Cathlete
we're back from camping. Actually came back last night instead of this morning as it was raining so instead of huddling inside the trailer for the evening we just left early. It was a cooler weekend which worked out well. Last weekend we camped and it was super hot and we spent all day on the beach/in the water.
This weekend it was cooler so we rented kayaks one day (loved it!!!), did some long hikes, went exploring etc so a different type of weekend. We got lots of exercise and fresh air.

I'm still on vacation this week but DH works. I have to stay home Tuesday as my new washer comes and the kids want to do their activities/work on Wed. but then we might head out to my mom's cottage for an extra long weekend.
Today is Drill Max premix, and maybe we'll go to see the Harry Potter movie.

Cendrine Sounds like you've found some fun ways to get in some exercise!!

Patricia Ontario was beautiful! It's amazing to watch the scenery change over the 3 hours from prairie to Canadian Shield. And there was no mosquitos!!!!
What is with the no ac in the office??? C&W is a fun workout, are you following any type of plan or just going day by day.You often seem frustrated with DH's lack of activity, does he do a lot of physical activity at work?

Rachael Do you scheduled work this week? Are you surviving the heat?

Jo Have fun on your well deserved holiday!

Sorry I have been MIA...Its just been one of those weeks. I am just getting us on the front page. I will be back later to catch up.

Have a great Monday!

Your camping weekend sounds like it was really nice, Kim! I hope your washer comes without any delay! That is something you just need!
I spent yesterday getting school organized and set up. Dh wants to know if we need any additional computer or such, now that dd will be using the computer for some things a s well. He is always looking for an excuse to get techie... ;) He said he needs to know before august is over so he can take advantage of some back to school sales. So to humor him we are going to do a week of school after we get back from Seattle, then go to girlscout day camp for a week, then probably pick up where we left off... ;) I just have two more books to preread and a dvd seminar on teaching writing and one on spelling to do, then I'm all set! The writing seminar is something they apparently teach to teachers in Canada every summer... ;)

Rachel, how's your back doing?

Hi Jo, I'm sure you had a great time with your family! Have a fun and relaxing week this week!

Patricia, making Jamba Juice a destination for a strollerwalk sounds right up my alley... ;)

Afternoon All

Had an extra long commute into work this a.m. - sat on the train for 45min due to signal problems:( Just hoping there are not any issues next week as DH is going on vacation so I'll need to get home intime to p/u DS from daycare! Didn't w/o yesterday as working on 5 hrs sleep. We had a great time at the CD release party - late to bed and up early! DS and I cycled to the park though so that counts for something!:D

Kim - glad to hear you had a good time camping - we got that rain overnight here - we really needed it. I love our ROCK! The colours are so pretty. No, DH is extremely inactive and other than walking the site in heavy construction boots he doesn't get much activity at work! I'm trying to decide if I should start showing DS the Harry Potter movies - he watches Start Wars and Transformers but action is a bit different from the creepy evil I think of with HP. Oh, we got a/c back on Friday (atleast on my floor) The poor guys on our 2nd floor are still with out for a few more days but its not nearly as hot as last week! We work in a really really old building and everything is falling apart! 1.5 years to go then we're out of here!

Cendrine - I'm working with DS all summer long on a reading/writing activity book. He has fun doing them and I don't want him to get lazy over the summer - I think he is a bit behind on his reading now and GR1 is such a pivotal year for learning. So, how is your penmanship (sp?) Do you "write" like a teacher:p

Waving hi to everyone else.

Good Monday yall!
I know I have been gone a bit but I really don't have much of a reason for it...other than spending a whole day on the computer looking for a cabin for this up coming weekend. I think I just got burned out on the computer and did not want to even look at it.
I also think I found the last decent available cabin for rent at Beavers Bend National Park:rolleyes:. So we are taking some friends with us this next weekend and are going to stay until Sunday. I think it will do us some good to spend some nights away from the house. That normally always recharges the batteries.

