It may take us a bit longer Deb but we have the stay power to get the job done!! Good luck on the Final!

ok, i hate it when i post something and nothing posts!
anyway, now i forgot what i said.
i did an old firm today; 40m cardio w/nancy

An unplanned rest day today. I woke up with all kinds of good intentions, but did not do a thing.
Hope everyone had a good day!

Hi all,

Jann, Deb and Cathy great workouts for all of you! :D

Lori, I do that off and on I am sure we all do. We need rests days too. :)

Cathy, I have a few older firm workouts. That is all I used to do was firm workouts. The older ones are more intense but I do like the transfimer workouts and BSS1 and BSS2 vut they are not as intense like the old ones but great for a lighter day.

I worked three hours late today. I am pooped. It is 8:30 I need something very light to eat and get to bed and back up early to start all over again.

Do all of you workout inside or outside of the home. I am just curious. As you know I am in banking. After 15 years I am staying with the same bank I have always worked at. My bosses really care about the workers, but they could pay us more. I did get a $400.00 a month raise afew weeks ago.

I hope to pop in in the am if not it will be afternoon.

Deb

Hey Lori I believe we all have days like that. AND it has nothing to do with our age - ;);)

Deb I am retired. I use to install hardware and teach computer software all over the USA and in Ireland and England. It took a while to adjust being home but now that I have I am enjoying it.

Joan well yesterday was my day to nonstop eating... and the scale shows it this morning... One stinking day...

More cardio for me today. My goal is to keep moving. It's raining outside so these days that's harder for me to do.

Hello!!

Jann- I think it's raining everywhere!! My goal is to get disc 5 down- missed it yesterday!!

DH and I are training to run a 15k. Yesterday, I could feel that my legs were not moving because of the weight training earlier in the week. The pilates helps to stretch, but I could really feel it! Felt like running through mud!!

I do love the organization fo the STS program though. Maybe it is just me but I like knowing exactly what I am working on and why. Sometimes now when I do the old programs, I feel like I missed something.

Cathy, I used to do the old firms too. When they changed I just couldn't get into them. I wonder how the original cast looks now...

Lori, I hope your day got better. :)

Cheers to all!!

Good morning, Ladies!

Debls, I love to walk outside, and had planned to do that all of this "active rest week," but I had a jet lag day Mon. Housework and grocery shopping got me Tues, then my DH was off yesterday, so my workout was getting Halloween decorations up and lots of other chores I needed help with. Today, it's chilly and rainy, and I have a lot of studying, etc., to catch up on. I'll have to see what happens.

Deb08, just hang in there. You and I are almost in the same boat, however, unfortunately for me, my final is nowhere in sight! Actually, we have no exams in this particular course, I have to write three papers in answer to questions posed by the professor (2 down!) and a book review. I am in the last third of the course, but I am anxious to finish at this point!

Hi, Joan, Jann, Beth, Tricia, Cathy & Cookie!

Everyone have a great day!

weight loss -what has worked for you?

I am back after getting on the scale. I was thinking that I was looking and feeling pretty good. I mean, I have muscle definition, my thighs are going, the roll on the stomach has shrunk- so I get on the scale and aghhhhhh...... I weigh a few pounds more!!!

Now, I quit weighing because it made me depressed. So I focused on the exercise and watching my food intake- which, I might add, has really decreased. I saw Valerie Bertineli last night in an interview and I was thinking how the weight just melted off of her- me on the other hand, I have done the Jenny Craig thing and exercised like a mad woman and NOTHING!!!

The clean eating thing makes me feel good and have energy- but WHY WON"T THE POUNDS DROP???

Has that body monitor thing worked? Does the Nutrition manager work? Anyone tried anything that worked? Joan, you mention 1500 calories, does that really work passed the first few weeks? HELP!!

YIKES! did CAWT (complete aerobic&wt training), really tough workout. today for the first time in a long time. never gets easier. but, becuz of STS, i went heavier than i ever have before. i was dreading it cuz i know how hard it is. LOL! then spent 3 hrs outside bathing my horses , trying to clean them up for a show on saturday. they were pretty gross after all the rain. so, gotta go feed them and take a nap, cuz i have a Bible study tonite. whew!!

Hi everyone - today I made up for my lazy Wednesday. Did second round of Disc 4, then CC Vol 4 on elliptical. Whew! Anyway, I feel I'm getting stronger in the bis, shoulders and chest, but still doing those pushups on my knees.
Deb - I do work outside the home but am temporarily inside the home. Lost my job at the end of August. They moved the entire HR function to the US. Asked me if I wanted to relocate, but no...I have children, grandchildren and a wonderful man up here.
Hey Jann, I have a problem with loving food way too much. I workout, but am softly padded all over; I blame menopause for that. Although, truth be told, it's my love of food.
Magnolia - on which book do you have to write the review? School can be pretty challenging for sure. My guy (it's so hard to say boyfriend at my age) is working towards his Master degree and is studying all the time. We only see each other on weekends, and even then he has books with him.
Iron - I agree, the numbers on the scale can be so discouraging. Muscle takes up less room than fat, so even if the numbers go up, you say you look and feel great and that's what matters.
Cathy - how lucky you are to have horses. I love horses, actually I love all animals, but living in the city puts a limit on what kind of critters one can keep. I have my kitties and they make me very happy.
Today is a beautiful day here in Calgary. The sun is shining, the snowfall we had is melting fast, the weather will be about 15 degrees Celsius over the next several days. I can see the Rockie Mountains from my window, they are snow-capped. Life is good.
Hope you all have a fabulous day. Take care.

