50 and over week of Sept 27 check in

Good morning all,

I did yoga abs Saturday. Didn't feel like doing anything. I was so congested that when I was ready to sleep I couldn't. I ended up getting 4hrs of sleep in a chair.

Last Sunday I finally got my haircut- the last time was in April. With babysitting I don't have a chance to go to my regular hairdresser. I dyed my hair Friday afternoon and it turned orange:mad:. I think the color was old. Today I tried again and put a brown on top of it. Not good but at least I don't look like a clown anymore.

We are going to the Ram's first home game tomorrow.

hi ya'll, i am definitely enjoying my time off. but, i have not done a workout since a week ago friday and i am still really tired! WHAT IS THE DEAL???? well, i did yoga on thursday, but that was nothing. so, now what do i do? i looked at cathe's post-STS rotation, and it has too much STS in it. dont 'want to do it. i want a more cardio based , ithink. and i have barely been here this week , so i am way behind on all the posts. what do ya'll suggest. and, i don't think i cna do a complete month of cathe. gonna put in some firm, for sure. so, i may check out the firm's october rotation.

even though i took off from excercise, this week was really busy w/ the grandkids and we had our county fair/rodeo. and was busy w/part of that. glad i was off, cuz i don't know when i woulda worked out anyway. so, even though i'm still tired, i think i'm ready to get started again tomorrow.
 
Hi over-50'ers - may I join your group :)? I restarted STS last week after quitting early in the program this past June, now I'm determined to stick with it to the bitter end. I alternate with Cardio Coach for cardio workouts, and do some others from time to time, just to keep it interesting.Today was my rest day so nothing to report other than some light outdoors activity this morning.

Rest day - :)

I figured out today how to get all the 1RM's to show on my workout card. ((still think it should be fixed by SNM by now :mad:))

The work around is to go into your calendar (if you have loaded it with the STS rotation) and select the workout then select edit workout. Verify which exercise numbers do not have your 1RM's done -- then got to 1RM find that exercise number (not the name) select it and calculate 1RM.

The STS 1RM list is not a complete list.
 
Welcome Lori, we can always use more in the group. It seems some weeks we have more active members than other weeks. It's nice to have someone working out and keeping us all accountable.

Jann I have been updating wo card through calendar but I still can't print it. I have been copying last time and filling in with the new numbers.

I started STS for the second time with Jann and Magnolia(1st time) on Sept 14th. Since getting sick last Monday I am a little behind. I hope to do disc 5 tonight.

Ram's game was better than last year. Of course we still lost but at least there were a couple of moments when I thought we could win.

I will be doing disc 7 today.

Joan I have been coping my workout cards into a word doc so that I can change the font size to make it easier to see my weight selections :eek:. I have not tried to print the PDF directly. I hope you are feeling better! Sorry about those Ram's :(

Disc 7 done, mostly. Those push ups today were killer and I just couldn't do all of them even on my knees. :eek: The rest of the workout went well. :D I remember last time I couldn't do those side raises on the ball by the time they came around because my shoulders hurt so much - no problem today :cool:
I am really seeing definition in my shoulders too. :) Now if this belly fat would just disappear. :p
 
WOO HOO! nothin' like a good ole' FIRM to get your heart pumpin' & sweat pourin'. i did the old CALORIE KILLER 2 w/dale brabham. super tough. haven't done alot of box work while doing STS, cuz i was so exhausted. but, it felt good to do box and 4-limb again.

i was tired when i started, but got revved up and did some of the sections twice. i feel better now! gonna tack on a some lower body work right now.

Welcome, Lori, it's always good to meet new people. Glad you decided to join us.

Just finished Disc 7. :eek: I couldn't do all the push ups (I do hate them, but we probably hate them because they work.) I managed all but three, but I had to do all of them on my knees. Those side raises were kind of a challenge, but I had to estimate my weight selection and I tend to try going heavier (since CLX). I used to not like band work very much, but I am really starting to appreciate it and like it. I'll be glad when Travel Fit becomes available.

Cathy, I agree with you about Calorie Killer 2. I always liked Super Cardio Mix--the DVD is great because it's programmable, and you can select which routines you want to use. Anna Benson is re-releasing some of the classic Firms (always favorites of mine) on DVD now.

