~~~6 month STS alumni~~Week of March 7th~~~
I definitely have a touch of something. Don't feel great but not real bad either. Besides our friend, I guess 1/2 the office is/has been sick also so I can't get away from it! Zicaming.... :D
I did Stretch Max with the resistance bands this morning...that was nice!
I'm a bad bad bad bad girl!
Want to know why?
Curious?
What did I do????
Bad bad bad bad girl!
I joined the gym! But not the one I've been going to this week!
Uggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:confused::p;):D:(:):cool::eek::confused::p:eek::rolleyes:
Long story short....
Our gym pass ends tomorrow. So today GF and I went over to the next Gold's Gym on our list (for a free week) and the other one closest to home and office (10 minutes from both). Well...it's TWICE the SIZE, TWICE the nice, TWICE the classes, brand new and even has a designated yoga room, spinning room and movie room. And though we had no plans of joining...the price was cheaper than the other gym AND had a special today and so no enrollment fees! And, oh my gosh, you should see the locker room! Also, juice bar, wi-fi area, fireplace, big cushy chairs (remember it's the northwest!), more equipment then I've ever seen. And in the locker room, TV, couch, big chairs, sauna, steam room. Anyway, I signed up for a year and since I'm not traveling any more, I can make good use of it.
Here's the link: go check out the pictures!!!
And girls, let's be clear! I'm not giving up Cathe or you or working out at home! I just need this little change and some new options. I bought couple membership for both me and DH. Also GF bought one for her and her DH but now I can work with her. She doesn't have any equipment at home except 3 lb db's.
There, now you have the bad girl confession! Now please come visit me and we can all go pamper ourselves!
For shame JO!....Just kidding. When I looked at those pics, I almost joined...haha. And I briefly looked at the classes and WOW what choices! I want to know more about Body Attack!!!! It sounds like so much fun! Man oh Man why can't we all live near each other! We do not even have a Gold's near where I live. The closest one in about an hr from here. I told you we are in the sticks!
I just wanted to say that I think it is great that you are adding something new. How long has it been since you were a gym member??? I think shaking up your fitness routine is going to add new excitement just like when I add a new food group to my diet. I always feel healthier and I am sure this gym thing will do the same for you. Not to mention that you get to inspire your friend! That alone is worth everything! I am super HAPPY for you!:D:D:D:D:D:D
Now just don't work your self to death!:p
Well recovery week is nearing it's end and if I would have thought about it , I might have tried to schedule it to where it started next week. That one is going to be a toughy! Time change, a tough week of work and the end of my cycle all mean for the perfect storm of super fatigue!:eek: I am already siking myself up for it so maybe I am where my mind goes my body will follow...One can hope! lol
One last thing for you Jo...I would miss you terribly if you went away so I am glad you are not !!!!I look forward to hearing about all the cool things the gym has to offer and all the classes you try out!
Kim and Cendrine...I hope you both get a minute to relax and catch your breath!
Have a great Day!
Rachel!
So whatever this is cold is it's in my chest right now. I have a very slight cough and just feel tired. No congestion. Zicaming like crazy. The bummer is I want to go to the gym today but decided not a good idea. So I did do Step Moves this morning but modified it so I did very little impact. I had the energy to do something but not full on!
Rachel, also, for what it's costing me for the year at the gym is what I would have paid (with reasonable airfare) to go to the Cathe RT. (So that's how I presented it to DH!) Glad you enjoyed the recovery week and too bad it's out of line with your next week! But you'll tough it out I know! The last time I had a gym membership was in 2002. I was working in CA by where Cendrine lives and was commuting every week from here. So I would fly down Monday mornings and home Friday night. So during the week I went to 24 hour fitness to workout and then did my DVD's on the weekends at home. But never was able to go to their classes because of my schedule so was mostly just using machines. It served it's purpose but didn't have the fun factor I'm having now! Yowza! And thank you Rachel! I would miss you too! No, I want to share share share my experiences! You're still my only fitness buddies!
Hello Kim and Cendrine! Got to get busy!
How crazy , Jo...I did not realize you had a work schedule like that at one time. Did you have an apartment in California or just hotel it?