Good morning, Y'All!

Well, it has started out as another yucky day here, so I decided that I would get up off my behind and do Basic Step and Stability Ball Abs. I needed something short and not too complicated today--lots of work to do.

Beth, I have always heard that muscle tissue is more dense than fat, so perhaps you're gaining muscle. If you look good and feel good, then that number on the scale may be misleading.

Lori, I am reading Understanding the Bible, A Basic Introduction to Biblical Interpretation by George Montague. It could be boring, but he has made it pretty interesting. Almost finished with it, then I need to see if there are other reviews out there and I can begin writing. Yes, it's a challenge. If your guy is taking more than one course at a time, then God bless him! This one is all I can manage for the time being!

Wow, Jann, Tracie, Jen and Susan all look great. I have one of the TLT workouts--Susan Harris' Finding Your Core. I also did nothing but the Firm workouts for years. I love the classic Firms and still pull one out when I need a change. Anna Benson has gotten permission from GAIAM to release many of the classic Firms on chaptered DVDs now, so I am trying to get a few of those as well.

Joan, I hope your mother is doing okay. I pray for both of you.

Wow, Cathy, that's like two workouts! The Firm one and then washing your horses. How many horses do you have?

Hi, there Tricia, Deb, Deb & Cookie.

All have a great day!

Magnolia

Hello Ladies! Forgive me if all names are not mentioned, I do my best, but today I am "brain dead". I made an 85 on my final. Not too shabby! I haven't gotten my grade on my project yet. I am sure I'll have it by Monday. Rest day today, cause I'm just not motivated.

Debls, I have been a stay at home Mom for the last 17 years, almost 18. I worked full time, sewed for people, and babysat for people as I was raising my first two children. This last one, born when I was 39 is the one that I have always been home with. I guess that's why this school thing is hard for me. What was I thinking? Anyway, I worked for about 20 years as an Executive Secretary, office manager, and customer service.

OK, I forgot who asked about weight loss, but here goes: for me, weight watchers worked for a while but as I got older(I am now 57)it is that last 5lbs. that will not budge for any length of time. Menopause, just getting older with a slower metabolism, I don't know. But, if I watch my carbs, and I don't mean NO carbs. Just eat the better ones, no white stuff, including potatoes (sweet OK),no white rice, few fruits, mostly apples, pears, plums. I seem to do better this way and will lose down to my 125 that I wish I could keep. But, life gets in the way, boys want to eat things I shouldn't, etc. I fluctuate between 125 & 133.
And the workouts sometimes are not as intense, as I find I get more tired, especially doing STS. Hope this helps!

Speaking of life getting in the way, Karate tournament for Josh tomorrow......EARLY!!!! He is going to break a brick! AND a board with his head, two boards together with his hand and feet. Makes a Mother proud, doesn't it?

Have a great weekend and Hi to all!!!

Deb08

good grief! tracie looks fabulous!! would love to have legs like that. have ya'll had a chance to preview any of her new workouts?

today was my off day, but the grandkids were here all day and we rode and played outside. it was beautiful here today, cool and sunny. then , we had a 10 yr anniversary party this evening. i am beat.

magnolia, i have 3 horses, and one little mini/pony varmit. 2 qtr. horses and a paint.

yes lori, i am very blessed. we have chickens, dogs, cats and cows out back. but the cows don't belong to us, we just take care of them. although, it is quites a bit of work. but, i've had horses most of my life and have always been totally nuts about them.

Cathy Tracie's new Longevity workouts are not out yet.

Deb08 Congrats on having that Final behind you. 85 is good! :)

Magnolia I have all of the Firm classics on VHS and converted them myself to DVD w/chapters. I have not seen Anna's versions I hear they are done very well.

Lori My biggest problem with food is sweets. If I could just not snack in the afternoons. It's a trigger that goes off inside my head everyday must have something sweet.

I'll be MIA for a couple of days. My husband has to go to the Cleveland clinic for some tests. We are driving there tomorrow. I will have my laptop with me and may pop in. Have a good week everyone!! I'll start Meso 2 when I get back.

Beth I wanted to congratulate you on training for a marathon! YOU GO GIRL!! I am not a runner and really admire anyone who can. Please keep us informed on your progress. :) Also I really wish I could find that secrete to having the pounds just melt off -- some people make it look so easy. I keep trying!
