40's - week of 8/26/12

Jody, you are like my GF, I told her last time she wouldn't plan our hike (I always plan, and just once I'd like someone else to do the planning) I couldn't believe how indecisive she was, she came back at me and said she was flexible.

I'll go check out that thread, thx. I did a different version of my jello thing last night. I made it really thick and just let it dry over night, man, my hair was stuck to my head! Will see how it turned out this morning once I do my hair. At one point I thought, I'll NEVER get this stuff out!

Lisa-I went to a running company and did that and they just suggested to wear asics which I already was doing but my PT sent me and article that said you shouldn't wear running shoes while using the elliptical instead it should be a crosstrainer so I looked on Zappos and Asics makes a cross trainer. Last night I wore Ryka Transitions.

Jody-stop changing your mind you made the right decision.

Roxie, I do find that I can't wear my running shoes on the bike (sole seems to flexible). I didn't know that about ellipticals, never really used one, but I'm starting to think of buying one. Should I try the motion out first? I just need something lower impact than running sometimes and my PF bothers me almost as much on the spin bike when doing the standing drills. sigh.

Roxie, you sounded just like a Mom to Jody. loved it!

Hi girls! I had some energy today! I did my row, CS&T from STS meso 2, and the plyo tabata from CF. I am going to have to figure out my workouts for when I go back to work. I will only have a small window of time. Jody, are you waffling? You could try the other program after you finish this one, you said you will only be working 3 days a week. Don't we make ourselves crazy!? Roxie, I was thinking of what Lisa said, sometimes my feet fall asleep if they are tied too tight. Lisa, do you use flavored jello? Do you go to bed with a shower cap? I know, dumb questions! Ronne, when does DD go back to school? When are you going to Spain? Hi Murphy! Well, DD, (who is a freshman) came home yesterday and announced a SENIOR had asked her to go to homecoming dance??? We were floored to be honest, such a big age difference and I would assume maturity level! We told her she could meet him at the dance, her dad about had a baby! I can't let my baby girl get in a car alone with this boy! Anyway, that was my excitement! Ha! I will talk to you all later, Mary

Mary, unflavored gelatin, I just let it dry in my hair, no shower cap. I got the idea from a segment on the today show. Hair celebrity to the stars and how to make hair products, made hair gel....using just water and gelatin, so I figured if they can leave it in their hair, I can too overnight. Boy, my mixture did keep my waves in formation, too much. guess mine was pretty strong mixture :)

Oh, your little girl is growing up!!!!!!! How exciting for her! My co-worker is telling me I don't understand about girls so I guess I don't know if I'd let her ride with him or not. My DS20 has hooked up with a 17 yr old. My co-worker is like ""does her parent's know?" uh, is that my responsibility? "hope she isn't keeping it from her parent's" again, that isn't my concern. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, she is senior in HS and valedictorian an 4.45 gpa. As long as she doesn't break his heart I'm ok with it. So what would you girl parents do? Would you let your senior date a college guy?

Hello

Mary - wow, not that I really understand all that. US school and all the terms are a bit confusing to a Brit! So I'm no help whatsoever! We're not going to Spain this year. My next trip is Budapest in October with BF.

Lisa - In my experience, girls always go for older men/boys so 17 and 20 sounds completely normal to me.
Do you do this hair thing on the nights DH isn't around?!! :p
Oh, and from the other day, it's 'spend a penny'!!

Roxie - I sometimes get numbness in my right foot when working out (it's bigger than my left, boring ...) but it's usually from doing the laces too tight, as Lisa said.

Jody - I walk down to the sea in my sandals and leave them at the water's edge. We all decided we preferred pebbly beaches to the sand ones on the other side of the island, as sand is so messy!!
Stick to your guns, you've made the right decision!

Did a KCM Circuit Burn premix today. Went to museum with DD this pm where they were doing bug handling! She held two scorpions, several stick insects and a praying mantis!! I didn't bother, it was for the kids, don't want the adults getting in the way, right? :p

Lisa-my DH is 2 years older then me so he was a freshman in collage when I was a junior. You might want to try the elliptical first to see if you like it some people have problems with coordination on them.

Ronne-I try not to tie my shoes to tight because I know at one time that was part of the problem.

