6 month alumni weekly check in 10/25

Wasn't around yesterday as ds and I went to the clinic to get our shots. H1N1 in one arm and the seasonal flu shot in the other. We both have asthma and I work in a hospital that had a real high number of cases the first time around. So I'm not taking any chances.

Feeling achy and tired today (so is ds). I think it is a side effect of the shots as well as DOMS from Insanity. So will take tonight off, ds is napping before hockey practice.

Going to relax and watch TBL tonight and hopefully get back into workouts tomorrow.

Hey Kim,
I'm glad you are taking it easy after getting the shots! Enjoy tonight and I'll be interested to know how Insanity does for you!

I'm leaning toward not getting the vaccine, I may not have a good chance at getting it anyway since I am not in the recommended groups for it. I'm hoping that all my green eating and all will pay off this fall and winter!

I'm not staying on the comuputer long tonight, I hope you had a good day, Rachel, from the looks of it it looks like it was a busy one!

Okay, I know Kim is all for H1N1! So that answers that question! I'm like you Cendrine, we (Rachel too) are all in the low risk group so it may not be available to us anyway!

Kim, hope you're better tomorrow and we can catch up on TBL!

Shout out to Rachel: hope you didn't work too hard today!

TBL starts in 25 minutes...I'm going to go fix a delicous juice! :p

Hi Everyone!

I did HIS circuit today. It was easier than Bootcamp lower body, let me tell you! Not that it was easy but it didn't have me dripping all over the floor like the bootcamp and leg combo...LOL! I'm so glad Cathe included circuit premixes for 4DS, I get twice as much out of that series this way!

We are taking a week off homeschooling this week. The last two days I spent deep cleaning the house, which it really needed and it is now sparkling for 3 seconds before my family continues living in it...LOL! But today we don't do anything, today we, even dh, who was able to take the day off, are going to spend the day at Disneyland (gotta love those passes!)

So that is my check in for now, because I will be gone for the day. I hope all of you are doing well and having fun doing your workouts!

Hello! Cendrine, hope you are having a fun fun day!!!

I woke up and planned to do Disc 20 legs but wasn't feeling to well. My throat hurt (but not sore) and I feel kind of like I'm getting a cold but not. So it might be allergies. I haven't felt any worse as the day as worn on, but I'm not quite right. There was a lady sneezing (and not using the elbow) behind me in security when I was flying home Sunday so I hope I didn't pick up something. So we'll see how I feel tomorrow. So no sniffles, my throat just feels weird and I feel a little tired.

Hope everyone is doing okay today! It has really turned cold. I went out to run an errand and it was only 42. Glad I had that warm weekend in CA! I know I'm not as cold as Kim is...but I don't want it to be cold yet!!!

BBL!

Wow...I just finally had a chance to look at the slide show from Daytona. That looks like a whole lot of fun! There is some very fit women in those pictures! I'm very impressed, and inspired! I really hope I can go to one of those. And now that I see those pictures, I really want to go to San Diego if there is any way I can do it. But like you mentioned Saturday Cendrine...spend money on road show vs more workouts! Well, we can dream! LOL!

Oh my goodness...Yall have been chatting a lot.!!!:p
I tried to catch up this morning early but the site was down or at least check ins and challenges was.

It has been a whirl wind. Today was a little bit stressed at work so I thought I just could not wait to get home ad then I walk in the door and there is a bloody mess! My cat was acting weird this morning before we left and now I know why...There was a mouse. Since we were not here to stop her I guess she decided to go ahead and have it as an afternoon treat! Uhhh gross! So then I was going to get on the net to see the best way to get the stains out before carpet cleaning (thank goodness I have one) and then I could not get the computer to work!!! Finally DH to the rescue. He was outside tending to the dogs so when he came in , I accosted him with a whole host of problems.

I was so disappointed that this was going to eat up all my spare time tonight and I thought I would again not get to check in...Then DH stepped in and after we used peroxide to loosen up the stain (thanks internet), he is in there shampooing away...I always knew he was the one for me:p:D;)

Jo-Thanks for all the encouragement...It is such a sticky situation but I know I have yall to vent to! Thankyou all so much!
I am so glad you are back!

Cendrine-It sounds like your circuits are kicking your butt like mine are...This is my first week. I am not sure if I ever remember doing a circuit rotation! SO this should be interesting!

Kim-I am sorry the shots have got you down. Take it easy so maybe you will recover faster! I know that is easier said than done. For me at least...I feel like if I can just sweat I will recover faster. But that is not very rational!

Tomorrows workout is bootcamp the original, and abs. It is a short one. But I will give it my all!

