I think I'll put off disc 2 until Thursday. Since it works back I'm going to give it another day.

Good afternoon, Joan, Jann, Bev, Pauline and Beth. I hope you are all well.

I did have to take some Advil yesterday and last night. I was sore when I first got up this morning, but it really wasn't too bad. I did Basic Step so my muscles would be nice and "toasty" before I did some extra stretching (segment one from Total Body Stretching). Much better now.

I just got word that CLX is on the way!

Good afternoon everyone!

Just finished the week 1 legs on the STS!! (500 cals counting the warmup I did) It was great, but now I am curious about the weighted vests.. those that are using one.. does it seem to help burn more? Someone reviewed Cathes vest not so nice in the shopping forum but she has one on in one of the legs discs- seems like a good way to increase calories burned.

Jann, you could charge a user fee to your workout space - I have a nice little space too but unfortunately it is half office, so when I am working out, I sometimes get distracted by my overflowing desk. Two years ago, I ripped out the carpet and put in a floating hardwood floor (by myself). The rubber mats would be ideal, though for the jumps. My motto is, anything that will enhance our health and/or sanity is worth it in the long run.

Bev, I am strying to figure out what you mean by "stats"- is that in the workout manager?

I am really getting into step again after several months of just running and walking- I feel like it keeps my brain focused in addition to the workout- I am thinking of getting IMAX2 since everyone seems to like that one- any thoughts on what is your favorite step routine? One that can be used for cardio and not neccessarily with the added weight workout.

Beth I have Cathe’s 10# vest. I do think adding weight burns more calories. I have not used it a lot though. I know a lot of people say how comfortable it is, it’s not uncomfortable but you know you have it on your back. :confused: I have a weight belt that goes around my hips I like a lot better. It’s feels more natural. You put down your own floor? “”highs fives”” to you! :D Imax2 is my favorite of the 3. I am probably the laziest stepper of all,:eek: I don’t want to have to think about it. I do love good music!

I have not worked out yet. On tap is Push Circuit 1. I have an ab belt the doctor gave me it seems to be helping me feel better when working out.
 
Good afternoon, Ladies.

I had the rare luxury of a little extra time this morning, so I picked up an oldie from my collection--The Firm's The Tortoise. Sometimes I forget how much fun those old workouts are, and it's nice to do one now and then. It's like meeting an old friend. I was using slightly heavier weights than I normally use, and I had to back off a little toward the end. I need to push past my comfort zone a little on the weights, and I hope CLX will help me do that.

I love pulling out an old Firm -- old friends indeed! :D
To get the most out of CLX you will have to pull some weights out you might not normally use. :cool: As you will hear a 1000 ++++ times, ;) that's the science behind her system.

I pushed through Push circuit one today. My legs are talk'n to me this afternoon.

Do you have The Firms before they had names-- volume 1, 11 and 111? I got back in shape after my second pregnancy with those- they were great!

Actually, I was one of those who started with The Firm Volume 1 in 1986! I pre-ordered every Firm after that until about 1998 or so. Recently, Volumes 2 & 3 and Tortoise and Hare have been re-released on DVD. I was totally hooked on The Firm workouts until they started to get a little too easy. They were really great.

I'm up late from choir rehearsal again. I think when we sing, we suck in more oxygen and it gets us going or something. I'll collapse in about 30 min. or so. Have a great night!

I wish I had met the firm back then. I didn't pick up a Firm workout until BSS1. I also got hooked. I have since then acquired every single one of them. I have them all(except ballroom) on DVD thanks to some handy conversion equipment. ;)
Beth or Magnolia have either of you been to the Firm? I went a couple of times. Jen was my favorite then Allie. It's certainly not the same these days. :(
 
Jann, I've never been to the Firm Studio, even though I'm from Marietta, GA, and was close enough to have visited. (But I live in NY now.) I liked Allie. I always liked Susan Harris and Nancy Strickland, too, and Volume 3 with Sandahl Bergman was my favorite of the workouts. Not sure if I could handle it now, maybe with lighter weights and a lot of pausing. I think the best workouts being produced on video currently are Cathe's. She really puts the "work" in workout!

Speaking of Cathe -- today is my anything cardio day so I picked up LIC I did the premix cardio blast circuit :D I had a blast! Girls just wanna have fuunn.

Good one! This was cardio day for me, too, so I did the cardio only from Body Fusion. I had to pull step height back down to 6", but that was okay.

Sorry I didn't have time to check in yesterday. I worked to 3:00am both Wednesday and Thursday. No wo either day.

I just finished sts disc 2. I will try to get to the gym to do pullups or at least try to do pull ups. If I have time later I want to do one of the ab circuits. It will have to be Sunday for disc 3, unless I can fit it in on Saturday night.

I caught up on all your postings. Good job on wo everyone.:D:D
I deliberately took a second rest day for back. It's almost pain free now.

Jann I guess I'll go back to trying to get more potassium. I don't have high blood pressure but I don't want to cut out anymore salt. (although I don't salt much)

I forgot official weigh in but I didn't gain.:D

Joan it sounds like you are doing just fine! It is so hard to stay on track when you have extra work to do on top of your regular days. Good thing tax season is only once a year!;)
I have found a couple of things that help with potassium. Hearts of palm in my salad, low calorie too! Spinach, I have been trying to add spinach to salads, pasta, sandwiches any thing I can think of. Avocado is good, but this one put the fats up.

Good evening,

Still haven't done abs. I stopped at gym after dinner out and used assisted pullup machine. I did set of 12, then 6, and then 5. I think weight is correct if I had allowed a little more time between sets. I could have done more the first set.

I feel lower back from disc 2 wo but I think it is muscle soreness not pain.
