50 and over month of June check in

hi

Jann- Good work on the 4 pounds!!! Is the diet printed up somewhere? Good work for stickingwith it and adding the exercise.

Joan-Are you sure you are recording everything? I know I am a mindless eater-- but one good thing is we never give up hope!!! I think the ony way it comes off is like Jann and what we did before-- LOW calories!! But, what do I know? Maybe it was just that having that plan prevented me from the mindless eating thing.

Magnolia--Good work on getting off that couch!!! I hoe you are better.

Well, I read some of the other posts for motivaton and I good hooked into one of the rotations- the butt blaster one (Ill look for the link in a minute) and decided that woud be my plan even if I had to modify. I remembered that although the STS really made me strong- I still felt- LARGE- so, yesterday I did Cardio Core Circuit- which is a LOT of jumping that I had not done in a while- but it was good. I could not do 300 lunges though- I did maybe 100. Today I did LOWER BODY BLAST-- and I am actualy not done.. Just taking a break before the floor work to report in-- I am overweight and out of shape but I am going to continue on this path even if I have to take breaks!! I really do not care about the upper body at ths point so this is the plan!!:p

I need to stop complaining because the diet is working I was 174lb today and that is the average loss of 1/2lb per week only early. I was to hit that July 1. It's just that 1/2lb per week is incredibly slow and any 2lb water weight gain makes it look terrible.

I agree that varying the calories is the right way to go. As long as I keep calories low most days it allows me to go out to eat once or twice.

I did get my 30 minutes in on treadmill. I'm setting my goals low so that I will actually do it.

Joan

All - righty!! WE are ALL hanging in there!! :D

Beth - The diet is eat 90% fruit and vegetables 10% grains and meat. No dairy, sugar, white flour. It's a 7 day crash by Dr. Fuhrman. You can eat as much as you want but, the kicker (for me) you can only eat 3 meals, no snacks! I didn't track calories. It gave me the kick I needed, no way could I live like that.

I am doing Bob Harpers skinny rules now. It's much easier to follow. :) My goal is to take this week by week.

Joan-- yay!! Working is good!

I did a hour on the treadmill this morning. I am tired. I plan to just mow today and only do the front edging. It's suppose to get really hot here - I want to get at least the mowing done today. 2 workouts down, 2 more for this week. I am making small goals also! This will work.

Beth I'm getting really good at recording food immediately. Myfitnesspal makes it so easy because they seem to have everything in the memory. Most of the time I try to record food before I eat it to check on calories first. I am truly the least active person I know. Except my mother and she doesn't count since she sits in her chair all day. I sit in my chair almost all day. Right now I'm trying to get at least 5000 steps in a day.

I think for me eating so I'm not hungry will be better for a lifetime challenge. I don't think I will ever be able to eat what I'd like to eat. But I don't want to eat so little my body gets used to that. I know I need to go back to building muscle but right now I don't seem to have the energy for that.

Joan

Good morning, Y'All!

So sorry to have been awol lately, but I have been handling medical issues this week. I finally found a primary care physician for dh and me. I had blood drawn yesterday, and am trying to get in touch with the lab he's sending me to so I can determine how much the tests he prescribed are going to cost.

Joan, sorry to hear all the stuff you have been going through! I hope things will improve.

At least we are all hanging in there and fighting! Results will come, if we just work at it. I have been working out 3 days (dvd), and my plan is to add walking two other days and extra stretching. I am also cutting out sugar, white flour and have limited my carbs. I have lost 3 lbs. since I did that.

Have a great day, everyone!

Magnolia

Good job everyone! Magnolia- I cut out all sugar and white flour as well for the last two days, but someone bought cookies and I ate one!! AURGHHH!!

Joan- my fitness pal seems like it is worth it- for one thing it is giving you positive feedback and that means alot!

Jann- are you walking or running on the treadmill? Mine sits there and doesnt get used, but someone had suggested a 4 min walk daily but on a 15 incline.. I thought about trying that combined with watching a new mini series or something.

Today is kickboxing on the rock hard bottoms rotation- I am going to lace up in a moment- I had to take DH to the doctor earlier... I am trying to remember that my health is important too!!:D

Magnolia, You are so right. We are hanging in there and fighting.

