6 Monthers, STS, Memorial Day Monday

Sure feels like a Sunday, doesn't it? :)

Happy Memorial Day to all you fine, young, gorgeous 6 Monther Peeps!!!!!

Jo, enjoy your company before they head out later. Good for you for getting them all out there and active.

I've decided to make today my Rest Day. We were up super late last night after cooking out with my friends/neighbors. We hung out in my garage with the candles and just chatted away. Before we knew it, it was midnight! And it takes me a while to settle down once I get to bed, so I was up super late. I've also decided to skip the 5K today. My shins are still sore from Saturday's race and I know how they'll feel today. I didn't pre-register, so I'm not losing any money on it. PLUS, I feel badly waking the kids on their last no-school day before going back tomorrow, so we're just hangin (and they're not even up yet and we would have had to leave by now anyway).

The only thing on my agenda is to hit the craft store early this morning (when the kids are up and at em). I'm working on some really cool cards and I need a few small (and inexpensive) things to add to them. Then it's home for R&R. I'm having my parents, my neighbor/friend and a few others over today just to hang out and grill. All healthy stuff (except for the bratwurst DS requested, lol). I'll keep it clean, promise!

Good morning Gayle and everyone else that follows! Today is going to be better. Yesterday I was in a real funk. But I am forcing myself out of it today.

I am going to do disc 16, plant a veggie garden and clean this stye of a house!!!!!!!!! Most important no junk. What was I thinking??? One more week of soft foods and then I get the stiches out. Then another 6 weeks to completely heal

Happy Memorial Day everybody!!!

Well I kind of had my day yesterday so it is just a Chillaxin' day for me. Although it was an IMAX2 day so I don' know how chill that was. I was so proud of myself too because last night before bed I thought I would probably take an easier day and do LIC but I just decided to go for it and try to make it through as much IMAX as possible and I went all the way. Now I know Cathe says Interval 10 is not hard but after I-9 grapevines are hard so I think she went a little loopy or something:p.
I hit the ground running yesterday after I posted and didn't stop until we got home last night at about 10:30. I just love to impress people with food:D. I made a Cooking light Roasted Potatoe salad, a delcious sauteed carrot, yellow squash, mushroom onion and garlic concoction, simple green beans, and of course homemade ww butterhorn rolls. Oh yeah I almost forgot those hummingbird cupcakes:p Not including a little bit of food prep for the week. Today I am going to try a whole chicken on the grill with a technique I saw in Cook's Illustrated...The summer grilling addition. I think this will be my last long weekend for a while...esp. since July 4 is on a Saturday:mad:. We were robbed:D

Julie-Oreos are my favorite processed cookie...DH does not like them at all so I can not bring them in this house or I will eat them very quickly and all by myself. So there would be no doubt who the guilty party would be:eek:. But like you said, today is a new day and the oreos will be a distant memory. Besides with all that you have been through with you gum surgery and DH I think you deserve some oreos. Just remember to clean it up some today and everything will get better when you are able to eat again!

Gayle- I swear I think you teach me something everyday...but this one I am embarrassed about. I have heard that expression all my life (up and at em) and it never dawned on me until I read your post that it wasn't 'up and adam'! I know what does adam have to do with it right?:D

Jo-I bet your friends are very impressed with you. Sometimes it can be disruptive to have company but you stuck to your squirt guns:p and stayed on schedule and took advantage of not going anywhere. You don't miss a minute. Oh yeah and congrats on Spreading the Health too. Way to be a good motivator.

Cendrine-I thought of you yesterday when I was whipping up my dishes and tried to clean them up as much as I could. I read something somewhere about grinding up oatmeal to make oat flour for a sub. for part of your flour in baked goods. Have you tried this? I was not able to get my oats as fine as I wanted to so I sifted them to get what I could and used that partially. But I really did not have enough to really tell how it would react if you could sub say half and half.

Well girls I am off to prep my chicken. I am going to make a chicken and white bean soup today and I will let you know how it turns out using part of my grilled chicken.

Hi Everybody!

I did disk 22 today. I worked hard and enjoyed the shorter time of the workout. However, the shoulder work was way too fast for me! I gotta remember next time that I can pause and finsih in my own time before moving on!

We had some changes of plans this weekend, so I had my celebrate/splurge day yesterday, a day short of our challenge, but I am taking today to formally finish the challenge... if that makes any sense.

Jo, I'll look through my recipes for some bean dishes for you. The lentil stew I made had beans in it, the pintos would work fine with it and it's a delish, high fiber high protein meal! You could even make it without the lentils and see how you like it! Congrats on finsihing meso 2! I can't believe how fast time goes! I know I keep saying that, but hey, it just keeps going!

Julie, good luck with all your work today! Sorry that healing takes so long!