I finally got to go to a yoga class with my bf today. We actually did 2. The first one was a level 1 class and the next one was a lot more advanced. We practiced trying to get into head stands and an arm balance. I was horrible at the head stands but did alright at the arm balance. I was surprised that I came away from those 2 classes with alot more understanding of some things than I went in with. I am probably going to go tomorrow too. They have a deal right now that is 10 days for 10 dollars so I might as well get my moneys worth , right;)

Kim-I hope your washer is already in use. I agree with Cendrine... that is just something that is hard to live without...esp. when there are kids in the house. I am glad you are having cooler weather. We did get rain last night. A real significant amount compared to what we have been having so that was really nice.

Patricia-Remember how I said I like the Hunger Games...well I am on the second book and I LOVE it. I am officially sucked in. So I don't know what kind of books you like but you might try a sample and see how you feel about it.

Cendrine-Wow schools almost in again! I am ready to hear about all your creative ideas on getting the kids to learn this year. I would say you missed your calling but I bet it is way funner to teach 2 than 22. LOL;)
Back is feeling pretty good. I am still going light on the cardio. Today I did the premix from cardio and weights before I went to the yoga but I feel like I burned up some calories in that second yoga class:cool:

Jo-I hope you are going to enjoy your week before you go to work at your new job. This is exciting! LOL

Off to make dinner and watch some True Blood:eek: TTYL

Just finished GS Back, Shoulders and Biceps. I think I'll feel it tomorrow!

Our washer is supposed to be delivered tomorrow! We are wearing some strange outfits at this point:eek::eek: Hopefully they are more punctual than the builders, who were suppose to do the stucco on the exterior of our house last Friday, haven't seen them yet:(

Cendrine School already!! Doing a week of school and then a vacation sounds like a good way to start!

Rachael Don't stress about being MIA we all have times like that. How fun to get out of the house for a workout! Yoga is something that would be good to have an experienced instructor instead of a dvd to check on your form. That's great that you're getting a weekend away!

Patricia I got my Jets t-shirt today! The t-shirts and hats went on sale this weekend and one person I know waited 5 hours in line to buy a hat:rolleyes:
Hope your commute home was short and sweet! Sounds like a fun party.

I starting reading the HP books to ds when he was in Kindergarten. I read all 7 of them out loud to him (the 5th one twice), even when he was old enough to read them himself as he wanted me to continue the tradition. Then did the whole thing again with dd. I never ever thought I would like the series but got hooked reading them to ds. Your ds is a great age to start. The books are to "grow" with the kids. The first one is fairly non-violent, and easy to understand. They get more violent/complicated as HP grows up.

Evening All

After dinner took DS to the splash pad and got to read my book while he played. He was having a grand ole time! Just finished MM minus core work.

Kim - yep, I'm just doing whatever I feel like doing these days. I've been missing the weights so back into that. I think I'll try concentrating on alternating TB with cardio depending on whatever my previous w/o was. Through in some circuits if I've missed days. Yeah, I think appliance deliveries are more reliable! I saw the logo on t.v. the other day and meant to mention it. Do you like the new logo or were you hoping they'd use the same as b/4? Not sure if they changed colours though. Yep, a normal commute home thankfully! I've never thought of actually reading him a chapter book. Maybe I'll try the 1st volume.

Rachel - I have tried to like yoga and just can't get into it. I even went to an Eion Fion (sp?) weekend workshop a few years ago which I enjoyed. He had me trying a handstand and I almost did it. The form pointers I got I still use today in some of my stretching. I did actually download The Hunger Games last week but my DH hasn't given up the Kindle for me to use! I'm reading the old fashion way these days. Good thing he is going on vacation with out me next week and I'll get it back!

Good Tuesday!
I got up this morning very tired and so my home workout was lack luster to say the least. I put in MM, which I love, and did to biceps, skipping shoulders since I was going to another yoga class today and did not know what we would be doing. I did not want worn out shoulders trying to do a bunch of down dog moves.;):p

Todays class was a different teacher. She was a lot more hands on which I think helped me a lot. I am not sure what this one was called but it was a flow from a chart. Ashtanga maybe...? I don't know. Anyhow this teacher was a lot more approachable...I don't know how to explain it. She would call out all the poses in the traditional "Yoga names" but she was not guru-ee about it....does that make sense. LOL
Anyhow...I liked it alot better than yesterdays really.

