Still working so I thought I would get us started. Today was a terrible eating day. I don't know why I was so hungry today. I had about 1600 calories. Once I started I just didn't stop eating. I was so happy about the way I looked last night. I felt thinner. I feel so bloated and fat now. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Good Morning, Y'All!

Sorry to have been absent, but mostly sorry that I didn't let you know I would be on vacation. We were really involved getting ready for this one.

The bad news is that vacation was a cruise on an Italian ship. Imagine what a diet buster that food was! I did pace myself and my clothes are no tighter, but it was tough. This morning, I got up at 5:30 because my body clock thinks it's 11:30. Anyway, it was nice, even thought we both got miserable colds. I am just glad to be home!! There is no bed more comfortable than your own.

Well, have a great day, everyone!

Magnolia

Magnolia that sounds like a wonderful vacation. At least you know we miss you when you aren't here.

I gave up on 500 calorie diet but will try it again later. I did like the 5lb loss. I am back to my regular diet. I will try to keep it at 1200 calories for a week. Then I will go back to high and low days averaging 1400 calories. It's not that you are hungry on the 500 calories but you just desire certain flavors after a while. I could stay on it perfectly for about a week. If I can keep the weight off, the 5 lb will be enough.

Magnolia is back!

Welcome back. We missed you!

Wi this morning is 161.6lb. I hope that is the last increase. It must all be water because I haven't eaten enough to gain. Joan

Well, it's Monday I strapped the ol'gwf back on this morning. I am going to start trying to do south beach phase 2. I know, who am I kidding, thinking I can do phase 1. So, starting with phase 2. :) One of the problems I have with SB is the lunch meat, not a fan. So I have to try to keep cooked turkey or chicken around.

Treadmill this morning for 40 minutes, free weights and 100 swings with 8 pound bell.

Good morning, Y'All!

Thanks, I missed all of you, too!

It was a wonderful cruise. The jet lag coming back has actually been worse than going over. I have been really tired by about 8 pm, but have been going to bed every night at 10 in an attempt to reset my clock. Getting there slowly!!

Jann, I have always found the South Beach Diet to be very effective. I have lost as much as 10 pounds in two weeks on Phase 1. Phase 2 is a lot easier. It's a very healthy diet, and if you have issues with your cholesterol, you will see a big improvement. It's just been hard to commit to anything, with the holidays and then knowing I was going on a cruise ship with lots of wonderful food. The only thing is that you need to be very careful about your carbs, or you gain all the weight back plus more.

I read a really good book by Michael A. Snyder, a doctor who specializes in gastric bypass and lap band surgeries. It's called Full: A Life Without Dieting. There is some really good advice in there. I am still trying to find a way to keep weight off without having to be on some diet or other, but we really love the food on South Beach (especially dh), so I am seeing it as a possibility in the near future.

I am going to do The Firm Ultimate Fat Burning Workout today, and the sun is out, so maybe a nice walk after lunch.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Good morning all,

Wi is back to 163.4lb. exactly what I was 2 weeks ago. It's so strange. I wasn't hungry eating 500 calories but can't eat enough eating more. Calories last two days were about 1600 but I still shouldn't gain more than a pound per day. I NEED TO EXERCISE!

Thanks, Magnolia. I have decided to start with phase 2 and throw in a couple of phase 1 days. I am such a carb eater, I really have to rethink my whole eating plan. I can keep my calories low and not be hungry with my carb plan, I have to admit I am hungry all the time now with keeping with 1200-1400 calories. My husband is trying it with me also.

I want a eating plan that is not a diet or at least doesn't feel like a diet too!

Joan, I wish I had an answer about our old bodies ;):p It really it trial and error. Then menopause kicks in and we have to start all over!!:rolleyes:

I did High Step Circuit this morning. It felt good using light weights.

Beth are you hiding again??

Replying to myself....

Basic step this morning.

I am patting myself on the back today. Last night around 8ish I was hungry not crazy hungry just felt like I needed something. Normally I would pop some pop corn, or have some cat cookies(trader joes). I looked at my display and I only had 8,9?? steps in, so I started walking around the kitchen, the dinning room, the living room. NCIS was a rerun so I didn't have to pay attention. I walked for 30 minutes.

Good morning, Y'All!

I did do Ultimate Fat Burning Workout yesterday. I was fine until I realized that it was Fat Tuesday, and since we always give up chocolate for Lent, I ate a bunch of Oreos. ;) Anyway, I'm being good today. :)

Jann, I like your idea of handling the South Beach Diet. We may very well do the same thing. About 90 per cent of the time, the meals I cook are based on recipes from their cookbooks. I made a really nice White Chicken Chipotle Chili the other night, and dh swears it almost cured his cold.

Everyone have a great day.

Magnolia

Hey Everyone!!

I am fighting a cold so I have been kind of tired-- I stopped coughing long enough to go to a spinning class, but now I can't move!

Magnolia- Glad your back!

Joan-- I'm sorry that the diet didn't work for you! I hope you can find the right balance soon!

Jann! You sound like you have it under control! I used to count steps and I was amazed at how hard it was to get them it everyday. I used to take my son to a tennis clinic and then walk the golf course for 1 1/2 hours-- that alone did NOT get me the 10,000 steps. That tells you something doesn't it? (Like,, ughhh, maybe I walk slow?) (or maybe the thing didn't work right?) I mean, who walks that much everyday?

Hi, Y'All!

I did Ignite Sculpt (one of the Firm Express workouts) today and followed it with a segment from Cathe's Total Body Stretching.

I am still feeling pretty run down. It will probably take a few more days before I am caught up on sleep, I think. Well, I hope so, anyway.

Beth, I am sorry to hear about that cold. I am just finishing up a pretty bad one of my own. I had that hacking cough, too. For most of my vacation, I might add. Now I'm at the "just really tired" part.

Stay well, everyone!

It seems like everytime I come here to read posts the phone rings and I don't reply to anyone. If I post this late at least no one will call. My mother has been unable to walk more than a few steps to the bathroom. I push the wheelchair to get her from bedroom to kitchen because hall too narrow to trust her driving. Since she can't stand long I have to make her breakfast, lunch and dinner. She used to get all that for herself. I feel like I have another full time job.

I have tried to get a short walk in every day.

Joan

[[[[Joan]]]] --- You do have another full time job. Your mother is a very lucky lady to have you. We all understand about posting. :)

Watching tv right now about the earth quake.....:(:(

Beth -- these colds going around right now, really, what is we used to say... "bite" -- feel better!

Magnolia resting up after vacation is never fun.

Well, yesterday I had to have pasta.:eek: Back to the diet today.

OK -- just got the word, we can tell people today --

My beatiful daughter-in-law is 12 weeks pregnant today!!!

Good morning, Y'All!

Jann, YAYYYYYYYY!!!!! :D I love being a grandmother. Just wish my little guy lived closer. Congratulations!!!

Joan, we have the same thing with my fil. He can't stand up for long at a time, even with a walker, and he can't really do much for himself. Luckily, he has my mil, and she's really in great shape. They also have some really valuable help in the form of a doctor friend who visits them often.

Beth, just hang in there. You know what to do, get your rest when you need it.

Hang in there, everyone.

Hi, I'm new here and thought of purchasing a video. My name is Mary Ann. I am 59 (today) and haven't been active for about 3 weeks. I am not very consistent either. My knees bother me, so what video would you recommend?

Mary Ann

Hi Mary Ann ! Welcome! What do you like to do? If you like step the Low Max is a good one. You could keep the step at the lowest. I love kick max.

Or if you have weights that opens up a whole new area.