I know what you mean about schedules and classes because for the most part , I would never be able to make it to a class which is exactly what would make a gym fun. When I first started working out that is where I did it and I do not miss waiting for people to get done with the weight machines to use them. Nor did I like the stares from the big guys thinking I was just in their way...Then of course I got the jaw drops when they realized I could pump iron like the rest of them...haha
I am so glad it is Friday! DH and I have a few more days at this job next week and then we should be done. I do not think our next job is going to be this laid back. This is kind of a country bumpkin job where everyone knows everybody by the end. I love that. Although I am ready for a new drive to work. That is one thing about always working somewhere different...New scenery.
Did any of you use your coupon from Cathe? I really am itching to use mine but I just don't know what for. I wish there was an offer on there for t-shirts:(
Maybe I will have time over this weekend to give it a look and see if anything says...You NEED Me! lol
Well I have gabbed enough! TTYT
Rachel
Hi Girsl,
sorry I didn't post yesterday! You guys sure posted a lot in the meantime! A gym! How fun! I had a membership back in 98 at 24hr fitness. It was ok, but I did not like the favorite cardio machines being hogged....:rolleyes: It served it's purpose like you all said, but Cathe is way more fun!
The gym you joined is looking really nice, no wonder you joined, and I just had to laugh about how you presented it to dh! LOL! You and me think so alike!
Rachel, I'm glad work is going well and you get a change of scenery! I kind of do my own version of that by choosing different parks that are new to take my kids to so we have something new to explore!
So I was at Chiro yesterday and had a little 'counseling' session ;) When I came home I felt a lot lighter... And tackled Cathe's Cardio and Weights today! I enjoyed it tons! Talking with Chiro helped me realize that I was having 'church' stress and I had known that but needed someone to agree with me that I did not need to keep teaching Sunday school and that I could just stay home and rest. So I called the overseer today and this Sunday is my last teaching duty! Whoo hooo! I can't tell you guys how light I feel. I have been doing this for years and more often than not I have covered other shifts because of now shows or because there were not enough workers. This does not sound like a big deal to me but I felt validated by chiro that in fact it is. I am almost convinced that my neck issues might start getting better simply because I don't have the pressure looming over me of tackling a room ful of kids. I always was of the opinion that if you have kids going to Sunday school you needed to be involved to help it run itself, so it felt odd for me to step down. But the overseer was well aware of my double dutying and had no problems giving me a break. They do have a policy that if you take advantage of the sunday school for your kids then you need to work in it, but It seems like I was always the only parent working in there. All the other people were either teenagers or non parents wanting to spend time with kids. Hopefully this will force some parents to step up to the plate. And if it comes down to it and I am asked to work again before I'm ready, I am feeling so free right now that I will have no problem simply not bringing my kids to Sundayschool. Sorry for the wordy vent....:eek:
Well, have a nice weekend, all!
Cendrine, glad you're back! WOW - see it's amazing what stress can do to your body! I'm glad you were able to identify what it was and ultimately get some relief! You even sound lighter and relieved in your post! I'm glad it's all going to work out! And even better, you got to enjoy a good Cathe workout!
Rachel, I did the CA commute for 13 months and rented a room from my friend only at the time she was my realtor! We were originally going to move and changed our minds and as it turned out, my friends husband had started a business over in the desert (Palm Springs) so he was gone during the week and home on weekends, I was there during the week and went home on weekends. So she had been helping me look for a house and then I said we changed our minds, can you help me find a studio apt and she said "move in with me!" She had a 3-bedroom condo, no kids and a spare room! We had already struck up a friendship and we're very compatible. I paid a third of what it would have cost me and she made a little money too! So it worked out perfect!
Okay everyone enjoy your weekend! TTYL!
Good Morning Everyone!
I went to bed early and woke up early! I guess I'm preparing for the time change (yeah!) so I'm sitting here having my coffee. When I woke up I am not sure if I'm a little better or a little worse - have more of a cough and some congestion but had a good nights sleep. I really want to go to the gym this morning so I'll just see how I feel over the next hour or so. And, of course, I won't go if I feel I might be contagious. So far I haven't been sneezing or anything like that and the coughing has been early morning and late night.
Hope everyone has a great day and don't forget to change your clocks tonight!
