Good morning!

I'm starting to sound like a broken record when I say, "Quick post for me". lol

I'll take some time later to get caught up on a few comments/questions, but for now....QUICK POST FOR ME! :)

Workout is DONE! Low Max and Weights & Plates abs. I wasn't sure my booty would be able to get thru all of Low Max. My glutes are sore after disc 23 yesterday. But I chugged right thru that workout! :D:):p

Today is a 'sick' day. Here's what I've got planned: first kids on the bus, then directly to the dump to drop off and empty all 13 bags of grass I cut this weekend. Then back home for a few quick things that need to get done. Then off to the new AC Moore (craft store) that's having a 'soft opening' today before their Grand Opening at the end of the month. On the way home I'll hit the grocery store for ground chicken breast to make Tuscan Chicken Soup (I'll share the recipe later too). Then back home for a few more things before the kids get home from school. THEN I'm going to cut the grass (YUCK) again and then, and then, and THEN......NOTHING ON THE CALENDAR TONIGHT, baby! NOTHING! So the kids and I are going to cook on the grill and then go for a bike ride. I figure if DS can walk on his boot, he can ride a bike, right?

So all in all, it will be a productive yet enjoyable day (except for the grass, lol).

Now.....off to load those stinky bags of grass into my car for the dump.

BBL! PROMISE!

Gayle

Good Morning Everybody!!

QUICK POST FROM ME TO0!!! I just got to work and have a few minutes before work starts. How is everybody doing on our challenge??? The work week is always easier for me than the weekends, so I am right on course with the healthy eating. Besides my workout tonight (Disc 17-Legs) I have no obligations, so I want to cook a few healthy things up for the remainder of the week.

I will CBL tonight and catch up with you all!! Enjoy the day!!!

Mary

Good morning all!!

I just have to get my younger son on the bus then its off to tackle disc 21 again. Then I will be studying for my final. Kim, I am getting masters in exercise physiology. I will (hopefully) be graduating next May.

I watched the BL last night. I don't usually but my husband put it on. How amazing everyone looked, especially the last 3 finalists. I kept thinking if the girls would take off their earrings they would be 5 lbs lighter-:p. That one woman would have beat out Jerry (?) for the home prize of $100,000, if she would have just removed the chandeliers hanging from her ears!!!!

Jo- loved your comment about your squirt guns. LOL. I'm sure your arms look great.

I have to go now and get Ryan ready for school.

OK, ladies. I THINK I'm all caught up. Here's a LONG POST with personals for ya! I may have crossed one person's comment/question with another, but it's all in there, I believe. :D:D:D Grab a mug of tea, sit back and enjoy the novel coming:

Mary-isn’t it AWESOME looking at the calendar and seeing NOTHING!!! I’m planning the same thing as you…a healthy dinner and some quality time in the kitchen making a few things to carry me into the next week. What will you be making??????

Chrissy- Go rock your final, girl! Good luck! Then enjoy your break between now and July. As for the event in NYC in October, I’ll see if I can find a link or website (unless you can share it here with me before I get the time to look it up.) My kids Birthdays are both in October (the 17th and 29th) and I like to do something different and special with them that month, so this may very well fit the bill. My mom likes to take these trips with us, so when I get a chance to look at the timeframe and my calendar, I’ll make a definite decision. How certain are YOU that you’ll be doing it, and how far from NYC are you? When you and I make a definite decision, I’ll pose the possibility to the rest of the tri-staters. Finally, I thought the EXACT same thing about those earrings on TBL last night! LOL How about Jerry, how AWESOME he looked!

Rachel-all your talk about your friend’s projects makes me want to finally get to my bathrooms. lol I’ve been putting it off and putting it off, and other things just pop up. What a friend you are for doing this with/for them!!! And you’re right about those double wave loads…they’re deceiving and sneak right up on you and bite you in the butt (or whatever muscle you’re working)! As for our clothing drive, it took us 45 minutes to load all those bags, and we were laughing because it was 4 women, a 6th grader and a Kindergartner doing the work! LOL No men in sight, besides the truck driver! And thanks for the compliment….I often think, too, how ironic it is that some of us are so busy and yet make our physical well-being a priority, yet others with LESS things to do and more help at home say there’s just no time for working out. NONSENSE! CONGRATS on the meal with DH and not snitching from his plate. That was one thing I used to do too, but have stopped!

