40s week 3/29/10

Hi everyone! Quick hello, just finished MMA KB, needed something mindless. Murphy, I hope you feel better soon, that is miserable. You don't need me to tell you that! I am sending you well wishes. Lisa, you have been quite the shopper, I am jealous! Kathryn, our taxes are done, just have to write the checks! Ronne, 70 here today, I hope it warms up for you soon! Sorry so quick, those darn children are here! Talk to you tomorrow! Mary

Hello

Murphy - you poor thing! That sounds terrible (altho' the ginger ale thing is quite funny!) Take it easy, and don't push to get working out before you're ready.

Lisa - sounds horrible but at least it's all done with now. I'm not surprised your head hurt. Well done on the money-saving! ;)
Yes and you'd all be very welcome to stay with me for the Cathe European RT!

Kathryn - oh yes, just the small matter of handing the money over, the even more painful part.

Mary - it sounds like you haven't had a moment to yourself!

Today I did Double Wave Pyramid for the first time. I'm a bit short on time today as DD only has a half day. I think I'm already noticing the difference that this series has made to my stamina and cardio ability. It was tough but I didn't need to take any extra breaks or finish early.

I may not make it back tomorrow as we've got a four day weekend for Easter. Hope everyone has a nice time whatever they're doing.

Good morning!

Just back from the dentist (ugh), so I'm late today. I also overslept, so I only had time to squeeze in Powerstrike 5 before getting DD out the door for school.

Lisa, I hope you're feeling better today. I saw your post on FB -- I'm very worried that you're down and out. :( Try renting a comedy and watching that... maybe it will cheer you up.

Ronne, I hate handing over the money! Because we're self-employed, I actually write checks to the government all year long. Most people have it deducted, so they never actually have the money, but I have to hand it over. Very painful.

Speaking of money, I have a confession to make: I accidentally overpaid the phone bill -- by over $8,000! I don't know how I did it (I use online banking). I just can't imagine what sort of distraction or senior moment made me put in $8570.43 instead of $168.15! And I didn't notice it, so we're seriously depleted... :( I called the phone company and they told me that can't start the refund process until it's been in my account for over 30 days! Unbelievable! I haven't told DH -- I'm afraid of what he'll say. So now I have the stress of making do until the refund check arrives... or one of our clients pay us. Misery.

Sometimes I think my brain is getting to be like Swiss cheese... full of holes!

Well, I'd better get to work, because DS has a half-day, and no school tomorrow.

Hi ladies, today I did PUB and then since work is so slow and I need a low impact (for my head gash) pick me up I did the heavy bag workout.

Kathryn, I went to the dentist yesterday for my cleaning, you're right, ugh! At least no bad news thankfully I have few problems in the dental area. OMG, I can't believe you overpaid by that much.....I don't know why it seems the older I get the more I can't do it all and I forget so much. YOu know it's got to be those darn hormones! I am a bit down and yesterday was tough because there was nothing to keep my occupied with. Work is slow and boring yet I have to "sit" here, my head hurts so can't exercise (from gash and I had a major headache), I couldn't shower/wash my hair very good, felt grubby. It will take a while for my heart to catch up to my brain in accepting my loss, just like it took a bit of time for my brain to catch up to my gut with accepting it was time to let Maddy go. Even DH has said that losing Maddy was harder than losing his father. Losing Maddy is definitely harder for me than losing my FIL, and I'm hoping it's not as hard as losing my Mom and Dad (within 2 mths of each other), but I see/feel so many parallels. I even read the poems my brother wrote when Mom died and the words can equate to what I'm feeling with Maddy. Amazing how a furry little dog can make such an impact in one's life.

Hope everyone else has a good weekend and Easter. I'm looking forward to seeing my Sis-in-law and having my boys with me....I just hope I don't break down if anyone brings up Maddy, she was, afterall the girl I never had. :)

Well, I am feeling better. Of course this is the time that DH dismantles the tv for the new entertainment center that is taking forever to put together. Well actually, it is put together except for a drawer that really just needs to be glued but he thinks it should not have to be glued b/c it shoud fit properly. I am trying not to be the, "just fix it already!" wife. Wish me luck. The other tv's are in guest rooms and there is no room to workout. I may give the travel fit a go but seriously, how long can I do that?

Kathryn - Funny that you mentioned the pediatrician. I thought about sipping the water while I was dry heaving. It did help.

