40's week of 10/30/11

Good Aftenoon,

Tonite for me is LIS Step Challenge premix #1 don't want to do any wts. The boss lady is joining a gym so I am just walking with my daughter when she gets back from her business trip.

Lisa-I would love to be able to work from home.

Mary-the weather here is better today suppose to be in the 50's.

nothing to report workout wise, but thought I would check in to say hi. I knew Wed/Thurs would be unlikely. Plus I woke up at 4 when my dd night owl wandered upstairs to bed and I stayed up since I usually get up at 5.

Lisa, hate to waste a good hair day, but not so much that I'd go to work if I could stay home, so I agree w/ your choice. Degrees in the teens? brrr.

I am happy to hear about the LIS workout details.

Exam tomorrow, think it will go ok, certainly better than the last one.

Mary, we had busy start to the week b/c of Halloween (I drove over 100 miles in one day just from back and forths, so kids skipped activities today. : )

niters

Oh and Ronne (or Mary?) asked why I am in school...its a longish story but it started out just to get some sciences to be qualified to take an exam but then I had nearly enough credits to get an AA, which may be of no use to me, but regardless, I was only about 3 classes away anyway from AA once I was done w/ my sciences and maths. Additionally, I now I work there as SI which is sort of a tutor and assistant to a professor in prep math and chem. Plus my kids are dual enrolled high school students there.

Good Evening,

Was suppose to do Low Impact Challenge and I couldn't figure out the moves so I did LIS the original instead. I hope to one day be able to do this one.

Hi,
Can I be part of your group? I'm doing the November rotation. Sometimes I don't have as much time as needed to finish an entire workout. Trying to get up earlier so I can have more time to workout.

I have also had problems with some of the dvd's pausing during my workouts. One time I had to start the workout over and forward up to the part it had stopped. I was really bummed. I can't remember which dvd it was. I did Total Body Trisets lower body this am and it also paused but then continued.

Hi all

Lisa - moan away all you like! I'd be pee'd off as well if everyone's slacking off. So, the hair is still going well, then?

Roxie - good news on not having to walk with boss? I've seen a few other comments about the choreography on that DVD so sounds like it's tough.

Jody - GOOD LUCK!!! Hope it all goes well. Sounds like a good combination work and study in the same place.

Mary - just found out that someone's got their DVDs in the UK!! Not fair, still waiting

Welcome Workout4life - nice to meet you!

Well, no workout for me today. Just got too much work - I was going to do some yoga but I've got to work through. We've got friends coming round for dinner tonight so once I've finished work I've got the house to sort out!
Bonfire night this weekend - we're going to a display at the school and then having our own on Sunday. DD and I are baking for it on Sunday. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Good Morning,

Tonite for me is Tris Sets Lower Body I previewed it last night looks doable no problems with freezing. I am enjoying being able to sleep in but I suppose with DD back in town that will stop. Need to do some abs tonite to just not feeling like my core is getting much work.

Ronne-keeping my fingers crossed you get your workouts today.

workout4life-welcome to the group, care to share some background. I am 46 with 2 DD's and a son-in-law.

Hi girls! Did Athletic Training today, felt harder than it did the first time. Maybe I need a rest day? Lisa, don't apologize about work! If I got started, well there wouldn't be enough room! Roxie, when does DD come back? I think you will like the leg w/o, it goes fast! Ronne, have fun! No bonfires here! And glad to hear work has picked up for you. Jody, do kids get to go to school for free? I know we work at local community colleges and it is a benefit for the full time faculty. I am only adjunct tho! Murphy, what are you up to? Welcome workout4life! Not quite sure what we will be up to this weekend, DH finally has the whole weekend off! It will be so nice to spend some time with him! Talk to you later, Mary

Happy Friday everyone! I did STS Meso2 back/bi.

Mary, I think it was my power of suggestion having you think Ath Train was hard because I said I thought it was! In looking at the calendar, only 2 more weeks until T-giving week and then a couple days after that, I go to FL, I can make it at work (hopefully).

Roxie, will be trying Low Impact Challenge, I'm normally not that slow at picking up the choreography (though others are faster than me), I hope I'm not disappointed! I have switched fully into winter attire, I resisted as long as I could. For 2 days after our snowstorm there still is a lot on the ground still, I think winter has set in.

Ronne, good hair day again today I think I'm finally learning what my hair needs to be at it's best curliness. It's a delicate balance of moisture especially in dry Colorado. Can't wait to see what it does in FL, although the heat down there is not worth any type of good hair day, thankfully Dec should be nice down there.

Murphy, what Cathe madness have you been in?

Jody, good luck on your exam! Just think, all the activity your brain is getting no alzheimers in your future! lol

Workout4life, welcome to the group. I have had freezing issues, my word of advice, complain to cust serv sooner than later. I had major problems with my last batch of dvds (intensity, high reps, sts TB), I finally got fed up and emailed cust serv, well, first they said they were guaranteed for life, then they said it was outside the 90 day. I think I've given up with them. Thankfully I have the downloads that I can do even though those don't hvae premixes (will have to spend time making the premixes up in workout blender). the only dvd I've had an issue with this time is Turbo Bar and I don't like that one anyway. I havne't done the yoga ones (nor do I plan to). I'm 47, in Colorado, 2 grown boys (19 and 22), 19 is in college and the 22 is getting married in May.

So I have a question for the group. I'd like to bring some workouts to do with my sis in FL. She says she has a hard time following DVDs, but I'd like to do some with her. What do you all suggest? let's assume there is no step for the 2 of us, limited or no weights. Ideas?