I am so glad I have you guys. Have a great night!

Rachel

It's not cold here, it's a beautiful 45 F/7C which is honestly a great temperature for this time of year. It's supposed to be -6 for Halloween night though:(

Okay, I'm taking a few days off from working out, and I"m not going to feel guilty about it (really I'm not). I'm very obsessive about my workouts so this is hard for me. I took yesterday off, today I had a meeting at the school from 6-8pm, kids have friends running around. DS needs baking for his Halloween party and I don't have the ingredients, DH is at a hockey meeting. My PF is bothering me AND I'm dreading doing Insanity.

Whew, I think I should have taken a rest week between CLX and Insanity, I did 2 days of those really tough Insanity workouts, and I'm dreading them already. I'm usually so excited about my workouts. I'm going to take the rest of the week off and maybe see what Cathe puts out for her November rotation. Cathe workouts are just so much more fun maybe I just need to go back to her and keep Insanity for a change next spring after the other STS rotation.

Anyways right now I just need a few days off before deciding.

Jo I hope you're not getting sick! The whole H1N1 thing is quite confusing, I feel like I'm really in the middle of it at the hospital where I work and with ds have fairly severe respiratory issues there was no question for me. When I ask drs in the hospital where I work (which is one of the largest in Canada and is connected to the Centre for Infectious Disease that identified the H1N1 virus last spring and worked on the vaccine) they all say to get it. I've heard from ER, infectious diseases, and ICU doctors that they believe to get it and to get the kids done. So I'm trusting their judgements. Lots of controversy out there though.

What did you think of the TBL last night?? I cried and cried. DD watched it with me and it got her pretty upset thinking of Abby losing her family:( We had to cuddle at bedtime.

Rachael What a stressful morning you had ! Glad you got everything fixed! So is this job going to be such crazy hours as some as the others?

Cendrien Hope you had fun with Mickey especially since DH got to go! 32 sleeps till our Disney trip!!! Are you going to get passes for next year?
Kim

Hi Guys,

I'm back and wiped out...lol! It felt cold here at 61 this morning. Glad I packed a sweater, the cold wind didn't ease up all day. But it was nice to not have to stand in line in the heat and the lines were not so bad at all except for the ones where they give you your parking ticket and the one where they check your bags, those were bad today!

I'm sore in my back, chest and glutes, hamstrings from doing the 4DS circuits, tomorrow is cardio only, Rhythmic step, looking forward to it! Rachel, what circuit rotation are you doing? Your husband is so nice to help you with the mess! I always feel extra grateful to my hubby when he steps up to help with some unpleasant things, knowing full well that not all guys are that quick to help. I have to remind myself to tell him often how much I appreciate that in him, it is easy to take it for granted when you don't see what others are missing... Makes you want to spoil them, doesn't it?

Jo, I hope you were able to kick whatever thing is trying to get you down! I would hate for you to get sick! I hope you have some extra time for some extra rest and tlc! You know when I was looking at the pics from Daytona, my reaction was the same as you: Boy are they in good shape, I better shape up some, and yes, I really want to go!!!! LOL!

Kim, I am so glad you are giving yourself some time off, it sounds like lots of stuff is going on! I can understand about Insanity and it sort of confirms my fears that it would be too tough for me, tough enough to not be enjoyable. I'd rather stick with stuff I enjoy and do them than plan them and then dread doing them. I'm sure you will feel better and more up to it later, for now some more familiar stuff sounds just like the ticket for you!
As far as Disneyland goes, it sure is addictive that place! We are thinking of getting passes again next year, because the kids are enjoying it so much and it is so close and easy for us. I'm amazed how quickly your trip is coming up, it seems like it will be tomorrow! Are you getting excited?

Well, I'm signing off, talk to you all tomorrow!

Last post of the night for me....

Rachel...animals! You got to love them huh? :p My DH would be doing the same as yours - sounds like we all have great guys and that's the way we like it! I think you need some serious pampering! You need to treat yourself to something special to help relieve some of this stress you're dealing with! (Shopping maybe? :p Like a new Cathe workout?)

Cendrine, glad you had fun today! Don't you just love 4DS series? Glad you're bodies getting your money's worth! LOL! Yes, I was thinking the same about those ladies bodies...I better get in better shape! LOL!

Kim, take the time and recharge! You'll come back stronger than ever! Sorry you're dreading those Insanity workouts, but you're making me glad I didn't get them! I'm feeling I want to get the vaccine. I'm all for preventive measures if they are available and I appreciate your input. Oh and Kim on TBL - I was crying and crying too! DH kept saying to me: are you kidding? This is all staged! I said: Even if it is, what's happened to her is gut wrenching! I hope she can get a great guy and start another family! Weren't her kids adorable? Her story is so tragic yet she is so inspiring!