Julie
-did you see my response about the Glutamine powder??? I put 1 teaspoon in my shake or a glass of water in the morning…it’s tasteless so it’s not bad in just plain water. As for ‘not having anything significant to report’….keep on chugging along and you WILL. I have to say that my results I’m getting from STS REALLY started showing when I cleaned up my eating at the start of Meso 2. As for posting pictures….picturetrail.com is a good sight. I used to use them but let my membership run out. You can upload pictures to your profile here on the Cathe boards for free. If you can’t figure it out, let me know. It’s not that hard. Finally, I’m sorry to hear of all the stress you’re under right now, for STBX, the kids, etc. All we can do is take it ONE DAY at a time. Cliché, yes, I know. But it IS TRUE! What else CAN we do? If we look at the big picture, we’re just setting ourselves up for a long haul. ONE DAY AT A TIME, and you KNOW you have us hear to chat with if you ever need. I wouldn’t mind sharing my phone number, too, if that would help you to have somebody to actually TALK to beside your professional (and yourself, lol).

Jo, I LOL at the squirt gun comment. Enjoy your long weekend….not sure if I missed what your long weekend was for. What did you think of TBL finale last night???? Can you BELIEVE how Helen looked? Mike? When Helen stepped out I KNEW she was going to win….and I’m glad she did! Tara rocked it all season, but I think she was starting to get a bit too big for her own britches toward the end.

Kim, tell me what you planted in your garden. I’m putting my kids in charge of ours this year and letting them choose ALL the stuff we put in there. As for Chicken Cordon Bleu. Here’s how I make the healthy-version….I take a chicken breast and butterfly it open making sure NOT to cut all the way thru to make 2 pieces. Open it up and on the bottom part, start piling in what you want….I put in 1 or 2 thin slices of lean ham, some chopped broccoli, and a wedge of the lite Laughing Cow Cheese. Then I lay the top on it, squeeze it closed and ‘pin’ it with toothpicks (maybe 3 or 4). Then I season with either Seasoned Salt (for DS and guests) or Mrs. Dash salt free seasoning (for me). Then I put it on a metal cooking rack (that I use for cookies, etc) and place the cooking rack on a baking sheet so that it raises the chicken off the sheet so it doesn’t sit in the juices that come out. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. If the chicken gets done before the rest of the meal, I will wrap the cooking rack with the chicken on it in foil to keep it all moist so it doesn’t dry out. It got RAVE reviews this weekend from everybody, and DS ate his ENTIRE piece. It was delish! As for DS, Doc said walk in the boot for 3 more weeks, and we go back on June 1st for another x-ray where he anticipated releasing Jacob completely. Keeping my fingers crossed we’ll be done with it all at that point. Now, on this holiday weekend you have coming up….PLAN AHEAD and you’ll be fine. Think of us back home here, waiting for a favorable beach review from you! ENJOY yourself!

Cendrine-did I miss a post from you yesterday? You out there somewhere??? I found myself last night, at that website again (the healthiest food site, forget what it’s called), looking for a soup recipe that uses canned pinto beans. I cleaned out my pantry last night and have 2 cans that I need to use up before the expiration date. I decided on my Tuscan Chicken Soup (recipe below), but that only uses ONE can…..any chance you have a yummy recipe at home that calls for a can of beans (I can sub any bean for any other bean, so it doesn’t matter what it calls for). Are the kids all recooperated today??? And I apologize, but I missed the daisy field picture….what’s the scoop on that??? It sounds LOVELY!!!!!

Now, girls, on the topic of “the twin girls”, “the girls”, whatever we call them. I’m in the SMALL but MIGHTLY category here. Not too much on top to hold me down while doing push ups! LOL The biggest I ever was, was when I was nursing my boys! Then it ALL went SOUTH!

As for our Memorial Day Challenge, I’m rock solid and loving it. Sunday’s ‘free day’ of treats and indulgences was okay, JUST okay, but I love the feeling of just eating clean and KNOWING that I’m doing something good for my body. I have to admit that I was a bit afraid of waking up Monday morning because in the past, after a ‘free day’, I’d fall into that gloomy mood of “well, 2 days won’t hurt me. 3 days in a row won’t hurt me”. But I stopped it after just that ONE DAY and got right back at it. MEMORIAL DAY, here we come!!!

OK......take a breather! LOL Did I get everybody???? I hope my pea-brain got it all! The grass has been dumped. I'm making a quick call to Lorrie (LSass) in Ohio, then I'm out the door for 3 errands.