I know, I don't get why my co-worker thinks it's such a big deal, 3 yrs difference, she claims it's different since one is in high school and the other in college. I think she's hung up on the fact she is under age at 17 and DS is a legal adult. It would be different to her if the girl was 18 and my DS was 21. Semantics, I guess.

Roxie, maybe the hotel in Niagara will have an elliptical and I should try it out...2 more weeks until MY vacation! But whose counting?

Oh, also, now no personal stuff on my work machine, so my posts will be limited :( And no reading of books on my machine at work, what will I do???? I'm so over this job. Maybe I'll have a better attitude after vacation

Good Evening,

My last PT session was tough we used some equipment we hadn't used before and then she told me to come up with some workout plans and text them to her and she will tell me if the are ok or if I need to add something or change something. I also did the TM before I came home for 30 mins.

Lisa, its hard for us flexible people to make plans for dominant people, but it takes all kinds, so that's good. My guy friend says the same thing, he wants someone else to make the plans once in a while, but the fact is, he prefers to be in charge most of the time. I personally hate the commitment of making anything but the loosest of plans.

Ronne, last bug fair I went to, I came home with a hissing cockroach as a pet. I'll never figure out how I managed to let that happen. So if you came home without a praying mantis or something, you are totally one up on me.

Mary, freshman (about 14) and sr(17/18) in high school seems a like a biggish gap at that stage, but you know your dtr and what would be appropriate for her. She's lucky to have parents who can set limits if needed. How did she feel about the decision? Maybe the young man is just a sweetie pie and a gentleman though.

Lisa, the high school senior and 21 yr old boy seem OK to me. I was 16 when I was dating a 21 year old. No regrets. In fact, high school boys in general don't seem all that appealing.

Roxie, thanks for the advice, I usually analyse everything to the nth degree before I let it go which makes it difficult to plan and commit (see post to Lisa, lol) I hope you had a good night at gym.

Today I did errands on my bike (post office, school, library and BarnesNoble) and this eve I did 3 k walk run, dance class and another 3 k jog. Sleepy, study for a bit then headed to bed. Gonna see the besties tomorrow for dance and chat.

Good Morning,

Thank God its Friday and a three day weekend even though everyday there is something going on. Tonite I will go to the gym and do the elliptical.

Jody-you did good hang in there and have fun studying.

Did GS Legs, whew! That's 2 hard leg w/o's this week!

Jody, I wouldn't say dominant, I'd say I'm Type A. I don't like being Type A, would like to be more mellow! It's work for me to mellow out! Here's a quiz I found, at least I wasn't to the extreme type a, just 255 score, what about everyone else? Personality type A/B

Mary, I see Jody's point of view re: HS freshman and HS senior, especially since they didn't really do anything together before? My oldest took his to Homecoming/prom, same age range, but they were "together" since she was in 8th grade, in the band together too.

Roxie, I'm happy for the 3day weekend even if I don't get paid for it. I'm seriously considering going to my boss and amending my work schedule. I can't keep this pace up, it isn't good for me. I will wait until after my vacation and after fall (maybe it's the heat bothering me), and see. Plus that would be after my contract renewal (don't really want them canning me, I just need to reduce hours overall and hours in the office).

Ronne, I never ended up with any weird pets, I think my kids didn't like bugs as much as I don't. And thankfully here in CO we don't have as many as they have in FL. UGH! Jody, keep your bugs! Oh, and I try to do some of these weird hair things when DH isn't here. But I don't let his presence stop me. He is even grossed out by the coconut oil I put in my hair. He doesn't get it, he is trying to take oil out and here I'm adding it!?!?!? My skin/hair is so dry, always has been, and then here in CO it's dry and I swear I'm gettign drier as I age. Then add in the hot,dry summer. I need OIL! lol

Gotta run, will check back later. DH and I are going out to lunch! WOOT!

