and I paged back to look at a comment from earlier this morning, and I lost the damn thing!!!! I am incredibly pissed!!!! It would be great to have a function on this forum that would warn of losing your post before actually losing it for morons like me :mad:. Unfortunately ladies it is getting late, and I need to get ready for tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening and we'll talk soon....

Mary