So I don't know what's going on. I'm not feeling sick...just this weird throat thing and I'm tired...but then I was fine all afternoon. But no congestion or movement up into my sinuses like I have a cold. Well tomorrow I'll know for sure if there's something going on. The other thing is maybe I do have something but with all this clean eating I'm really fighting back! (I hope!) I am not one to get sick very often anyway; just those headaches. I think I had a tiny cold last winter but before that I hadn't had a cold in about 3 years. Oh, and I take the Zicam rapid melts for good measure!

Okay enough talk - I'm going to bed and read! Talk tomorrow!

Jo, love, love, love Zicam! I'm typically like you and don't get sick very often, I hope this is just an allergy thing or something that is gone as quick as it came! I sense a little allergy action here, too!

Sorry TBL was so emotional for you guys, makes me want to go check it out... although I really don't feel like I need a cry...LOL!

I did Rhythmic step today. THis was only my second time and I just confirmed my first impression of it: this is one of my new favorites! So fun!

Well, there is definately something going on! My throat is still weird and this morning my voice was raspy. Still no congestion and still don't feel any worse other than being tired. So I skipped my workout again as I don't want to over tax my system. I also made myself this juice for an extra boost: Kale, romaine, red pepper, ginger, and granny smith apple. (Yes, delicious of course!) Kim, is it possible I just have a slight cold in my throat? I guess that would work as I hate congestion!!

Cendrine, TBL was both sad crying and happy crying! So it wasn't like we came away depressed! We were crying for what this gal has been through and crying for the joy of what she's accomplished and what lies ahead! It was just emotional and us girls just cry! She was very inspiring! I'm so glad you like Rhythmic Step! That is my main "go to" for steady state cardio.

Rachel, hope you're having a good day!

Kim, hope your PF is better and you're having a good day!

BBL!

Jo, I'm so sorry you are still fighting something! Good call on your part to not overdo with a workout and let your body use the energy to heal the rest of you. If you got grapefruitseedextract yet, you could gargle with it. It tells on the front and back under the label all the different uses and one of them is gargling.

Hope you feel better soon!

Cendrine thanks for reminding me about the grapefruitseed extract! I'll try and get some tomorrow. Do you think they would have it at Whole Foods or do I need to specifically go to the health food store?

Thank you for the well wishes! I'm planning on being all better tomorrow! I truely think eating this way and the juicing is making a difference!

Oh Jo I sure hope you are not getting sick...H1N1 or something!
I am so sorry..I have got a lot of reading to catch up on. It has just been crazy here the last few days! It has been raining every day HARD. Except Wed. Now I think the road, a major hiway , between our job and us might be closed so I am waiting to hear on that! I think we will at least leave a little later today so it will be brighter outside.
To answer you q Kim, It is not as crazy a schedule on this job but we like to keep a good pace that way we might can get ahead of schedule. I like to be ahead instead of behind that way if something happens like for example today, and we might miss we have a good cushion. So we will still work pretty good hours during the week but for now will be taking off for the weekends...
Cendrine, I do not know what month the rotation I am on is from. I just searched rotations in that thread and then had to look for one that I had a lot of the dvds for. I need to stock up on more. The other day DH saw a UPS and asked if I had some coming...I said no but took it that he wouldn't think nothing of it if I did even though I just got a new bundle a month ago.

I am the same way about getting sick. I rarely do and if I do it is normally a spring cold and it goes away fast. So I know if I did get the flu I probably would not know what to do. I would probably think I was going to die!

Kim I hope you are having a great couple of days OFF!

Ok sorry personals were all over the place but I had to write it as I remembered it! And I have the worst memory!

OK I am off to see if I need a boat to get to work! I hope all is well with everyone. Sending you healing VIBES JO~~~~~~~~~>

Rachel

Hi Everyone!

Well, I still got this thing going on only today I've been raspy all day (kind of like Rod Stewart) :p). I did find out from our HR lady today that she had this throat thing a couple of weeks ago (only she also had a cough) and she knows a few other people who have had it also but worse symptoms than me (juicing and clean eating I tell you!). So it's just some sort of weird virus. She said her throat was uncomfortable for about 7 days, but I doubt that will be my case...I never even have colds that long. Anyway, I won't dwell on this as it's really nothing...it's just that it's taken enough of my energy that I'm not working out! Oh, and because I'm not sleeping very well.

I can't believe it's the end of October! We'll be talking about Xmas shopping any minute now...except Kim, who is way ahead of us on that! :D

Rachel, you stay dry now! You sound awfully busy so post when you have time!