Happy weekend! It's my last hurrah before going back to work! What am I whining about? I just like being home! Anyway, di my row and a Triset leg from meso 2. Lisa, my DH makes fun of all my hair purchases that "are going to make a difference"! They usually don't, but I keep trying! Jody, you were busy yesterday! Enjoy your dance tonight. Roxie, are you going boating this weekend? Murphy, you out there? Ronne, does DD go back to school next week? Well, DD is thrilled we are letting her go to the dance. Otherwise, she would hate us and sneak around. Not her nature, but I don't want to test it! I know when I was 17 my boyfriend was 23, it was fine. The boy has asked if we would feel better meeting him first, that does make me feel that he understands our position and h is ok with us taking her and picking her up. Of course because I am a big baby, I haven't told my folks how old the kid is yet! Just that she got asked! Why is it no matter how old we are, we worry about what are parents think of our decisions? Well, I have really rambled! Mohave a good Friday! We have football game tonite and cross country tomorrow, ttyl! Mary

Hey there

Jody - a hissing cockroach?!! The stuff of nightmares! Sounds like you got a good combined workout in yesterday.
I think I'm similar to your 'squeeze'. I would like someone to take charge for once, but then I have to interfere!!!

Lisa - I took your test and as I suspected I'm right in the middle!! 195. It's funny, I still feel a bit embarrassed to do things like that (face packs, hair stuff) in front of my DH, don't know why!! Have a nice lunch with DH.
By the way, your work sounds stinky! :(

Roxie - enjoy your long, busy weekend!

Well, there was no workout for me today. Had a first, did a day's shopping with DD, buying her clothes. We went for lunch, went in loads of shops, the whole thing. It was really nice. Got her a load of stuff, mainly for school (plus a top for me from Gap!). She's really pleased.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Mary-we are boating tomarrow for my birthday and Sunday is DD's baby shower and then plan on going boating again Monday. Its suppose to rain tomarrow so we shall see what happens.

Ronne-I loved going shopping with the girls, every year before school started my sister who has 2 girls would load everbody up and spend and entire day shopping sometimes we wouldn't get home until 12am so everyone was pretty tired but it was so much fun I really miss those days.

Lisa-I really need to look into another job the stress here is just getting to be to much, we are not real busy but the attitude around here is horrible. I have to use earned time to cover Monday but thats ok at least I don't have to be here.

Dancers came over for a luncheon hang out after school today which was nice.
An incident at school left me concerned about the future of my chosen profession.
Not sure about workout today-
Lisa, I'm a 173~
Roxie, happy bd weekend!! And baby shower weekend!
Ronne, shopping day sounded quite fun.
Mary, if he brings her home by a certain time, it doesn't seem like they could get into too much trouble. LOL, keep in mind I'm the type b permissive parent. I never made my kids wear shoes and let them climb whatever playground equipment they wanted, swim w/o waiting 30 min (lol). I used to think like The Frizz- take chances, get messy, make mistakes! (Magic School Bus reference, best kids show ever!)
vacation waves at Murphy

Hey girls! So far no w/o, I plan to do UB later and maybe abs.

Happy birthday Roxie! Hope the boating is good! If it's like here, no rain in sight. I hear ya about work and stress. I think I've decided to cut back to 30 hrs a week with only 2 days in the office a week and 1.5 days at working from home. Hope they go for it. I know they will go for the reduction in hours, not sure about the working from home part. I did discuss with my team lead (scared her, she thought that I was thinking of leaving), she is supportive, so after Niagara I will approach management. With my type a personality, having a formal schedule worked out works better than winging it like I've been doing.

Jody, so far you are the mellowest here. I'm not surprised. I really try to be mellow and unscheduled, just doesnt' work for me, it stresses me out more!

Ronne, I must say, the one thing I miss most about not have a DD is the shopping. Of course, having said that, I would have probably broke the bank buying stuff if I had a DD.

Mary, you will be busy, busy, busy with school activities now that the kids are into so much. Funny how we still crave our parents approval, even when older. I think it's healthy though to take what we want from each of our families when we marry and then create our own as a family unit.

Murphy, are you back from vacation soon?

I'll be back later, hopefully with a w/o to report

Lisa, I made it back before you! After much more procrastinating than I'd like to admit, I did LISLIC pm 5 (blast and bonus ~ 35 min) and later on did STS TB legs and core. I woke up at 4 am and have had a grudge all day!

Lisa, good luck w/ getting your sched changed, I like a shorter work week, even if it means longer days. Roxie, I hope your birthday weekend is off to a nice start. I agree, Mary is going to be busy with her kids in activities. Will it be same schedule most days? I know Wed will be my no workout day for the next 4 months- It will be a busy day. Ronne, shopping talk makes me want to go, but I'm the only one who likes it! Sometimes the dancers and I will go to a tea shop then hit the thrift stores. LOL, one time we went to costco together and ate samples!
