50 and over week of Oct 3 check in

I can't believe it is October.

I thought I checked in yesterday but didn't. We painted yesterday and today we go to the football game.

I weighed 165.2lb yesterday and 166lb today. I hate the scale. It doesn't want me to get below 165. I was 165.4 the first of Sept.

Hi, Y'All.

Well, I can't believe it's October, either, but it surely feels like fall here.

My back seems a whole lot better than it was last week. The stretching helps make a difference, I think. Anyway, we'll see tomorrow.

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Hi, Y'All!

I started "easing" into regular workouts today. I did Kelly Coffey-Meyer's Thirty Minutes to Fitness Bootcamp, workout 1. It was the first time I've done this one, but I liked it. It is only 30 minutes, but it is still pretty tough. I modified and followed up with my back pain relief stretches. Now I'm icing.

Am just about to watch the clips from Cathe's new workouts.

Hope each of you has a wonderful evening.

HI all!

I did a premix from Low Max, stepping only. Getting ready for WB... These will make GREAT workouts to extend into my own low impact - high intensity workout.

Magnolia glad to see you are easing. Take care my friend! :)

Hi, Y'All!

I just watched all the clips from the new workouts, and I am totally jazzed! They all look like fun, but I really liked the low impact HiiT. Can't wait!

I bought the new wo I just hope I do them.

Back is killing me but not from wo. I had to carry Luke around most of the day. He only had 2 45 min naps instead of the 2 and 3 hours we sometimes get. He likes me to stand when I hold him. Can we say spoiled.

He is sleeping now but today I will need to wake him up to pick up Elliot at preschool.

Good Morning, Y'All!

Still "easing" back into working out. Today I did a short cardio premix from Tracie Long's Step Forward, followed by the stability ball abs workout on the Basic Step dvd, and finished with Basic Stretching on the Total Body Stretching dvd with Cathe. I think if I can concentrate on core training and good stretching, I should be able to strengthen my back pretty well. I do like Cathe's core work and stretching workouts, but plan to alternate Cathe's stretching with Miranda Esmonde-White's Back Pain Relief stretching.

I'm really excited about the new workouts! They're gonna be tough, but maybe I'll have gotten back my strength by the time they come.

Have a great day, everyone!

Magnolia YOU have come such a long way!! HIGH FIVES Lady!! :D:D:D

Joan, You really have your hands full - literally!! ;)

Have not done a workout yet... I hate it when my day just gets a way from me. Made soup this morning so lunch is taken care of. :)

Thanks, Jann. I appreciate the encouragement.

Joan, I think we must have posted at the same time. Please be careful with your back!

Hi, Y'All!

I did one segment of Calorie Explosion this morning, followed by more back stretching. Got lots of work to get done this afternoon.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning, Y'all.

I don't think I'll be able to manage a workout today. My back pain has returned. Not going to chiropractor right away. Both of DH's eyes have swelled up, almost shut! Must be some sort of allergic reaction, but I have to get him in to see a doctor.

Have a great one, everyone.

Magnolia

Hi!! I did 3 miles on the treadmill this morning.

Magnolia -- I am sorry about your back {{{Magnolia}}}. Is your DH taking meds? :(

Hello!!

Gosh Magnolia- I am so sorry that you keep having back problems! I know that must be frustrating! I hope your DH is alright!

Jann- way to go! Sounds like you are back in the groove!

Joan and Cathy sounds like they are in grandmother mode!

I have been skipping the home workouts and going to spinning and TRX and Zumba at a local gym. Last summer after my vacation- I just felt the need to get out- maybe it is becasue all kids are gone-- at first I did both home and gym WO but now, I am doing all of these classses and I am worn out! Knowing me, however, I will probably get back into the groove soon. the new tapes looks good and when that Workout blender is finally released- I will not be able to resist! We will have to share WO recipes!

I'll check back in later!

I couldn't make a week of babysitting without catching a cold. Right now I'm freezing and body and throat hurts. I've gone through 2 boxes of kleenix.

Poor Elliot was heartbroken today when I picked her up from school. She wanted her mother to take her home. I think it is hard because her mother drops her off at school and then leaves her. Elliot sees her on the playground and then she leaves her. Then she meets her after class to bring her to my car and then she leaves her. Next week I will have to take Luke into building with me to pick up Elliot. We're going to try to not have her see her mother after class. Maybe that will help. Dil wanted her to go to the same school she taught at so she could see her more often.

Luke had a fever and runny nose yesterday after getting shots the day before. I think I got the cold from Elliot.

No wo. Someday I will have time and energy to do one.

Joan

Beth I am on board sharing WB recipes!! :D

Cathy having fun with grandchildren is a very good reason not to be working out!

Joan Poor Elliot, just when you think you are doing a good thing... Hope that cold is short lived. :) How's the remolding going?

I feel like my workouts are coming back s-l-o-w-l-y ;) Now to kick the sugar and salt habits again!

Good morning, Y'All!

Joan, hope you will be feeling better soon. Poor Elliot. That's so sad.

Cathy, I think your grandchildren probably give you enough activity when you are with them. I love to work out, but I'll always choose my Tyler over it.

Beth, sounds like you are getting in your workouts.

Jann, just be patient and stick to your guns. I am having a great lesson in that right now.

DH is much better today. You can actually see his eyes now. He is taking prednisone, which is a pretty serious drug, but he's only taking it for a few days and it's working. DH is follically challenged and when the weather cools, he sleeps with a knit cap on at night. Somehow, something had gotten into that cap that he had a reaction to. Just glad he's getting over this. It was scary to see him like that--he looked as if he'd lost a prize-fight.

I am seriously considering giving light stretching workouts and maybe even pilates a try. Maybe if I go slowly, I can get my back into better shape without stressing it too much. This business with my back has been very frustrating.

Have a great day, everyone.