Here's the recipe I'm making later....I LOVE this soup:
Tuscan Chicken Soup
2 garlic cloves, minced
½ C chopped onion
1 lb ground chicken breast
2 14oz cans f/f low sodium chicken broth
½ C uncooked orzo
14.5 oz can stewed tomatoes, chopped and undrained
16 oz can great northern beans, rinse/drain
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
¼ tsp ground black pepper
6 oz. bag fresh baby spinach
6 tsp shredded Parm cheese

• In a large saucepan over medium heat sprayed with non-stick cooking spray, sauté garlic and onion for about 5 minutes until just tender.
• Add chicken and cook 5 minutes, stirring to crumble
• Add broth, orzo, tomatoes, beans, basil, oregano and pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 22 minutes or until orzo is done.
• Stir in spinach; cook 3 minutes or until spinach wilts.

Notes:
• You can use ground turkey or lean ground beef in place of the chicken.
• I’ve also added other veggies to the onions; like carrots and celery.

Yields: 6 servings, about 1 ½ C each; 4 WW points per serving
Numbers per serving: 216 calories, 2g total fat, 23.9g protein, 25.5g carbs, 4.5g fiber

MWAH!! KICK OUT YOUR DAY!!

Gayle

p.s. Guess I'll find out if there's a word limit as soon as I hit REPLY!

Yeah IT'S Wednesday!

This morning was a great workout. I did the bootcamp only premix of 4DS and the kickbox premix also then I tacked on the abs on that disc. I was a sweaty mess when I got through. I still need to go in my workout room and windex down the mirrors from all the sweat that was flying off of me!:p Esp. when I was punching. Sweat was flying off my fists hitting me in the face on the upper cuts:D Just the way I like it!

But the most peculiar thing happened this morning. I went into the workout room and my bench was moved around and my dvds were not how I left them and then I realized what had happened! (no I am not working out in my sleep, even though that would be a good way to get an extra burn in:D) Instead I realized DH had gotten in there and it looked like he did an sts. Seeing as how meso 1 was on top. I thought I would not ask him and just let him tell me how it went. Well sure enough when he got up he told me he tried it alright! But after the decline pushups he had to give up! And he is in good shape! But not as good as he thought!:p I am not sure if he will ever revisit STS again! I hope so but I think he has a bruised ego:eek: I just had to share!

Cendrine
Disc 19 was fun and I am having some good doms today! I normally do not have them in my shoulders because I hold back a little for fear of injury but I pushed as hard as I could yesterday and I am feeling a good soreness in there today! You will have to let me know about disc 20 since I will be doing it tomorrwo! I also was looking up turkey burgers yesterday and saw a recipe on the recipe forum made with shredded wheat. I saw you had commented on it and was wondering if you ever tried to make it. I made my on take on it yesterday using Kashi Autumn wheat and it was very tender and did not dry out at all. Very good. But I changed the recipe a little.

Chrissy
Congrats on the degree! No wonder you seem to be so knowledgable. What are you going to do when you graduate? You can keep us up to date on all the ins and outs of excersize that we need to know:D Which for me is alot!

Kim
I hope you have so much fun at the cottage at the beach on Victoria's day. It sounds like something from a movie. Very quaint! I feel bad that our next goal is for Memorial Day and you can not indulge on your Canadian holiday! When is the next Canadian Holiday so maybe we can make that our goal after Memorial Day?

Jo
Squirt Guns LOL! I am going to have to steal that one from you! I hope you have fun on your first long weekend! I forget where you are going? Congrats on the doubling up so you will not get off track. I do this too if I know I have something coming up.

Mary
I am with you on the little pancakes in a sports bra. Sometimes I wish I had more but then I think maybe I will not sag when I get older.

I'll BBL to check in

Rachel

Well, like the rest of you...QUICK POST! I was up too late watching TBL so I over slept and now I'm scrambling....

I did CCV7 on my spinning bike this morning (but had to skip the stretch) - I AM A ROCKET! Feels so good!

TBL - OH MY GAWD! I always thought Tara would win, but after all three of them were out, I thought Helen had a good shot! They all looked amazing! I think Helen winning was a good upset to the ending! Oh and I LOVED that Jerry won the "at home." WOW!

Okay, I'll be back later today. Hope you all have a great hump day! :p

Hi, Jo!