Now if we just lived near each other so we could exercise together.

Hi 50's+!!

Beth I walk/jog on the treadmill. I vary the incline and the speed. Walking to a jon bon jovi dvd -- is awesome!!!!;);):p

Joan -- I know I wish we lived closer as well. That would be so much fun to meet at a park and walk and walk. :D

Magnolia -- wow 3 pounds is great!!

I got up at 4am this morning. My day to water is Wednesday. I got to the town park by 5:15 it took 2 hours to water. Then I came home and watered my own yard. Then I took a nap! I just got back from errands... it is hot! Housework and prepping our bedroom to paint. Move, move, and move some more! :)

Hi, Y'All!

Jann, I think all that work prepping for painting and gardening translates into burning calories. And don't be discouraged because you ate one cookie. Just don't dwell on it and get right back on your eating plan.

I also wish we all lived close enough to meet at a park and walk together! Wouldn't that be great! I don't have any takers here, and going to the park alone can be tricky sometimes.

Have a great evening, everyone!

Magnolia

Excuse me. Sometimes I forget who said what when I am posting in a hurry! I meant to direct my cookie comment to Beth.

Anyway, "see" y'all tomorrow!

Magnolia

I saw this on Pinterest... toooo funny! Kind of some up how I feel. :D:D

I just got my haircut thank goodness. It was so long I was about to chop it off myself. My hairdresser frowns on that.:D I didn't have time for color and this cut eliminated all prior color. EEK!!! I like the color on the top but both sides are both darker. If it were all platinum I might leave it but I'm not sure if I can stand the other color. It doesn't completely look like a skunk but close.

Joan

Joan I have to say I am so so so so so so so so so glad I don't color my hair. I started turning gray when I was 16 and started coloring it well into my 30's one day I said enough and never looked back. My hair dresser told me I would hate it -- she agrees now, it was a good choice. I looked like a skunk for a few weeks then she was able to blend it in until it grew out enough.
I love the color and it really is meant to be. I know I am in the minority on hair color -- :)

Good morning, Y'All!

I just finished Figure 30 Hips (Tracie Long) with modifications. Perhaps I did not get as weak as I thought, there are some moves that aren't too problematic for me. I kept the pressure off my shoulders, though. I am getting a CAT scan of my left shoulder next week, and I don't want to tweak it.

I went to my hairdresser yesterday as well. I think I am going to allow myself a few more years before I give up on the hair color.

Have a great day, everyone!

Hair and more

Well, I can't talk workout yet today, but I can talk hair...

I have been getting my hair highlighted since college. I stil go to the same guy (well since I was 24) and he still does the same thing, just runs the foil and peroxide highlights- no color. I wanted to do the undercolor like some people are doing but he says no, because he is sure I won't take care of it (whatever that means) , but the best thing I found recently is the keraton treatments. They smooth the hair down and it can last for 3 months if you only shampoo with a certan kind of shampoo. I do like the way my hair feels with that. I do those myself.

So now, onto the butt blaster workout- weight is down 2 pounds this week!!!

LOL -- You guys. :D

Beth you have light hair, right? From the pictures on FB your hair looks great. :) Have a great workout!

My trouble is I don't remember what my real (former) hair color was. I started changing it when I was in my 20's. I didn't think it was more than a medium brown but the side hair now almost looks black. I will probably go back to the light brown not quite blond look for awhile unless I decide I like the ease of not coloring and/or like this color. It always takes me awhile to get used to a new look.

I have been on treadmill everyday, Yea. Not much in the way of exercise but more than I have done lately.

We are thinking of going to Atlantic City July 26-29 to Caesars. They are having a food and wine event. Just what I need. We've never been and it would be a cheap vacation.

Joan

Weigh in was about what it was last Monday but 2lb down from last Sunday. Let's see what tomorrow weigh in is.

I just notice that next Sunday is July 1. How can that be?

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Joan

Up 1 pound :( --- well, I did eat pizza yesterday and really bad on saturday -- Back on track today!

Joan Food and wine event sounds like a lot of fun!!