Mary, I don't know if faculty get those types of advantages, but I am so low on the pecking order they definitely don't trickle down to me. They do attend through Dual/Early Enrollment though, so I only pay for books, which are free for public school but we my girls are homeschooled, but we are very grateful for the opportunity. It has been a good experience for them.

I previewed trisets while studying, it pixelated once during lowerbody, but I moved it back and it didn't repeat, then, this morning I was running upper body and the laptop shut down quite unexpected when Cathe shifted to the 3rd round, so I will watch that again on a real dvd player since there are two potential trouble spots. Lisa, maybe better luck w/ collage video customer service next time you want DVDS? I have downloads that don't work right, and I like the premixes built in w/ DVDs so I would have a hard time getting OK w/ DVDs that don't work.

Maybe preorders aren't such a good idea since there seems to be more opportunity for bugs with first issue. I remember when the BG, LIC, BC/sash series came out, they reshipped a whole batch of DVDs.

Gorgeous day, low 80s, I better do a run outside. Test seemed to go OK this morn but I would have liked more time to check answers and finish a problem.

Welcome W/O4L : )

I'm 48 well almost 49, my birthday is in December. I'm married and have two boys 13 and 16. I graduated in June from a local community college and I am now a DTR (Dietetic Technician Registered). I am back in school at the same Community college trying to take more science and courses to transfer to a 4 yr. college to be a Registered Dietitian. I have a BS degree from Florida State but it was so long ago that I've had to retake all the math and science courses. I'm getting burned out and not sure I'm going to finish but for now I'm taking Chemistry, English and Accounting. I live near Dayton, OH and it's actually a beautiful sunny day here today. Well, that's me in a nutshell.

I'm back! Lisa, I was thinking about your trip. You could take Travel Fit, HIIT, Turbo Barre, some yoga. (all your favorites!). You could also take LIS, just use frisbees? If it isn't humid your hair will be amazing! Also, when you do the new step w/o the choreography is super simple in the number 5 premix. Jody, have you always homeschooled? I don't think I would have the patience for that. I am in awe. Workout 4 life, well, I am 47 (Lisa is a whole month older than me!). I live in Ohio also, except up north, by Cleveland. I am married to a firefighter, have 3 kids, 13 yr. old twins and a 10 yr old. I work as a nursing instructor at a community college. Well, need to get dinner! Have a good night! Mary

Lisa is a whole month older than me

Rub it in Mary! Finally someone older than me is here (although maybe Jody is older than me, I can't remember, because I'm old) haha

I thought about doing travel fit because I've never done it (and I have extra bands). HIIT would be too much for my sis. And I think I'll take the new series, but I have to plan what we could do in it. Maybe just the cardio portions of the Low Impact series(the ones that don't require a step--I can't remember which ones those are---are you sensing a theme here?), and yeah, YOGA or Turbo Bar my least favs. Also thought about the MMA KB, boxing, or fusion.

RE: Ohio, I had/have family in the Dayton area I think (they were around there last I heard). I've been to cleveland, or maybe it was columbus, anyway near where Longaberger is. Was a Longaberger nut for several years and in 1999 or so my Mom and Sis went to tour the factory.

Hey Mary, My cousin is a fairly recent LPN (about 2 yrs ago?) and lives in Akron Barberton area. Any chance she would have been one of your students? Yes, always homeschooled. We like the flexibility. (Insert redneck accent, "Yep, me n Bubba jest larn 'em at home.") I will be happy to have grads tho.

Lisa, I was thinking kickboxing too. Yes, I am older than Lisa but a few months younger than W/O4LIFE, so she has to stay so I am not the oldest.

So there are 3 of us w/ FL connections? 3 of us w/ OH connections?

W/O there are a lot of gone back to schoolers at my college who had to retake stuff for nursing- AP, chem, etc; if previous was more than 7 years old, so you are not alone.

Crazy weekend coming up.

Jody, I went to Akron U! I only have done RN classes. It is a small world tho! Twins went to skate night, youngest is making me watch Gnomeo and Juliet...again!

Good Evening,

Tonite I did Tri Sets Lower Body and my legs are shaking I really hate Dixie Cups but I really liked this workout. You guys might be older but I think I have the oldest children of the group.

Workout4Life-I live in Kansas it has been cold here which is nothing new for us in the winter.

Mary-I was a CMA but it expired I took nursing classes but just didn't have what it took to finish school.

I did STS Meso 2 Ch/SH/Tri --- I just love the weight lifting in this series!

Talked to my sis in FL this morning. Planning my trip there and her trip here next yr. She and her DH are big bikers but it brought a smile to my face when I asked if I could use some of her bike shorts when I'm in FL (I don't really have any as you know I don't love the bike). She said she thought she had some old mediums from when she was smaller since I'm smaller than her, I said I doubt I'm smaller and she said she is sure I am as she is in a large, then we got to talking about the bike "skin" she gave me for when I do spin and I told her that one fit fine and she said, oh then you are way smaller than me because those were SMALLs! :) Now if I can just keep up with her in the bike, I just may surprise myself. Gonna have to put Cycle Max into my workouts more and you know what, I like that one!

I had a rest day yesterday but did tri-sets upper body. It was good, I think I can go heavier next time. Tomorrow I plan to do athletic training. I don't like the step but I will give it a go. I did not care for the low impact challenge - except for the ending portion. But then again, I am not a fan of step workouts.

Ronne - you clocks already changed right? A few days ago? Does that mean it is really next week over there? :)

Lisa - what about slide and glide and afterburn. They don't need any major equipment do they? What about 4DS? The kickbox and bootcamp portions.

Workout4Life - welcome aboard. I am 42, live in NJ and am married with a 3 1/2 and 6 1/2 year old. Yes, I have a long way to go...

Murphy