Rachel - I LOVE IT!!!!! DH getting spanked by STS and Cathe! LOL

Gayle- here is the link to the walk.
http://walk.avonfoundation.org/site/PageServer?pagename=walk_homepage

I am about 99% sure I am doing it. Right now its just me. Haven't been able to find any recruits. Didn't even get too much support for wanting to do it:(.
You have to raise $1800 to walk it, but we have 5 months to raise it and with the internet it shouldn't be too bad. I believe we can either walk alone or form a group or request to join another group. It takes about 1:15 to get to the city by train. However I am not sure where it actually starts.

So you had a crush on Shaun Cassidy? Me too. And I will admit it, I have Da Do Run Run on my ipod. I admitted that in one of my classes once. We had bring in 10 things that represented us. I brought in my ipod because I listen to music so much. So I said I have a wide variety of music, anywhere from the beastie boys to quiet riot to shaun cassidy. Well, my teacher who was probably only a couple of years older than me put his head in his hands and just shook his head. I guess maybe I shouldn't have admitted that one:eek:. Good thing I couldn't find "I'm a little bit Country, and I'm a little bit Rock-n-roll" to put on my ipod-LOL That would have been an interesting reaction.

Rachel- how funny is that? you should get him to do Plyo legs:D. That'll really get him.

Mary- have fun with your workout.

Jo- I found out last night Tara is from Long Island. I'm not sure where though. I knew as soon as the 3 were standing there that she was not going to win. I didn't watch the shows, so I didn't get attached to any of them but after hearing the stories I wanted that kid to win. I shed a few tears when his dad was talking about his sons. I felt bad that the other son was left out. I hope that the dad and son can help him out. Jo where are you going on your long weekend? (if you don't mind sharing)

Kim- the cottage on the beach sounds wonderful. I hope you have a good time.

BBL
Stay strong and focused.

Thanks, Chrissy. I'll check out that site tonight when the kids go to bed.

Quiet day around here.

I was going to try to take the kids on a bike ride, but I gotta tell you....DOMS are kicking in in the lower half this afternoon! WOW! I was cutting the grass (YUCK) and every lap around the house I got tighter and tighter! lol So I think I'll treat the kids to homemade sundaes instead of going out (I was going to treat them to Rita's Italian Ice again). Stay close to home, in case I can't move in an hour! LOL

Gotta scoot.....sundaes are calling (none for me, I've learned to ignore the Sundae's voice. :)

Gayle

Hello Everyone!

Wow, we got some good posts in here today! I'll try to add a little.

This weekend I'm going to Oregon to see Mom and other family. I couldn't go over Mother's Day weekend, so I'm going down Friday and coming back Tuesday (it's about a 5 hour drive from me). I'm planning to do some heavy cleaning for her (like shampoo carpet, etc.). Things she can't do any more. I usually do this for her for Mothers Day. So we spend one day tearing apart her kitchen and cleaning EVERYTHING, then tackle another room the next day etc. She can't do that kind of heavy cleaning any more so I do it! Then next weekend we leave Friday for Montana to see friends and return the following Tuesday. So you see it can really mess up my workout schedule. I have it all worked out so I'll still finish STS when I planned to. So when I've been talking about doubling up, that was just moving cardio into an STS day and shortening my workout week. I haven't tried doing two STS workouts in the same day.

Oops gotta go...BBL to finish.

Okay, just finished disc 19 for the second time. My arms are jello so don't know how much I can type here.

Gayle Thanks for the recipe. I'm definitely going to try that one. Just wondering how you get to take a sick day when you're not sick. How does that work??

Jo I was kind of disappointed that Mike or Tara didn't win. I never cared for Helen, especially after she stayed and her daughter went home. I was glad that Jerry had won! What a nice thing you're doing for you mom! I'm sure she really appreciates it!

Mary It will definitely be too cold to swim! We'll be happy if the ice is off the lake. Forecast for snow tonight! The cottage belongs to my mom but usually the whole family (13 of us) go on the long weekends. It's closed up for the winter so will have lots of work to get everything going. We have a boat for waterskiing, canoes, ATV,etc. It can be fun but lots of work to maintain and sometimes some family conflicts on who does what, pays for what. We haven't planted the garden yet just getting in tilled, ordering some soil, probably end of May for planting.

