50 and over month of December check in

Good morning, Y'All!

Joan, glad your plan is working for you. It sounds as if you are having success.

Beth, please get to the doctor asap! I should have, but fooled myself into thinking that if I just rested, took a lot of fluids and didn't push it I would be fine. Since I started the antibiotics, I am much better, but with two more doses to go, I am not going to miss even one of those, and I am being as careful as possible.

I did manage to lead singing at the 10:15 mass yesterday morning, came home and took it easy, then sang in the concert last night. I found that the coughing has eased up a lot, and I made it through all that just fine. I am taking a down day today. I did, however, manage to get in about 25 minutes of stretching this morning, and I do feel quite a bit better. I think it's time to start stretching and maybe doing a little light cardio until after the 1st, when I plan to get back into the swing of things.

Please stay well, everyone!

hi ya'll, well, ok, i think i'm almost ready for Christmas. got the presents wrapped. and, i actually got 3 boxes packed for the move, and have a BIG box for goodwill. and, probably alot more big boxes for goodwill. we will probably start moving after the new year. still am not thrilled about it, but kinda gettin used to the idea. my house is a wreck right now, been going thru 28 yrs. of stuff and shopping, and stuff.
today, i did low impact challenge today. all but the blast, gonna do the blast tomorrow with body sculpt. well, i think, may die from BS.
and, we will have around 35 people here for Christmas, so have alot to do, although there will be 3 ladies helping me cook. isn't that great??? , i don't have to do it all myself. our very last Christmas here. i'm gonna be sad

HI all!. Magnolia I am so glad you are getting better and can sing. Take your time getting back into it. My goodness pneumonia is nothing to mess with.

Joan - Sounds like you had a very successful go around this time. So you are going to do it again?

Beth I agree with Magnolia get to the doctor. What ever is going around is just hitting people hard. I had another friend in bed sick for 2 days.

Hi Cathy -- sorry about the move. Enjoy your Christmas.

I've been walking Reggie mid day, it's a little warmer. Mornings are just to cold. Beth I think I remember you asking about a dog park. Yes we have one I took Reggie there during the summer. It was fun. We have a leash law here so they can't just run. Not everyone obeys it though.
Today I am doing pub just one set. Then onto errands.

Have a great day ladies.

Hi, Y'All!

Beth, how are you doing? I hope you are feeling much better.

Cathy, I am also sorry about your impending move. It's very difficult to leave a place you have called home for many years. I'll be thinking of you and your family.

Joan and Jann, hi. Hope you are well and everything is fine where you are.

I am much better, but I guess it is going to take a while to get rid of the hacking. I am not doing it very often, but it is just annoying and uncomfortable. But my energy level is lots better. I have decided to do mostly stretching and some light cardio until after January 1.

Have a great evening, everyone!

Magnolia

HI all! My goodness I've spent the last two days running around. I wish I would have tracked my millage!
No workout today, unless you count walking, walking, and more walking! ;)

Baking cookies and babysitting Raelynn tomorrow.

Good Day!!

Magnolia- the hacking continues for a long time. I ventured back to the bike and to a trx class the other night and I am still hacking when I start to get my heart rate up! I am over the stomach thing though and (unfortunately) able to eat again!

Jann- Running around doing errands burns calories!!

Cathy- I forgot about your move- you mentioned it about a year ago I think-- Hope its going well

Joan-How are you doing?

Sorry to be missing. This Saturday was our annual Christmas party so last week was all about cleaning and cooking and today family came over for leftovers. I love the party but it's a lot of work.

I've kept up the 2-3 miles a day but need to do more. Only 2 more days of babysitting so hope I have more time.

I'll do the diet because it is an effective way to get off newly gained pounds but I don't think I can stay on it long enough to lose a lot of extra pounds. But we will see. I am even thinking of going on it for the next few days but I won't know until tomorrow. If I do it will be without the drops.

