50 and over month of June check in

Yea a new month and a new start.

I should lose my 1/2lb this week- average calories eaten is 1311 and average calories used is 1658. I don't know anyone who is less active than me. But I need to accept the lower loss rate and not get discouraged unless I'm willing to do more.

My best friend's daughter was riding a scooter and was cut off by a car. She fell off and pretty well broke the left side of her body. Tibula, fibula and her wrist. I know she also has a blood clot below the knee and hyperextended her right hand. It will take 3-4 months of recovery time. This is so much like my niece's injuries from her car wreck.

Yea I am down 1lb. I am still planning on the 1/2lb per week but will be glad to celebrate when it is more.

We are taking ds out for his birthday but I think I have got the hang of ordering food out.

You guys ever go through a period of "what the hay?" I just may never get back into my skinny pants ever again! :eek::eek: I bought Bob Harpers new book. Going to give it a try. It's nothing new, just a new way to approach it. :)

The weather has been great the last couple of days, a little chilly for me ;) but really nice.
I pick up my frog stepping stone today. So excited, I ordered it a while back. Then off to get more mulch.
Gardening truly does make me happy! :D I posted a couple of new pictures on Facebook. The rain has really made my garden grow.

Jann, I did see those pictures. What a beautiful yard you have! Looks like a professional landscaper did the work!

Well, I am still couch-bound. I went to the chiropractor on Friday and really felt pretty good after that, but then mil came for the weekend, and dh could not handle the housework that needed to be done, so I think I may have given myself a set back. My chiropractor thinks I am under a lot of stress, which is causing muscle spasms in my neck. I am better, but not enough to try working out just yet.

Magnolia I wish I could help you with the stress. You really need to get over all your aches and pains.

I can't tell if I blew my dining out tonight or not. We went to a Japanese steakhouse. I have no idea what I ordered was called. It came in a stone bowl with white rice, veg , chicken with an over medium egg on top. It came with a very spicy sauce. It is normally beef but I asked for chicken. It didn't seem too oily and I didn't eat all the rice.

I'm sure everything was salty so I may wait until Monday to weight.

Hi all! Another Sunday and I weigh the same to the ounce again! :( At least I am no gaining -- I don't see how I could possibly be!

I'm ready for another week but I hope this one has exercise in it.

I finally got dh to get his blood pressure done at grocery store. He was telling me his BP was up because they took it at work. It was 149/97 today. Not horribly high but higher than it has ever been. Fortunately mine was 119/67 so I could nag him.:D He has to go to the doctor within the next 90 days to get new prescription so I should have back up. I don't want him to just start taking medicine without trying to lose the weight.

Joan -- At least he knows his body is changing. Blood pressure is tricky.

Well ladies, I am on a CRASH diet -- I know, I know, I know it's not the best idea. I am tired of not losing!!! I put on this 10 pounds in the last year and I can not take it off!!!! SO -- Dr. Oz -- :rolleyes: had this doctor on his show last week and he approved this 7 day crash diet. Dr. Fuhrman is a little radical in his beliefs but it's 7 days. Basically it's just cutting out sugar, white flour, all meat and oil. It's fruit and vegetables only - you can eat as much as you want 3 times a day. No snacks. He also suggests this health drink, pomegranate, strawberry's and lemon juice. I started it Sunday. I have lost 2 pounds :eek::eek:. I am hungry though. He claimed I would not be -- :mad: I am giving it 7 days, it feels like a fat flush.

Yesterday I did one of Bob Harpers cardio something. Today I will be walking.

Hope the diet works Jann. I'm still going with the really slow diet. At least I can see with the fitbit and myfitnesspal why I'm not losing. Or when I should.
 
Thanks Joan! I am hoping to take off a bit quicker then maintain. Fingers crossed! Lost another .8 this morning! :) Day 4 today.

Sorry to have been absent, but dh took me home (Atlanta) for my birthday. Saw my grandson & we had a great time. Now I am back and ready to attack my pain with a different approach. Dr. appointment today.

I know I have gained a good bit of weight, but started back on diet this morning. I have a pretty busy day today, but plan to start working out again tomorrow.