Patricia-I don't know if I will ever really get the full benefits of yoga because I really can not focus like you are supposed to. LOL When I am supposed to be breathing in, I am breathing out...Hell when I am supposed to be breathing, I am holding my breath. :p But I am trying to get the benefits of the stretch that I get from it. Hopefully something will click with me and I will get it.

Kim-Yes I think I have learned an immense amount just in the 2 days I have went to the yoga classes. Just things you do not get from a dvd.
So I hope the washer is there. I hate to wait. That is why dh and I normally muscle anything like that in ourselves...if it is in stock.

Hi Cendrine and Jo!

Have a great Tuesday!

Rachel

Rachel, you made me laugh with your yoga talk and the breathing issues... LOL I find myself doing similar things when doing Pilates, somehow I always breathe at a different cadence than the instructor... oh well...

I am trying to find some good pilates workouts with bands for added intensity and so I am getting all these different workouts from Netflix to try out. This morning was such a one and I just have not liked any of them so far... Oh well. By the way, I have ordered a T-Tapp workout, I decided I won't ever know unless I try it because the reviews are not conclusive... ;) So I'm hoping that one will come in before we leave on Friday so I can bring it with me, as this would be a good one to take on travels since it requires no equipment. I'll let you all know what I think about it...

Kim, I hope the washer came in and you are getting through your pile of laundry...

Patricia, it's funny that your dh hijacked your kindle...! LOL! When I first got my droid and dh still had an older phone, he kept playing with my phone... The splash pad sounds great, we have one at a park and I keep forgetting about it. Need to take the kids there.

Jo, I hope you are getting some wonderful down time!

Good morning, I'm up early on my holidays as there is a work crew here, putting stucco on the exterior of the house:D:D Although I'm glad they are here, I feel a little like we're prisoners in the house. It's very loud and noisy. Oh well, that way I could get going on the mountain of laundry. The washer came about 3 pm yesterday and I started then but I still have about 4 loads to go.

Yesterday I did GSL premix #1 and I don't know if I'll work out today with so many workmen here. My sister and I are leaving after supper to go up to mom's cottage with the kids. She has taken the summer off and I"m on holidays so we might as well get a early start to the holiday weekend. DH and BIL will join us Friday night. Does anyone else get Monday off as a holiday??

I was on the computer a lot of the day yesterday. DS and I took our boating exam so that we can legally drive the boat now. It's an online course and exam and took about 3 hours but we alternated doing each chapter throughout the day. He's quite proud of being able to drive at age 14 (there has to be a certified driver over the age of 16 in the boat).

Patricia I'm okay with the new hockey logo. The general concensus seems to be "it's okay", it could be better but it could be worse. I'm wearing my new t-shirt with the new logo as I type:p

Rachael Sounds like you are getting some good benefit to the yoga classes!

cendrine Enjoy your trip!

Has everyone seen the clips of the new workouts? I think they look good. Seems like there is some new stuff for cathe, I wasn't that keen on her STS cardio so hopefully I'll like these better.

I hoping that Cathe posts a August rotation and I'll start that on MOnday. I should be home Monday and back to work Tuesday:(

I'm serving three masters. I came home thinking I could work on the closet and hit the Nordstrom Anniversary sale at the mall...here's how it's going for me:

1. Monday - trying to study for midterms (yeah to get those out of the way before next Monday). But still have two papers to write.
2. Old job - had to go in and work yesterday. Still answering tons of email.
3. New job - two of the main people reporting to me are on vacation next week so am going in today to meet with them (in about 2 hours) and am getting tons of email as my new boss will be overseas next week so he's sending me all kinds of stuff and calling me!

Still have to take midterms, write papers and I guess that pesky closet will have to wait! If I can get the midterms out of the way my stress level will come down.