This week has been an absolute blur. But I got lots accomplished at home and worked alot of extra hours at the hospital. My friends' DH is still in hospital and will be there awhile. There was no physical damage but he is in a severe depression, they are considering shock treatments. She has got hooked up with the social worker who is really helping her with organizing finances Also the psychiatrist is meeting with her once a week and that seems to be helping as she is feeling more "in the loop" and not as lost. I'm mostly now able to be a good phone buddy when she needs me.
I slept into after 8 this morning and I feel so refreshed!!! It's so spring like here, it's warm +8 today!!:D:D What an early spring! The paperwork is finally all done for the new house, we decided to move the laundry room to the basement, and put in a fireplace (we had 14 days to make final decisions without extra costs). So now we're waiting for the building permit to come through from the city, that could be a few weeks and then the digging will begin!! I'm finally starting to get more excited than nervous!
Now I feel that I have so many projects that I want to do around this house. I updated my scrapbook this week to put in our Disney and Christmas pictures, now I want to clean out my scrapbooking stuff. Next, I want to clean out the Christmas decorations and then take over to my mom's for storage. I really want to declutter/clean before we put the house on the market probably may/june. My mom has a huge house and she said we can store stuff over there. So I'm going to comb through everything and decide to donate/store/toss and then if we can live without it for awhile(like Christmas decorations) it's going to my mom's.
I can't believe I didnt' work out all week:eek:but will start Meso 3 either today or tomorrow.
Jo I think the gym sounds like fun! It looks like a beautiful gym! It'll be great to have different options. It sounds like your friend is doing amazing! Did she joined too?? Well it seems like you have been exercising enough to make up for my lazy week!! Hopefully you can take some rest time this week and start to feel better!!
Cendrine Congrats to you on letting the Sunday School go. SOmetimes you don't even realize that stress that things are causing you until they're gone. DH and I are like you, always the volunteers, DH has coached hockey, baseball, run the boyscouts and I've been the daycare treasurer for years and for many years I was very involved in my professional associations. I gave up the professional stuff a year ago when I really realized how resentful I was getting about other people not volunteering. There is always a few people that volunteer for everything but sometimes you need to just step back and see if that encourages others to step forward. How exciting for you to do Cardio and Weights!!!!! My sister's birthday is next week and I ordered her IMAX 2/C & W, so I'm curious to see if she likes them.
Rachael How is that tweaky hip?? Which day are you starting with Meso 3? I don't calorie count or follow a diet plan, I've tried all that in the past and can't stand doing it. I just try to eat healthy but I know I overeat a little and so am a few lbs overweight. I have to agree with Jo on the active meditation, I think a good cardio workout can be the same for some as Yoga is for others. My DH used to laugh at me when I did the P90X rotation. Once a week the rotation called for YogaX which is a very tedious 90 minutes, so I used to set it up on a portable dvd and do it while watching TBLon the main tv. I loved the results of the Yoga but found it so boring!
Have a good weekend!
Hi Guys,
I just finished cleaning the house, and this round, I enlisted the family big time! LOL! Of course you know things will not get done the way it would if you did it, but it was super fun to see the kids getting into the whole cleaning drill. Ds was complaining at first and then he said it as actually fun, and dd never complained at all, she was ready to go and kept going. It's so nice to have a clean house, and I'm sure as the kids get more practice their jobs will get done better and better as well.
Kim, I am going to try what you do in decluttering and sorting through things , but I am going to wait until summer break. I so need to work on my scrap books though! I loved reading what you wrote about the volunteer dilemma, I so agree, as I'm sure you know. You know, I think my eating was affected by this stress as well because I found myself eating when not hungry at all, and now, ever since finally deciding that I needed a break, eating has been much more controlled! Whew! So now I am thinking of getting a good long massage to massage away all the tension, I have a feeling this time it might actually be worth it since I won't be putting in new knots where the old ones were the next day....
Jo, I hope you are better and get to go have some fun at the gym! I get those weird coughs too, where I just cough morning and evening. Odd.
We were reading a story in our read alouds about a little chinese boy and he got to eat dumplings and noodles, so we are going to have dumplings and noodles at the local noodle house for lunch later today...:)
Good afternoon ladies...It is turning out to be a beautiful day here too! I slept in to , Kim. I opened my eyes and it was daylight outside and I almost freaked not remembering that it was Saturday. I had big plans of getting some good stretching in but since I did not wake up till 7 , I felt like my mind would not be in it since I would be thinking of all the other stuff I needed to get done today, so I skipped it and might try to get it in later when I get done with everything else.