Gross comment No.2 - did I mention that if you dry heave enough you will bring something up - no liquid, just pieces of food. Yeah, good memories. :-0

Murphy

Hi everyone! Today was LIC, haven't done that one in eons! Murphy, glad to hear you are on the mend. I just love it when my DH has to fix or put something together, usually it becomes my project too! Kathryn, so sorry for your distraction! Someday you will be able to laugh over it! Have you told DH yet? Lisa, I have been thinking about you, I hope that it gets easier for you. Your whole routine has changed, it is a big change. Ronne, did you like double wave pyramid? At least they are quick and painful! If I don't get back tomorrow, (have to work, color eggs, get Easter outfits, w/o, and who knows what else!) I hope that you all have a blessed Easter. Mary

Probably no one will be around today, but for the record I did Low Max in it's entirety today. Slowly my head is feeling better, it was sore a good 2" in diameter from where they cut out the spots. Felt like a big bruised head. Seems to me it felt this bad a couple yrs ago when they took out some on my temple, good thing we forget how bad things hurt otherwise we would never do them again.....kind of like childbirth.

Happy Friday, everybody! I'm here, Lisa. I did AOS Santa Monica today. (Kettlebells) That workout is just so tough! Kettlebells are tough in a way that is hard to describe, but you really feel it. (DH took the day off).

No, I didn't tell him about the phone bill. We're getting along too well -- I don't want to spoil it! ;)

Lisa, I like LowMax, although I wear a weighted vest for the blasts or intervals or whatever they're called. I haven't done it in a while, though. That's not on DH's list of approved (meaning: he can do them) workouts!

I'm glad your head is feeling better. Your experience makes me think that I need to be more careful about DD's head, since she has very fine hair (with a middle part) and she's already got a darker spot in her part from getting too much sun. If you don't mind, I'll tell her about what happened to you in hopes that I can get her to wear a hat more often.

Murphy, I'm glad you're feeling better! I hope it didn't take too much out of you. If I had to choose stomach vs. respiratory illness, I think I'd take stomach because I have a hard time recovering from respiratory (usually end up with some sort of awful infection).

Ronne, what is Double Wave Pyramid? Sounds tough!

Speaking of tough, I haven't started Insanity yet. I need to preview at least one disk, just to get over my fear of the unknown. Maybe I can get DH to join me. He's gained quite a bit around the middle over the winter.

Mary, in case you check in, have a Happy Easter. I'm going to have to start coloring eggs tomorrow... something the kids enjoy quite a bit. Now if I can only keep my eggs from cracking when I boil them! I always have a few casualties in each dozen.

Okay, back to work. DH is taking the afternoon off to play golf, but I've got DS home today... his Spring Break started a day early (for Good Friday -- he's in private school).

Have a great weekend, everybody! I'll "see" you next week!

Kathryn, my legs burn enough on the blasts with no weighted vest. You are an animal! Did I see you do IMAX2 with 2 risers too?

I agree, I'll take stomach over respiratory....at least stomach, if you survive it's over pretty quickly, those respiratory things just drag on and on and on.

Yes, I did IMAX 2 with two risers recently... I didn't mean to, but was half asleep when I set up and used my usual two risers (for regular step). I was moving along through the warm-up when I thought, "Gee, this is harder than I remembered!" Then I figured out why. I thought I'd see how long I could survive with two risers and made it all the way to the end.

But some days, I don't have so much energy. That's when I grab Powerstrike 5, because it's low impact and only about 50 minutes! That's my go-to "easy" workout. And for weights, I do Push/Pull, because it's only 45 minutes and time seems to fly by.

Lisa, I've worked out for my entire adult life, but never as hard as I do now. That's because I'm desperately fighting off the bulge, flab, and middle-age spread that is determined to make me look like my mother !

It really is a losing battle, like raking water.... but I try to keep the damage to a minimum. My poor sister (the one I'm close to) let herself go in her early 20s and now she's over 200 lbs (by my mother's estimation). I've been nagging her for years to get it under control before she hit 40 (she's 6 years younger), but she hasn't done so.

My other sister, is maybe 95 lbs and naturally busty. You can see her photo in my FB album. She complains about her flat rear and skinny thighs (oh, you poor thing!)... mostly to annoy me, I suspect. (Jellyfish!)

Another sort of good thing about stomach ailments: You lose a little bit of weight with them (did I just say that?)... and then you eat very carefully afterward. A GI ailment swept through our family a few years ago -- right before we went on a cruise. I was halfway through the trip before I was able to really enjoy the food!