Hello to everyone!

It's Hump Day:):)

2 more days until the Long Weekend! Still trying to figure out what to do as DH will be out of town so just DS and me.

Last night was so nice out I went for a good long walk. It was a bit breezy even, but not complaining:D

DS has a late soccer game tonight so not sure if I'll get a w/o in or not.

Kim - glad to hear you're catching up on your laundry - just in time to go away! Is all the stucco now done? I'm presuming you don't have grass yet??? 8:27 is NOT early - try 6am everyday with a little guy who rarely sleeps in and doesn't know a weekend day from a weekday:eek:

Cendrine - looking forward to your reviews on T-tapp - one of these days I'll pop in my disc - I keep forgetting about it. That's the problem when the discs don't come in an actual case, instead just in a sleeve. I have some Gliding discs that I keep forgetting about as they're just in a clear plastic case - I've been meaning to pull them out to get prepared for Cathe's latest:D

Rachel - I'm really loving MM right now and trying to commit to doing it at least 1 - 2x a week. Hard w/o but doesn't take it all out of ya. I do skip the abs as I don't like a million frantic crunches.

Jo - like sounds sooo crazy for you. Hope it settles down soon. By the time you get around to cleaning out your closest it'll be time to get it organized for fall/winter wear!

Happy Wednesday to yall!

I think I might have been in this house too long. I just can't get anything done. I think the more time I have the more I put stuff off. Are yall like that? I will get started cleaning, but then get side tracked really easily... It does not take much to side track me from cleaning right now. I think I am alot better when I am working full time.

I got up this morning and did about 35 mins. of the cardio time saver from BM2 then I did shoulders tris and abs from BM2 also since I did not do those yesterday from MM. I really think the heat or something is effecting my cardio...I just can not get it done here lately. I am sure it will get better though.

Jo-So much for a nice breezy week huh? I hope you are able to get a little down time before you have to get into the new job full time. You really need at least one stress free day.

Kim-The only thing about having that much laundry to do is doing it in a new machine. LOL At least it is kind of like getting to play with a new toy until the new wears off.

Cendrine-That is my luck with yoga or pilates dvd's. I like to be shown or taught a certain way and there just are so many cheesy (for lack of a better word) instructors...I think the same is the case for me with cardio and weights too. That is why I stick with Cathe so hard I think.

Patricia-You can send that cool breezy weather our way if you want;) We are supposed to have above average temps until October! YUCK!

Oh and nope...No holiday for us. So yall enjoy your long weekend.
It is not like we are working around here but its not the same as being off for a scheduled holiday though:p

Have a great Wednesday!
Rachel

Oh, Jo I thought you were supposed to have some down time!! One day at a time for you.

Paticia, the workers were here at 6:45, I knew they were coming so I got up and dressed just after 6am which isn't early for a work day but it's vacation! Your ds will grow out of it eventually and then you'll be waking him at noon.
This is the first day of stuccoing, I think it's usually a 2-3 day process but I'll be gone this afternoon. Our yard still looks like a ugly construction zone. After the stucco, there is some exterior painting to be done, drainpipes, they they will come in and do a final grading of the land. THEN we can landscape. I'm not sure at this rate if we will be able to landscape this summer. I really wanted to get it done so I don't have to deal with mud again next spring! The building industry is still crazy busy here and they just seem to do things at their own snail's pace.
You don't seem to be using your cottage much this summer?

Rachael I know exactly what you mean. When I have too much time, I don't seem to get anything done. I remember in university, I worked 15-20 hours/week besides going to university full time as DH and I were married already. It was the kids living at home with their parents, not working that never seem to have time to finish assignments. I remember being frustrated with some of then. I think working/going to school really taught me great time management skills and I can work, do kid's activities, keep the house, workout, etc but when I have 2 weeks with nothing to do, nothing happens. I almost need the structure in my life.

Last load of laundry in the dryer! I think I did 6 loads last night and 4 today. Of course by the time I get home on Monday I'll start over again. I haven't done the beds in a while as I put them off to do on my holidays.
LOVE the new washing machine!!!