Well, I have to prepare for a special rehearsal tonight. We're doing some difficult music this year for Christmas (The Bach Magnificat), and I have that to look over plus some studying to do.

Hi Everyone!

I'm back from my pilates testout!! I just couldn't keep up with you all in those last days leading up to the big test. I will know in 5-6 weeks whether I
made it.

I was hoping to keep up with you all this time but I lost a week. Should I jump in now and make it a three week rotation instead of 4? All that talk of push-ups is scaring me again.:( But nothing works the bra fat overload like the pushups!!

Any news of the STS cardio??
 
Hi everyone - I did CC Volume 3 this morning early, then started feeling really sick, so have spent most of the day sleeping. Hoping to feel better tomorrow. Now back to bed.

Yeah, I heard pushups are the best single exercise you can do -- not sure I believe that. :confused:

Well, it's a cardio day. I don't know what I'll be doing yet. I must burn at least 300 calories during my workout today. :)

did the old FIRM vol. 6 today w/ janye poteet. that is a tough workout. i'm either gettin' really old or i forgot how hard those are. the leg presses did me in , i had to stop and get air.

Hi Girls! Welcom Lori! Well, sorry I have been AWOL.....I have had a tough couple of days. I did workout Sat, Disc 3, Kick Punch & Crunch on Sun. But none since. My "little Precious" wrecked his car on Saturday. He is fine and no other car was involved......he missed a turn and decided to try an make it anyway (poor judgement)at 40 miles an hour and jumped a curb only to be stopped by mud (thank goodness for flooding)to keep from going down a ravine and into a creek. Anyway, we decided not to go the insurance route and just pay for the repairs......to the tune of $5800!!!!!!!!! They would just total the car anyway and the Blue Book value is about 7800 so..... where are we going to find a car with low mileage (this one had only 34,000 on a 2004)without an additional car payment. So we are biting the bullet so to speak!!!

I think I will be soooooo GLAD when he is 21. On a brighter note, he received his early admission from Kennesaw University and he is in!!! Well, Daddy is still not happy. Oh well, neither am I, but I will just continue to "drink heavily". As a good friend of mine says, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade and put vodka in it".

I did a lot of housework today. I just had to catch up on some stuff around here, and I nearly wore myself out. Should have done some cardio, but I think there's a lot to be said for cleaning out a wall unit. Wonder how many calories that was, anyway? Anyhow, tomorrow is Disc 8.

Cathy, those tall box step ups get me every time, too. I do love the older Firms.

Omgosh Deb! I am so glad he is alright. Kids -- I am not sure if it really gets any better after they are 21 ;):)

Disc 8 done. My triceps are killing me. Those last drop sets nearly broke me. :)

Deb, it does not get any easier at all when they turn 21. Sorry.

I just finished Disc 8. Jann, those drop sets are killers! :eek: Anyway, I think my shoulders are getting stronger. My range of motion in the bad shoulder is not better, but my posture has definitely improved and there is less pain. :D

I am going to have to go back to morning workouts, though. I really need the cardio workouts, and it's too easy to skip them if I don't just do them first thing. :confused:

Anyway, hi there Joan, Beth, Tricia, Cathy and Lori. Hope everyone is well.

Thanks girls! I know it doesn't get easier, I have one 39 and one 33, as well, I guess I was just hoping or delusional! Maybe I need to put a little more vodka in that lemonade., LOL!!!!!

No workout yet today, maybe later.

BTW, Magnolia did you get my private message? I donated a whole pile of stuff to Clarkdale. Did you get information you needed?

Good afternoon all,

We just got home from hospital. Mother's operation went ok with no problems. It amazes me that a partial mastectomy is done as an out patient. We won't know lab results until Friday to see if they got enough clean tissue around. The cancer has to have 2cm of non cancer removed around it. That is less than 1 inch. I asked why don't you just take a little more.

Probably no exercise today. I think I will go to bed.

Deb You were probably right about the car. My niece totaled her car last year and the insurance paid off loan but she didn't have a car. You certainly couldn't buy as good a car as she had with the balance she owed on loan. And the accident wasn't even her fault.

I must admit that since my boys hit 30 I worry about them less.
