40's - Week of 6/3/12

Good Morning,

I finally got a decent nights sleep so I didn't want to get up this morning so tonite I will either go to Turbo Kick or do the elliptical.

Lisa-you have been dealing this long enough and its not helping yoshi if he has to suffer.

Did some ab work last night, 30 min. The dvd was sitting there and I was not doing anything productive. Today was 4DS BC. I always try to keep track of what number we are on but midway I am so focused on breathing that I just don't care and want it to be over. :) I may walk this afternoon if the weather holds up.

Okay, lots of posting was going on -
I have bifocals now that I need to use more. The eye doctor suggested I wait for bifocal contacts which is fine. I prefer my glasses. I agree with getting the cheap ones, I bought my bifocals at the $1 store. This way you don't feel bad if you lose them or (in my case) the little ones break them or etc.
I used to crochet and knit. I found it relaxing and miss it. Maybe when the girls are older and I can think and focus again.
I hope Ronne is having fun. Is it just me or does she travel a lot? Good for her.
Becky- I think the LIS is my favorite ovearll so far. I think you will like it.
Lisa - try not to feel too bad. Yoshi knows how you feel and that you are doing what you think is best. Talk to the vet and see what your options are.

Hi girls! Did one I had never done before, HSC, found it at the half price bookstore a while ago. Not too bad, looks like it was made for beginners, which was perfect for me today! Lisa, thinking of you. Hope you enjoy your hike, get rid of some of that tension. Roxie, congrats on the sleep! It's always a gift! Murphy, I tried the bifocal contacts once, still had to use reading glasses, so I just went to bifocal glasses! Hit to Becky, Jody, you too Ronne if you are lurking out there! We are leaving after school, have to go pack for all of us, they wanted to know what's for dinner! I hope they will be surprised! See you all on Saturday! Mary

Becky - has DH ever been stationed in NJ?

He wasn't stationed there, but we met in college at Rutgers. We married senior year ;) We were stationed in Boston, Alabama, Texas, New Mexico, Maryland, Italy, Idaho and now we live in central VA so that he can work in DC. But actually, the commute was killer, so he works from home and only occasionally makes the drive up.

Today, we took on Slide and Glide, which was fun once I got the hang of the disks (um, I mean, paper plates). I have all wood floors, so they slid really well, sometimes a bit too well, heh heh. Since today was supposed to be legs, we added in the TriSets lower body express workout, which, wow -- I'm going to be quite ouchy tomorrow. I'll never look at Dixie cups the same way again.

Lisa -- I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope things get better soon.

I've given up on contacts -- I'm on trifocals now and I could not get contacts to work at all. I think I have some weirdly shaped corneas too, which complicated things, but it all just became too much to deal with. And even with my tri's, it's sometimes just easier to take the glasses off altogether and read with reading glasses if I'm just going to be reading for long periods. I homeschool my kids, so this ends up happening quite a bit. I must have 5 pairs of reading glasses scattered about! This is one reason I like working out at home -- I can take the glasses off and still see pretty well, but at the gym, I'm too far from the instructor to see what she's doing without my specs.

I did disc 4 of x factor- 3rd time so I'm half way thru the 8 set. I put on RS/MIC/Imax Dvd for background/previewing today. So far I think the step part of MIC looks good and only 30 min.

Lisa, I'm sorry about yoshi and also sorry about your carpet. I showed someone the pic of Brownie right before we put her down. (My avatar pic). Since Brownie is smiling in the pic, she said it looked like Brownie was thanking me for taking care of her. I said it was prob more like the scene in Monty Python and Holy Grail where they bring out the not quite dead guy for the cart and he tries to convince them he's getting better. Monty Python Bring out Your Dead - YouTube Dang I miss her.

Mary, score on a Cathe dvd! Have a safe and fun trip!

Becky, its nice your hubby doesn't have to drive. ick. My girls are technically hs too but I'm just about done- both are dual enrolled at college. Managing the technicalities of high school have been harder than all the other stuff but maybe just because I'm busy working and going to school now and not a full time mom. I noticed a club step on craigslist for 40!

Roxie, I would probably chew my arm off if I only ate 1500 cal. Congrats on good night sleep, that helps all things.

Murphy 4DS Bc sounds tough, I haven't done it in awhile. I'm really attracted to 40 min or less workouts lately!

Becky-I have the same problem with my cornea and all this contact trying is making even more difficult and I have astigmatism so if this pair coming in don't work I am just going to do glasses. Slide & Glide is one I have alot of problems with but some day I will go back to my Cathe workouts and try that one again but I have one more month of personal training to do before I go back to home workouts.

Good Evening,

I went to the gym and did the elliptical and I have and ankle that is just not liking it I might have to switch cardio.

Jody-the bosses bought meatlovers pizza for lunch today so I had a salad for supper I think total cals was 1300.

I showed someone the pic of Brownie right before we put her down. (My avatar pic). Since Brownie is smiling in the pic, she said it looked like Brownie was thanking me for taking care of her.