Joan I read that piece about the 75 yr. My goodness. Her face doesn't have one single wrinkle??? Good genes!!

I am about to take Reggie on a long walk this morning. It's really brisk out and both of us need a good walk. ;) When we get back I hope to do some weights with Bob harper.

Thank you, I had a wonderful birthday.

I was going to the doctor yesterday, but my car decided I wasn't. Taking the car into the shop, and I will see the doctor on Monday.

I decided to work out anyway. I think movement will help, because just sitting on the couch was definitely making things worse. I did an old Firm, Cardio Sculpt Blaster. It just felt good to move, and I iced afterward. I am feeling better than I have in a long time.

I think Ernestine Shepard is my new role model. She's amazing!

Hi Guys

Life sure does get complicated after 50, eh?? I wish I could say I was following some plan and keeping in shape, but it is really hard!! I have more things going wrong in my life right now that I can even keep up with!! I am convinced that stress makes one fat now!

Hopefully, I will get a grip again soon!!! For right now, I am bored with everthing and just cant seem to get a routine. Maybe it is time to take it outside for a while. Anyway, I miss you all--- maybe we should all rally again together!!
 
I would love to rally right now. No ambition and just can't get started.

I pinched a nerve in my back last night while babysitting. I was wiping up a spill on the kitchen floor and could barely get back up. I slept on an ice pack all night and it is a lot better but didn't think I could wrap my mother's legs. I missed last night because I couldn't bend over. My brother said he would come over and do it tonight. Db came and I went out to dinner with dh since he had been gone all week. I just found out that my mother had told him he didn't need to bother. Since you only do one leg a day usually, it will now be 3 days since the left one was done and that's just too long. So now I will have to get both of them done tomorrow. She drives me crazy.

Of course I over ate tonight and that was before I knew this. It wasn't just the food because I had a couple of drinks. I think it was the pain I was trying to get rid of. Can I run away from home?

Yesterday my brother(yes the same one) told me that my car he has been using had the front and back windshield and the driver's side window broken out. He is a security guard at a church and the car was in the parking lot.
There goes $685.

Dh had a crazy business trip. He checked his bag at the gate and they put it directly on the plane but when they got there they couldn't find the bag. Coming back he had to go through the body scanner and couldn't have anything including paper in his pocket. He put his boarding pass in his shoe but when it came out the other side his boarding pass was gone. Yes he actually did get home.

Joan -- yes come live with me --- I am so so sorry your life is so upside down! {{{Joan}}} I hope your back get better quickly. Gosh as if traveling isn't hard enough. :(

Beth -- I could use a rally! Yes, life after 50 is complicated especially because most of us are sandwiched between taking care of parents and still being parents +++ grandchildren!

Today is day 7 of my 7 day "crash" diet -- weigh in is tomorrow morning. As of this morning I had lost almost 4 pounds. I was hoping for 7!! :( Dr F claims it would be 10. I followed pretty close -- I had an afternoon snack everyday, fruit/seeds. I guess that was enough to throw it off. :confused:

I really need to start working out regularly. I am like you guys -- I just can't get into it lately. All I want to do is work in my yard. :eek:

AND Yes I completely believe Stress makes one fat. :mad:

I started 3 weeks ago at 176.4lb and averaged eating 1404 calories the first week and lost 1 pound. The second week I averaged 1449 calories and stayed the same. The third week I averaged 1485 calories and gained .8lb. Total loss for 3 weeks .2lb.

Average calories used were 1654,1639 and 1695 per day.

The first week I had 5 of the 7 at around 1200 calories and then one high at 2068 and one at 1564 calories. I don't know if varying the calories helps or if I just need to keep everyday at 1200 calories. I do know I need to be more active.

I at least did 30 minutes on treadmill. I almost typed dreadmill.:)

I am going to start counting calories today. Last week was a good kick-in-the-pants for me. Losing 4 pounds has gotten me motivated. :D
This weeks goal is to workout 4x's. Eat 6 mini meals w/protein. No sugar or white flour. See how this goes.

I need to get a rotation put together.... sigh.