Kim and Cendrine, I hope you're both having a good day! :D

Christmas shopping....I should start tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!
I am always a late bloomer and then I can never find what I am looking for. You know, when you are looking for that one certain thing and you see it every where when you are not looking for it but then when you are it is no where to be found,,,Oh the frustration!

Finally, the rain has stopped. I think we are supposed to be dry for the next week which we need after this week! So we are looking at a nice weekend here!
No plans but I think we might have some roof repairs to do so we will see what happens tomorrow!

OK for the new job...So far it seems like a really nice one. It is being run by a very small construction company. Sometimes that can be bad...but this time I think we really lucked out. It is kind of strange though. It is an addition to a school and the whole thing is vinyl, well more like linoleum. It is a lot too. I do not understand why they are using this stuff in a school but that is not my job. Mine is to just shut up and lay it!:p

Today's workout was KPC but I did not get to the C but I did STS stability ball abs yesterday so I felt pretty weak in that area any way, if you know what I mean! Tomorrow is Muscle Max. I am looking forward to the total body work out to finish out this week!

I was going to ask, Does any one have Maximum Intensity Cardio and Max Int. Strength? That is in this rotation but I do not have those. Do you think they are a good purchase? <---I know can you go wrong with any Cathe! But I was just wondering if anything was comparable. Oh how I know I will own every Cathe dvd Someday!

OK I think DH and I are going to curl up and watch a movie. Have a great night!

Rachel

Rachel, OF COURSE I have those workouts! (Kim does too!) Of course you should buy them! With that said, you can substitute the SB/SJP premix that is all cardio and hi/lo (I have to look later and I'll tell exactly which one). For MIS you can substitue Muscle Max. MIC has both hi/lo and step (and I mean intense hi/lo!). I'll be back later to tell you more!!!

Got new shoes today!:D That was enough to get me motivated to workout again today. (doesn't take much as I usually love my workouts) Did the third Insanity workout. I was so fatiguesdlast week after the first 2 workouts I'll be interested to see how I feel by the end of the weekend as I don't know how much was DOMS and how much was side effects of the immunizations.
Think I'll go ahead with Insanity unless Cathe's November rotation is too enticing.

Rachael I have MIS and MIC (well I have all Cathe's workouts). I'm trying to think of a replacement for MIC. I think the MIC is Cathe's toughest cardio workout:confused::confused: It's about 70 mins, half floor aerobics (think jump jacks, pylo jacks, etc) and then step aerobics with an extremely hard blast at the very end when you're exhausted. It's a steady state cardio except for the one short blast.

MIS could be replaced with Power Hour, Muscle Max or Muscle Endurance maybe. Oh, I just saw that Jo posted some suggestions as well.

Hope you have a beautiful weekend and get a chance to dry out. I guess you don't get trick or treaters being out in the country like you are.

Cendrien I'm getting so excited about our Disney trip so I'm trying not to think about it too much. You'll need to try out Disneyworld one day, its enormous compared to Disneyland. It's approximately the size of city of Boston (so my guide book tells me)
Don't you love Rhythmic Step, so much the time seems to fly. Hopefully the new STS cardio (I can't remember the name) will be the same.

Jo So sorry that you're still not feeling up to par. It sounds like you're taking good care of yourself so hopefully will be gone by the weekend. Didn't you love Abby's little girl's red hair! I picked up one more Christmas gift today, a remote control tarantula for my 11 year old nephew:rolleyes::rolleyes: I really only have DH to buy for and a few more little things for the kids.
You have a great memory, you always seem to remember things that people post!

So what is everyone doing for Halloween??
The kids are trick or treating. DS is going out with his friends then they are coming back to watch a movie at our house. They wanted some scary. I'm going to take dd to trick or treat with her cousins. They live 5 mins of away (since her brother doesn't want her tagging along:rolleyes:), they are ages 3 and 6, dd loves to play "big" cousin with them. I guess that leaves DH at home to hand out the candy.

DH and dd never got the H1N1 shot this week at the line ups got crazy, they tried today and got turned away. DS and I went the first day they were opened and it wasn't bad then there was 2 pediatric (tragic cases) that made the news Tuesday and people started to panic and line up.

We watched "Wizard of Oz" tonight, it was just rereleased for it 70 ! anniversary. The kids were under impressed. Boy, movies have changed. LOL

Kim

I was going to ask all you readers, if anyone reads Janet Evanovitch's "Stephanie Plum " series?? I was on hold forever at the library for number 15 and picked it up yesterday. I'm really looking forward to reading it this weekend.
