6 Monthers - STS Alumni Tuesday 9/22

I got up and did Imax 2 today (what a good girl I am!). Then, while I was eating breakfast (before shower) the UPS man showed up with my Tower! Yippee! I didn't have time to open as I had to get going but it has arrived!

Okay, so then showered and off to ENT. Yes, I have another sinus infection so another 3 weeks of antibiotics. (I just finished the last round 4 weeks ago!) The Dr put a scope down in my sinus (both of them) and took a culture then proceeded to tell me that surgery was probably my only option which will help with both the headaches and infections. I probably told you all this a while back, but I had sinus surgery 15 years ago for headaches. The Dr (she) said that there are some places that they can still make adjustments that wasn't done in the first surgery (it didn't require it at the time). So the big question is...why after all these years am I having problems again? I went approximately 12 years with no infections (but still had headaches) and then started having infections again about 2 years ago. But previously I had a headache everyday...literally EVERY DAY...so the original surgery did alleviate most of my headaches but not all. Anyway, something for me to think about. Dr is not pressuring me in any way but we looked at my previous cat scans, etc. and discussed. I will probably get a 2nd opinion before I would choose to do that but I just don't want to do it AGAIN! Good news is they don't pack the sinuses like they used to so she said it's not as uncomfortable.

Okay, got to get some work done!

Hi Everyone!

Jo, yay, your tower is here! Are you going to have an extra workout today justs so you can try it out? I might do that myself...LOL!

What a drag about your sinus infection! Aren't you glad for antibiotics, though? I keep wondering how people fared way back when they just had to somehow get over it or not... By the time I usually get antibiotics I am so miserable and the medicine works so well it's such a relief!
I hope you get some good advice and help in making up your mind about what to do re sinuses. Surgery sounds like such an easy answer but surgery scares me tons. Too bad they didn't take care of the areas that seem to need it now, then, huh?

You know, gift certificates are just what I am hoping for! Yesterday a jewelry catalogue came in the mail and dh told me to sit down with him and show him what I liked (he has been wanting to buy me more jewelry all year and I keep telling him that I don't need any jewelry...) So he was at it again and I told him that I was much more interested in completing my cathe collection... He rolled his eyes and sayd, well, if this is what it's gonna take for you to let me buy you jewllry, then go ahead and hurry and finish your collection! :D I'not sure how serious he was... But I may be closer to getting my wishlist to shrink than I thought...!LOL!

Okay, I got back into working out today. It was hard after a few days off. I got started on week 8 of CLX. I'm getting anxious about finishing it and trying Insanity.

Jo Sounds like you have a big decision to make about the surgery! Hope the antibiotics make you feel better soon! Did you get the tower set up??

Cendrine You're going to have two men buying you Cathe dvds for your birthday!!! What's on your wish list??

Still reading:D:D

Chapter 4: The Business of Food: Creating Highly Rewarding Stimuli

-""Higher sugar, fat and salt make you want to eat more," a high-level food industry executive told me. I had already read this in the scientific literature and heard it in conversations with neuroscientists and psychologists. Now an insider was saying the same thing."
- the food industry creates dishes that use sugar, fat, and salt to make food compelling, indulgent.
-during the past 2 decades there has been an explosion in our ability to access and afford highly palatable foods. Americans spend 50% of today's food dollars in restaurants
-sugar, fat, and salt are either loaded onto a core ingredient (such as meat, vegetable, potato, or bread) , layered on top of it, or both. Deep-fried tortilla chips are an example of loading-the fat is contained in the chip itself. When a potato is smothered in cheese, sour cream, and sauce, that's layering.

The rest of the chapter he uses specific food dishes (mostly from Cheescake Factory) and explains where the sugar, fat and salt is hidden even in healthy sounding items.

Cendrine, that was an interesting comment that you made after the lchapter 3. How your DH does have the compulsion to continue eating high-sugar, high-fat, high salt foods. I'll let you know if he writes about why some people avoid this if the future chapters.

Kim, thanks for the summary! I remember stuff now from the article I read in Nutrition Action, it mentioned the points you are summarizing. I have a funny feeling I am not going to think that the solution is all that easy...

How much longer do you have before you can try insanity? I'll be curious to hear your review on it!

what's on my Cathe wishlist?
To make my collection complete here is what I still need:
*The terminator
*pyramid upper and lower body
body blast timesaver series (does anyone have that and would you recommend it?)
*supersets and push and pull
kick, punch and crunch, legs and glutes
high step circuit (I'm not sure on this one)
*muscle max
kick max
*hardcore extreme
*gym style series
core max (will probably skip this one)
*cardio fusion
The ones with a star are the ones I would probably go for first. But I think I will end up with all of them eventually...:eek:

Hello guys I am still alive...Barely!:D
We are still working our butts off with not a soon end in sight. I might have already said this but I think the other crew that we are here helping is going to bale on us. That is a long story that I will have to tell you about another time...
I went to the gym on Monday but we got back to the motel at 9:45 so needless to say I did not get in bed until about 11 so I slept in till 6 instead of getting up at 4. I am not sure if I am going tomorrow. I am trying to keep up with my workouts but it is hard. I am trying to concentrate on getting this job over with . Since I know it is not going to be that long I am not freaking out too much about it. We are working so hard I lost about 5 pounds so I do not really need any cardio, just weights. I am just living through all of yalls workouts right now.;)

Cendrine-You will have to tell me how you like pure strength. That one is in the Sept. rotation too and I am going to sub something for it but I was wondering if I should add it to my wish list too.
I always start my rotations on Monday too. Also a creature of habit. I would also way prefer my workout dvds over jewelry, but that is sweet of your dh.

Kim-It sounds like you had a great time on you shopping trip. I have not even started my christmas shopping yet. Every year I say I am going to start early and never do. Right now I just don't even have the time. I am a horrible shopper anyway. i never know what to get anyone. How is CLX coming along? So far do you like sts better?

Jo-You poor thing. You are definitely a glass half full kind of gal, I tell ya! I just don't think anything could get you down. I am so glad you are on this forum. Because tonight when I got back to the motel room I was feeling all sorry for myself and then I read all your upbeat posts and how happy you were over the fava bean salad. That is great!

OK guys I am going to try to get some shut eye! Wish me luck!

Rachel