Just wasting time till I drop dd at my mom's. My mom is going to take dd and neice up to the cottage. Then my sister,ds, nephew and I will go after supper. This afternoon I going to go down to the passport office as I have to renew our passports before our USA trips in AUgust/January.

I did more traveling from Siberia to Japan and then back to some name I've never heard before... LOL! That was my workout...

Kim, Rachel, I'm another one that wonders how I ever get everything done when school is back in session when now it takes me all day to just do the basics... I guess we all need a little pressure to maximise our time... But part of being a slow poke right now is what resting and recharging is all about for me I suppose.

Kim, I'm so glad you got all your laundry done! I gotta do some before we leave, but nothing big.

Rachel, if you didn't do any cardio during your heat season, I wouldn't hold it against you at all! Our summer is pretty mild again compared to the past but not quite as mild as last year, so the kids are getting their fill of pool and beach time. Today we went to Balboa island with friends and the kids enjoyed themselves, had lunch on the pier (there is a rubies at the end of it) and saw some people catch fish before they hit the arcade games.

Jo, you are being stretched in all directions! I feel for you! I hope tomorrow is better for you!

Patricia, my kids are like yours they pop up at 6am weekday or weekend, no matter how late they went to bed the night before... Glad to hear there's a light at the end of the tunnel, Kim...LOL

Good Friday Morning!!!

Sorry no check in yesterday. I got busy getting things ready to go. Then I got stuck on the computer trying to find a canoe and kayak outfitter that was not all booked up! I had no idea there was going to be a festival going on this weekend so it took a lot of digging but I did it. I think dh had totally given up and was actually thinking about going and buying some kayaks and borrowing my brothers for our friends. He just did not have any faith in me. LOL:rolleyes: He does not realize what lengths I will go to to save a dollar! Haha

I went to another yoga class yesterday. It was really a fun one. It was packed full of poses just flowing together. She even cued the breathing the whole time and that helped alot, (cendrine;)) Before I went I did Hiit 30/30. So far all my cardios this week have been short but at least I am able to get back on the step again.

Cendrine-Have fun in Seattle and enjoy the weather for me...And if you and Jo get together, have a big hug for all 4 of us!!!

Kim-I hope they are about done with the stuccoing. I am sure I would be itching to get some landscaping done as well.
I am going to take a look at the Aug rotation too. Not sure how my work schedule will be yet but I might also sign up for a month at the yoga place to see how I like it. Of course this will only work if I am not working because otherwise I don't think I would go enough to justify the 65$ a month. I could just go pay a drop in fee and do better probably.

Kim and Patricia- Hope you are both getting some down time.

Off for the weekend everyone so have a great one!

Rachel

Good Friday Morning of a LONG weekend for us Canadians:p:p

Last night was baseball (we won:D) then of course beer and wings afterwards!

Wed. night I did one of my Gliding Disc w/os by Mindy - there is a tough core/push up section that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to do!

Rachel - Hiit and Yoga all in one day! Way to go! Have fun kayaking this weekend. I haven't been out at all this summer. Hopefully on my vacation in another week!

Cendrine - I agree with you on the pressure to get things done. When I don't have anything pressing I get REALLY lazy and put off everything.

Kim - I guess you'll be at the cottage by now.

Jo - waving hi!

Has anyone tried Tracy Anderson's dvd's. When I read some of the results threads I get the itch to try but I'm not sure if I would click with here "teany tiny" perception of what women should be.

I'm going to try to start drinking green smoothies every day. Finally cracked open the box of my Vitamix blender Thursday night and made a spinach/fruit smoothie. Loved it! Even DS drank some of it!

Yay Patricia! I love that you liked your first green smoothie! And ds too! Hopefully you can get dh on it too even if you have to take baby steps...

Rachel, kayaking sounds fun, enjoy!

Kim, I know you are already gone, but happy weekend to you!

We are leaving today for Seattle, the kids are very excited ... Jo, it'll be fun to hang with you!