We got another window in that we had ordered and I was going to try and pick it up while DH is helping his soon to be ex step dad with his driveway but when I measured the car I realized that I might get there and it not fit. I did not want to be one of those people that you see at walmart or best but that buy a tv and when they get it to their car they can not get it in so I am going to wait for dh! haha
SO I am going to get some cooking done today. One thing I am doing is the quinoa lasagna that someone had put a link to on the recipe forum. I am hoping it turns out good and since dh doesn't like the idea of lasagna that is not traditional, I will make him a regular one. If the healthy one turns out well , I will let yall know. I am making a few additions, mushrooms and red bell pepper so I will report in if it turns out.
Jo-I know you are just itching to go to the gym! I can tell from your post but I am very proud of you for not trying to spread the wealth of germs. I wished more people would stay home when they are sick. It sounds like you are maybe getting over the hump though and are starting to get better.
Cendrine-Good for you. I always feel like I used to get bullied into things that I did not necessarily want to do and I know how stressful that can be. It is a lot of extra responsibility to do that every week especially if you do it anything like you do your home schooling. I don't think you are a half a## kind of person so I am sure it is stressful to try and keep it up at the same quality when it is not something that you want to do at that moment.
I love how you incorporate the food from your lessons into your meal plans. That is going to be so great for your kids for the rest of their lives. I think it is going to make such great memories for them. Food is so much a part of our lives and it is great that you can tie every day events into great memories instead of just having those memories with the traditional food related holidays!
Kim-It is great to see you back...My tweaky hip is lots better. I think it was a combo of everything not just the stretching. I wear a tool pouch at work and I think I compensate and lean a certain way and I think that contributes to the flare ups.
You are lucky to have free place to store stuff while you are in the process of all this stuff. That takes a lot of stress off. You do not have to worry about having to hurry and get your stuff in and out of storage. I would love a good reason to declutter. I think I am about as decluttered as I am going to get. My DH is such a pack rat and he shudders when I even mention going through things and getting rid of stuff. Thank goodness he has a 24x24 music studio with a loft attic to store alot of his stuff in. I think it is because he has so many interest. He gets tied to things sentimentally more than I do.
OK I better get to cooking. Quinoa Lasagna first and then regular.
Have a great day!!!!!!
Rachel
Well I did end up going and doing a Body Pump class, then 20 minutes on the TM (just walking) then came home. So considering how much fun I was having at the first gym...this one is even more FUN!!! LOL! I guess it helps that anything fitness related is fun to me so I'm easy to please! :p Anyway, this gym seems to just step it up a notch. The instructor was up on a platform so it was easier to see.
So what's up with this?...usually when I do Power Hour I do the leg segments with 25 lbs. In the class we are using those Troy Lite weights like Cathe uses and I was at 15 and it totally felt like 25! Same with biceps...everything! I was way lighter and it felt as heavy. I love the energy of the live class. As I said, it's a nice change and fun to workout with a friend. You know I've been working out by myself since FOREVER like 1986! (Okay dating myself I know!)
Kim, like Cendrine, you sound calmed down now that the house is signed. I am so sorry for your friend. I can only imagine what she's dealing with and talk about stress! WOW! What an ordeal. Think how good you're going to feel once you get done decluttering! That is one good thing about moving!
Rachel, I would be waiting for DH to help you too! Ha ha! Nothing worse than standing in a parking lot trying to figure out how to make some awkward sized item FIT! Your lasagna sounds yummy! Let us know how that turns out. So are you starting Meso 3 Monday? I think I am at the top of the hump on this cold! It has moved up into my sinuses but I'm not sneezing or anything - still zicaming! I'll be to bed early again tonight.
Cendrine, good for you for having the kids help! I'm with you too, I like a clean house. I've been trying to declutter (you know how I keep talking about my closet?) Well, so this afternoon, since I didn't feel like standing, I went in and did all the drawers and cupboards in our bathroom (master bathroom) and I'm feeling accomplished already. I think I needed a little completed project before really getting into the closet. So how were those dumplings and noodles? Also, are you sore at all from C&W?
TTY tomorrow! Don't forget to change your clocks!