Aw Jody, what a nice way to look at it. I had some therapeutic talks with my BFF on the hike (easy to do when you go 8.5 miles, 3150 ft elevation gain, all in 8.5 hourse). It helped to talk about it all. I really do believe this is best for Yoshi she totally missed all her pee pads and litter box in the basement bedroom (thankfully did it on some old foam egg crate pad that is supposed to be there for her comfort). She's really limping bad on her walk. We are doing it for her as our one final act of love. I hope the vet listens to DH and I thank DH for handling it.

I'm beat, going to crash (I mean sleep). I wonder if I'll be able to move tomorrow :) Man I need to have you all come out here to enjoy my state, I just love it! Hugs all!

Today I did the weight portion of 4DS LIS. My body is so tireddd from all this activity. I have been walking at lunch a lot and I feel like I am doing two workouts a day. Yesterday afternoon I did stair work instead of going outside and my lower body is done.

Lisa - big hugs to you.

Murphy

Good Morning,

I got up this morning and went to spin class and for the first time it was nice and quiet no chatty cathys today. Tonite is another session with PT wonder what torture she has in store for me.

Lisa-hugs

Murphy-good job with all your activity.

Hi all, of course a rest day for me! My right knee was really hurting last night and my toes(from going downhill) so I slept pretty restless. today my thighs are sore and calves a bit too. It's a good hurt.

Becky, I tried contacts for monovision, I couldn't get used to it, so have the multiple reading glasses but it seems I still never find them sometimes. It's been a tough transition for me since I had perfect vision on my life, sigh.

Murphy, wowsers, way to go on your workouts/walks. When you do stairs how many levels do you do? Or do you go for so much time?

Roxie, I function best on 1800-2200 calories depending on activity level. It's so hard for me to cut back on food, kudos to you. Sounds like you are getting your money's worth with the PT.

Jody, that was fast shipping, enjoy!

Woke up achy with a stuffy head and a cold today, so I took it easy and did an hour of Yin Yoga. Now I feel looser and less achy, ready to rejoin the world of the living again!

Lisa -- maybe I don't mind the glasses and reading glasses combo so much because I've had terrible vision most of my life. I started wearing glasses at 7, probably needed them at 5. It's frustrating though. I hope you find a usable solution soon!

Good Evening,

Personal Trainer was brutal again tonite really hate leaping like a frog. My head hurts and my knees ache not a good night. I forgot to mention my wt is down 1/2lb from last week and I have lost 2% bf so it was a good week.

Becky-hope you feel better tomarrow.

Lisa-how are the legs?

Today was the last of the 4DS. As much as I love it, I feel like I have been doing it a lot so it will be good to put it on the bottom of the pile.

Roxie - glad to hear things are going well w/ the trainer.
Becky - feel better soon.

Murphy, what rotation were you doing? So many good workouts, so little time.
Roxie, how do you measure your body fat? I have a scale but I know there are different ways and various levels of accuracy.
Lisa, have you recovered from hike? dh taking yoshi today? My other corgi (brownie's litter mate) has kidney disease and is showing signs of problems with her legs/feet. : ( I would love to visit your state. I lived in OK for awhile, but never ventured to CO.
Becky, how's the cold today?

Today is x factor disc 5. I sort of enjoyed planning my dance class last night. I think I need to plan it without music, choose skills and combos and then choose music. I tend to let music drive the choices and it gets overwhelming. Actually, I could apply that philosophy to my whole life. Figure out what needs to be done and make it happen rather than dance and respond to the circumstances around me. Wow, quite the personal bit of enlightenment this morning. I'll take it as a sign from Higher Up and see what I get done today. : )

Taking another day off.

Roxie, you are making a lot of progress with PT. Legs were bad last night but surprisingly not too bad this morning. I couldn't do lunges or anything though :)

Becky, hope you feel better. I felt sick yesterday too. That's how I get when out in the pollen too long, swollen glands, etc.

Jody, yes, today is the day and yoshi is being extra cute and snuggly. I know in the long run it's the best thing(especially because we know how the story ends whether today or 3 months from today), but I'm so torn. They say it's time when the bad days out number the good days, not exactly sure where we are in that. I've never had an animal get this old with just mainly old age arthritis and blind and potential dementia (drs can't prove this so they pretend it isn't there).

Good Morning,

I woke up at 1:30 and couldn't go back to sleep tossed and turned couldn't get comfortable so it is going to be a long day. I will go to the gym tonite and do the elliptical or maybe a recumbent bike so I can sit and workout (lol).

Lisa-thinking of you today. Yoshi is thanking you today for helping her not be miserable anymore but I know it still hurts.

Jody-the gym has and electronic scale I stand on.

Murphy-thank you and good job with your workout.

Yoshi's gone :( DH said this vet was much better and understanding. Acknowledged her dementia too and of course her arthritis. They took her to get an IV and DH said he heard yowling. Vet came back and said she would not let them get it in her front legs and had to use a back leg. We think it's because it was her front legs that had the worse arthritis. DH said he broke down, I think it was harder for him than he realized it would be.
