50 and over week of March 14 check in

Good morning?

I woke up to see 3 or 4 inches of snow and it doesn't look like it will stop anytime soon. I worked in the garden for a little while yesteday because it was so nice. I started appointments at 9am Saturday and kept working until 4:30 am on Sunday. I don't know if that was before or after the time change. After a few hours sleep I went back to work. The only break yesterday was to get outside and that was less than an hour. I will be glad when tax season is over.

Welcome Mary Ann. I will not be posting much until after April 15 and won't do much exercise except walking until I have more time. I almost think if you are serious about starting to lift weights you might want to get STS. You only lift what you are able to do. What do you other ladies think about that?

I was 163 yesterday and 161.6 today. It looks like I will bounce around with the scale but at least it isn't rising.

Sorry for the late start. I can't even promise it won't happen again.:eek:

Hi, Y'All!

Welcome, Mary Ann. I think the suggestions the others have made are all solid ones. I personally started with the Basic Step dvd, which includes the workouts Basic Step, Body Fusion and add ons for upper body, lower body and stability ball abs. It's an excellent introduction to Cathe's workouts. Joan's idea is good, if you are very serious about weight lifting, STS with a lot of modification would probably be good. I personally don't think you can go wrong with any of Cathe's dvds. Whichever one you choose, you can always modify the moves and/or use lighter weights until you can do it.

Speaking of Basic Step, I did that one today with stability ball abs. Just trying to get movement started again after vacation and bad colds, etc. Felt good to move.

You are right, Beth. The tired part does last a long time. I seem to be improving, though.

Joan, walking can still be a great stress buster!

Jann, so are you going to have your grandchild call you Nana? Tyler calls me Grandma Teresa (at my request).

Cathy--hi, there. I finally got to see Secretariat, and I loved it. What a great movie!!

Hi all!

I made a half heart attempt to do basic step today and gave up jumped on the treadmill for 10 minutes and called it quits. :confused::confused: I don't know who took my energy but, I WANT IT BACK!! :p

I have been running around like crazy. I am trying to settle my bmoms estate since we sold the house. It's been phone calls, appointments, and craziness with the siblings. Soon to be over!! :D:D

Magnolia... I asked to be called Granny. Since there are three of us, there will be a grandma and I believe Beth's(dil) mom would like to be called the Jewish grandmother name. I have been called Granny since Jeremy and Beth got their dogs....:rolleyes::eek:
 
Jann since I have stayed 25 years old for the last 35 years I told my dil that Elliot should call me sis.:D Elliot actually started calling me mama but since she called dil mommy it was ok. Once she could talk they practiced grandma. I'm Grandma Joan, my mother is Grandma Ruth. Since I was used to telling my kids Grandma Ruth it was easier for us to all be grandma's.

I didn't schedule any appointments for Tuesday so I could get some work caught up. Now I have to take care of Luke because he has an ear infection and dil thinks he will sleep better here than at daycare.

Off to bed.

Good morning everyone!

I am suffering the bloat that comes with eating outside my normal choices. I made corned beef and cabbage and carrots etc yesterday in the crockpot for dh and ds. WOW! Was it good! After all those days of the 3 oz chicken etc I went a little nuts! I wish there was a way to stick to the diets and have some actual flavor!

Magnolia after reading your step explanation I decided I am going to try some of those more basic steps. I had topped doing the step workouts because they make me feel bad when my brain shuts down. Maybe I just need to retrain the brain !

Jann maybe that tis why your energy is gone. Sometimes for me it is not energy I just loose interest halfway through a workout.

Joan I do not know how you keep up with everyone at your house ! That and taxes too!
 
Good morning, Y'All!

Well, I just finished The Firm Total Body Toner. I thought this would be a relatively simple workout, but I always forget the fact that I have gotten somewhat out of shape. It was good to move, and I managed to do all of it, though. The weather forecast indicates some nice weather this week, so I am hoping to get out for a nice walk one or two days. I am concentrating on workouts I consider basic ones until my stamina has improved and I'm bored with them. As far as my diet is concerned, I am concentrating on one element of my general health each week and trying not to complicate things too much. So far, I've got that water drinking thing down and my sleep is better. I really am not grabbing so many in between meal snacks since I started this. Maybe it will work.

Jann, sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday. I hope it was wonderful. I saw the picture with your two sweet doggies, and you look great.

Joan, I like your reasoning for being called Grandma Joan and your Mom as Grandma Ruth. Makes it simpler for little children, I think.

Morning ladies!

Magnolia are you talking about my bday pictures on facebook? :D:D Thanks!! My birthday was in July - :D:D They come around too quickly as is.... LOL :D:D Not having another one yet. They are my sons dogs. I call them grandpuppies. lol
I a doing only basic workouts too! I am enjoying them.

We are suppose to get to 70 degrees this week!! woohoo!

Beth -- it's my energy. It is crazy low. I may be coming down with a cold. I have been sneezing like crazy. My nose is runny etc etc. :( Oh well.

Joan - I agree you are one busy women.

No workout today. I am giving myself permission to not feel guilty. :rolleyes:

Thursday it was actually hot outside. I don't know what the temperature was. I haven't walked all week so I think I will take some time this morning to walk. My back is killing me. I shouldn't sit at the computer and desk constantly.

I hope we all get back to exercise on a regular basis. We can wait until April 15.:D

Yesterday was a little rough. I had appointments (blood work & hair appt.), so it kinda threw me, but I got back on track today with Firm Ultimate Fat Burning Workout. Now I have too much work to do here in the house to think of walking, even though it's so pretty outside. I will find a way to sneak out, though.

Joan, I think if you can even just take a break for 10 or 15 minutes to take a short walk, that could probably do you a world of good. I think we will all get there, just have to persevere.

Hey where did my posts go???? :(:(:(

Hmm what did I say? Something clever :p, can't remember. So -- Today was clx burn dsc1. I forgot how much I liked this workout. I am going to put together a CLX modified rotation.

It's 70 degrees outside today. I'll be out in the yard doing some spring clean up. :D