Joan

I thought I had cold sores/fever blisters above lips. Now I have a line of blisters from lip marching up my nose. DH thinks I may have shingles. Oh joy. I guess that means another trip to the doctor. Looked on internet and shingles that get to your eyes can mean blindness.

Joan

HI ladies! It's that time of year -- busy, busy, busy. So that means quiet, quiet, quiet here.:D

I've been keeping up with my walking also Joan. No dvd workouts. I just don't have the energy. :( I ordered the new Firm with Allie workout. I am anxious to give it a try.

I am completely ready for Christmas, a few more to wrap and done! We have our family party on Christmas eve eve. So I'll be cooking and preparing then, the grocery shopping is done.

Joan I don't know much about shingles, just you should get checked out.

Magnolia and Beth - hope you both are on the mend. :)

I can tell you one thing about shingles- it hurts. Just back from doctor and it is shingles. I take 4 capsules 5 times a day. If we caught it early enough this will be it. If not the pain can come back when ever it feels like it. The blisters are along the nerve. She said if my eyes get worse than current problems to go to the emergency room.

Joan

I wouldn't be as worried except they told me if my eyes got worse to immediately go to the emergency room.

I was looking forward to having three days without the kids to get some work done. I don't feel like doing anything.

Joan

Pamper yourself Joan, the work can wait. Hopefully the meds will kick in quickly and start drying them out so they don't spread. {{{Joan}}}

Getting worried. Blisters are 1/2 inch closer to eye than they were yesterday.

Also nose is funny. I know strange problem but it hurts to blow my nose.

Oh no!! That is very close to your eyes. Are you going to call the doctor again? Did they tell you how long before meds kick in? I am so sorry.

Jann I did end up going to the emergency room last night. I found out that the blisters usually only follow 1 of the nerves of the face. The nerve coming down from the forehead is the one that would damage the cornea. They put dye in that eye to check for damage but it is ok.

The bad news is that the pain I was feeling in that eye is probably blisters about to erupt in my lower eyelid. Sounds like the blisters will follow along from my nose to my left ear above glasses at the hair line. Doctor said it will get worse before it gets better.

I can't tell if medicine is helping or not because I don't know what to expect. I had hoped that after the 7 days of medication I would be over this. From the paper they gave me it can last from 2 weeks to a month.

Joan

Joan-

Ive been away from these posts so Im just now reading this---but-- my dad had shingles in his eyes- he got them when he was visiting me- we took a walk on the beach and he felt like he has sand in his eyes- it was weeks later that he went to the eye doctors and discovered the shingles- only a little on the forehead- if I had read this earlier I would have said - GO NOW to an eye doctor- not a regular doctor-- thats the only way they can tell and they do have a steroid for it- but I guess you did that already? For the rest of us- we should be getting the shingles vaccine- I have not wanted to for the same reason I dont like the flu vaccine- but shingles can be nasty... I hope you are ok!!

I'm still taking the steroid and antibiotic for my eyes from the previous eye infection. I called eye doctor before eyes were hurting but they said they couldn't do anything unless it got to the eyes. They would get me in though. The emergency room had the eye doctor equipment to look in my eyes. He actually did a better job with the drops. Of course it was at night when nothing else is open.

The paper they gave me said that stress and infection can cause the virus to activate.

I will certainly be glad when this year is over. I guess next year has to be better.

We are going to a different New Year's eve party this year in Las Vegas. It is a black tie dinner/dance at the Flamingo. I had hopes to look half way decent. I'm not sure the scabs on my face will be all that attractive.

Joan- just a pretty dress and some coverup on those scabs and you'll look fine! Having fun is more important at this point! No stress!!

No workout for me today! It is the end of the year accounting making me sit forever- auuughhh!! Dexter gave me a "kiss" and punctured my lip- so I look great too!!

Joan I am with Beth, dress to the nines and wear makeup and most important Have A Good Time! :D

It must be in the air. Reggie and I were playing and he pawed my face. I have a cut over my bottom lip.

Well, time to take him for his walk before he scratches the door paint off. Tonight is my Christmas eve eve party.

Have a great day ladies!