Gayle, good call to rest, you don't want to mess yourself up for meso 3! the kids will be happy too, I bet, to be able to sleep more... As i'm typing this it's 8 am and dd is still asleep... she is usually up at 6 sharp... wonder what she was doing last night when I thought she was sleeping... I have seen her numerous times sitting in her bed looking through books. I have nooooo idea who she has the reading in bed thing from.....;) She sure is starting early...

Have a wonderful day, all!

Well today I did disc 16 for the first time. I am going to up my weights for some of the exercises. Then I spent the entire day outside with my kids! We planted a veggie garden, I did major weeding in one of my perenial beds. I just showered and I am going to cook dinner.

I am planning on doing some cardio tomorrow and abs, and the laundry I did not get to today. I have court on Friday for temporary orders. As of yet I have not heard who my STBX attorney is. There are some documnets that needed to be filed by my STBX and if not done by Friday the judge is going to dismiss the divorce! I am really hoping she makes him leave the house. But that is not likely. I ate pretty clean today. Actually not enough though. I could not even finish my lunch.

got to run

It looks like everyone is busy today.
Its back to work for me tomorrow so I will be checking in tomorrow night...maybe, I have to get up at 3:30 tomorrow because we have an early meeting:eek: Its Disc 22 for me tomorrow so I am glad it is a little shorter since I will probably be dragging a little tomorrow. But I am glad it is an STS day because that will get me out of bed for sure;)

I hope everyone had a great holiday.
Rachel

Ugg, I got the stomach flu from ds and have been sick yesterday and today. I called in sick to work today which I hate to do as all the patients just get cancelled as we have no back up. Feeling much better this evening and so hope to go back to work tomorrow.

Hope all my USA friends enjoyed their holiday today!

Hi Everyone! Wow, what a fun fun weekend I had! Everyone has gone on home. I AM TIRED! I did finish up Meso 2 as planned - YIPPEE!!! We did get in another 4 miles on the trail - DOUBLE YIPPEE!! Let the summer begin! :D

Gayle, hope you enjoyed your WELL DESERVED rest day! How did your day end with the family? So what's planned for your recovery week? Did you decide what you're doing about Meso 3 legs? I decided for sure I"m going with the plyo legs initially and then moving on to the squat rack. But let me know what you're doing. I will have to take a week off the first week of July to go to Ohio so I thought when I come back I will have my schedule worked out for the squat legs.

Julie, herbs and now veggies? How fun for you and the kids! Nothing like a little dirt therapy! :D I've never heard of dismissing the divorce...that must be specific to your state, but I sure hope all goes well for you.

Rachel, your cracking me up with Chillaxin! I'm going to have to borrow that one! I love it! Also, you really crack me up about the up and adam. Your food dishes sound awesome! Your carrot and squash concoction sounds right up my alley - I love squash! Thank you for the "health" compliments! I love bossing people around and seeing them do it without reservation! (Especially when it means I'm staying on track! Is that mean? nah!) We also made everyone eat healthy. I'm not kidding...there were no desserts - only fruit; we had the crab & shrimp louies; smoked salmon ceasars (except I don't do ceasar); crab cakes and tilapia; steamed vegetables with sliced almonds. Things like that. (But GF and I made everything very interesting so no one felt food cheated!) People know they have to eat healthy at my house!

Cendrine, I loved Disc 22 but it really got my shoulders too! Yes, I would love to try the lentil stew recipe, but no hurry...when you have time! :) I love hearing about dd reading. I have that terrible (life long) habit also. DH always complains about my reading in bed...but after all these years I'm not sure why! :p I read in bed every night even if it's only 2 pages. It helps me get my mind off of work and everything else. Besides, I love the quiet of the house and being able to get lost in whatever I'm reading. (I was one of those kids in bed with my flashlight!)

Kim, I'm so sorry you were under the weather! I do hope you are better tomorrow but take care of yourself! Thank you, I had an exceptional weekend. Part of what was so great was the fabulous weather. We haven't had three days of sun over Memorial day weekend in like 20 years. It always rains at least one day! You take care!

Looking forward to a great week. I haven't quite figured out what I'm doing for my workouts this week, but I know cardio coach and my spinning bike will be in there! If the weather holds...I may spend some time on the trail.

I also wanted to say thank you all for this check-in! I was reflecting tonight on how far we've come and I really enjoy being a participant of this group. I know I would have done the rotation no matter what, but chatting with all of you has really helped me stay focused and have the desire to work harder. This is such a nice group we have and I really enjoy it and appreciate each and every one of you!

Now work harder!

Jo,

I know it sounds crazy to dismiss. But basically my STBX lawyer fired him and the proof of service was never filed. My STBX showed up to court without a lawyer. Judge ordered proof of service to be filed and ordered STBX to compliy with the discovery rule. STBX has done neither. Court is Friday for temporary orders.