Chrissy That's right, exercise physiology! What will you do after you graduate? We took some exercise physiology classes in my degree which is medical rehabilitation.(many many years ago) I always enjoyed those classes. I had to laugh at the Do ROn ROn comment, I loved Shaun Cassidy but the OSmonds even more!!! My mom just bought a machine which converts records onto cds and she was converting some of our old Osmonds and Shaun Cassidy records for us and we were playing them for the kids. LOL

Rachael LOL on the DH doing STS! Is he sore today? My DH is a long distance runner, marathons and he will occasional do a leg workout. He uses the leg workouts from meso 1 but he says since he's a guy he gets to use the same weights as the guys in STS. Have you ever notice how light the weights that the guys use in those workouts?? Don't worry about me and Victoria day, our next holiday is Canada Day (july 1st) which is close to your July 4th holiday

Kim

Hi Girls!

I had a busy day today and wasn't able to post until now...

I did disk 20 today, I went heavier on some stuff because I didn't want to change wrist weights inbetween individual trisets, and I did well, but I definitely got worked... I can already feel the doms coming.....

Gayle, for beans, I have a yummy salad recipe:

1 15 oz can pinto beans
2 TBSP extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves of garlic
sea salt and pepper to taste
optional: top with diced avocado and salsa

Combine ingredients, mix and enjoy! It tastes better the next day because it can marinate

you could also take the above recipe, puree it with sauteed onion and some vegetable broth as needed to make a dip for veggies, or you could use the puree as a bed for a poached egg and some salsa.

I hope that sounds appealing!

Rachel, I haven't yet taken the time to try the turkey burgers... So many things to try and so little time! I will probably try them now that it's more barbecue weather. You will like disk 20, it's tough but it also moves so fast!

About the daisy field, you all, the kids were sick on sunday, so we didn't get to take the pics, but hopefully we'll be able to go this weekend. DD is in bed with a temp again today... This thing just doesn't seem to stop. They are fine all day and then the temp shows up at night... at least ds ears are better. We thought it was an ear infection at first, but it looks like he was just suffering from swimmers ear... He's not hurting any more, so he should sleep through the night tonight. Now if I can only keep hubby from bumping into the bed at all hours of the night on his multiple trips during the night, maybe I can catch up on some sleep....:)

Gayle, the soup looks yummy, thanks for posting!

Sorry I can't stay longer, bb tomorrow!

Hello Everyone!

Gayle, yes I did get the amount, thanks. I am adding 5 grams post workout and another 5grams within 2 hours. My eating is really really clean. However some days I don't eat at all and I know that inhibits my results. The other thing is that although I am only 115 pounds I have a tremendous amount of loose skin. I have been 220 pounds with each kid I have, plus all the other times I was pregnant I was out of my regular clothes within 2 weeks and in maternity clothes!!! So I think the loose skin definetly affects how I look. Skin is skin and unless I get it chopped off it is not going anywhere. I have to get my pics from gf. I look a lot worse than I thought, so they are a great motivator.

I did disc 14 today. I liked the tri-sets. The only thing that got me through them was knowing I had a one minute rest coming up after each one.

Chrissy and Gayle, I am orginally from Long Beach NY and with the exception of the last year I am normally there 12 or so times a year at least. I am thinking the walk would be really cool to do.I will check out the site when i have time. Is there a date you have to register by? What a great way to utilize my new fitness level. Certainly something to look forward to. I think I could get another friend to join us as well (look at me inviting myself) LOL!!

Well not sure if I will get a workout in tomorrow. I am having gum surgery at 8am. I need to leave house by 6:30am, so I will see how it goes.

Julie- that would be great if you could join us. I do not know about a deadline. I have an application but don't see a specific date.
Good luck with that gum surgery-yuck!
You've lost a lot of weight. That is awesome julie. Great job.

Jo-have fun on your trip. What an awesome daughter you are!! Your mom is very lucky to have you.

Cendrine- Oh I hope your daughter feels better soon.

Kim and Rachel- not really sure what I am doing. I can go into cardiac rehab, stress testing, do some pulmonary stuff (not sure exactly what, I have not taken the pulmonary class yet) or I can train. I would love to be able to help women lose weight. Since I have struggled with it for so long. Hey-maybe cathe will let me be one of her interns.!!

I have got to go to bed. Oh my test was easy. I am pretty sure I got an A in the class. YAY me!!!

good night everyone
chrissy

Chrissy, Thanks. I don't ever think about the weight that I have lost because I have always been very thin. However I gained a ton of weight everytime I got pregnant because I have Hashimoto's. So I can take credit for gaining or losing the weight. My daughter was two months early, if I had gone to term I would have been closer to 300 pounds!!!
