Happy Monday...or not :) I could have used a longer weekend for sure. Sat, I did the PP UB portion only and MM upper body only and abs. Yes, I bought bootcamp and PP. PP had good chapter points for the workout blender but somehow it didn't include the bicep section even though it should have. Not sure I'm a lover of the workout blender yet. I've converted ME and pulled out the UB portions, will give it a go this week sometime. Sunday I did STS KB, and then today, Monday, I ran 5 miles.

Did everyone have a good Halloween? I didn't buy any candy so obviously didn't hand any out. I haven't had candy in eons yet I still can't lose anything, sigh. It is what it is, I guess :)

Hi everyone! Did the bike this morning and the leg work from PLB, Fri., I did GS legs, sat., I did Travel Fit, yesterday just a Leslie DVD. Lisa, you impress me with your blending abilities! I went to my Gyn today, had to have some thyroid and menopause labs drawn. If I am not in menopause, I have to have a endometrial biopsy done, if that comes back normal, then on progesterone to start my periods back up. Oh no! I told her I am completely happy not having one! Lisa, did you ever get your lab work back? Ronne, hope you are having fun! Murphy, did the kids have fun trick or treating? Mine came back with a huge haul! Have a good day! Mary

Mary, still no call about my test results. I called them and left a vmsg. I took a 1 1/2 nap on Saturday after sleeping 8.5 hrs fri night, then slept another 10 hrs on saturday night, no nap on sunday although I almost fell asleep at 6. And that's after sleeping about 7.5 hrs each night through the week. sure seems like a lot of sleep to me.

Why would you HAVE to start up your cycles again? I used to take progesterone to try to help the heavy bleeding, didn't work very well, that's why I had that procedure done a few yrs ago. I had to have an endometrial biopsy before my procedure to make sure there was no uterine cancer since a sign of that is heavy bleeding. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't pleasant either.

Do they measure FSH or something to figure out if you are in meno? When did your Mom (sisters?) go through it? My Mom I don't knwo because she had hysterectomy, my sis was about 52-53. My dr said she would do the thyroid first and then based on that test hormones (whatever that means). I certainly won't push to get my cycle back, just my energy :)

Lisa, that really doesn't sound like that much sleep, you have a high pressure job, 2 kids in college, taking care of a house, husband, working out, you probably have a lot of stuff going on in your life! My doc said if I am not in menopause, you need to have a period to get rid of the uterine lining otherwise it builds up and can cause cancer, believe me, I was not happy about the prospect of having a period ON PURPOSE! Iam an only child and my mom had a hysteria also, so I have no idea when to really expect it. She did say if I am getting hot flashes, I probably in menopause, so now just waiting. Almost sounds like we are in the same boat! Mary

Hi ladies

It sounds like you're both going through similar things. I don't even want to think about that stuff yet. I hope you get some news from the doctor soon, Lisa.

Mary - you're really packing those workouts in!

I've decided to start the November rotation so did 40/20 and W&P Abs today. I found it all really tough. I've had two nights sleeping on the floor on a camp bed over the weekend so I'm blaming that. We didn't get back till 8.30 last night after having a puncture 5mins from home. Spent the day trying to catch up with work. Feeling under pressure, will be back to chat more tomorrow!

Hiya! No call back yet...boy I must be a mess! just kidding. No workout, I didn't sleep well so chose to sleep in instead, wise choice!

Ronne, what's a puncture?

Mary, I think the job is the center of my problems, but it's nice money and I better earn it while I can. My eyesight is really getting bad, I'm going to try a contact for reading in one eye leaving the other for distance vision which is fine....it's called monovision....hope it works for me. It doesn't help sitting in front of a computer all day! That makes sense about the uterine lining. I don't have much of one with the procedure I had done (only a couple spots probably wasn't burned off enough and that is where I get my light bleeding when I do have a cyle).

Gotta run....a busy work day and I'm having issues concentrating because everything is blurry on the screen. Have I said I do not like this reading glasses thing?

Hi girls! Ronne, glad to see you back. Camping? You are a brave soul! I love a bed and toilets! Also cable tv! Sorry to hear about your tire. Lisa, I tried the mono vision thing, frustrated because I needed the reading glasses still, so I went back to regular glasses. Murphy, where are you? Today will be upper body of some sort, I need to go and get my work out in, had a late lunch, so I am procrastinating! Kids off school today, have a good night, talk to you all tomorrow. Mary

Here I am. I forgot how tired STS can make you but I have been making an effort to get the kids to bed earlier and that has allowed me to get a bit more sleep. Speaking of sleep, I felt a cold coming so this time I was proactive and took the day off (any reason for a day off!) I must admit that I feel better.

Regarding trick or treating. My little ones behaved so badly that entire weekend that we did not go trick or treating. I felt bad about it at first but then I stopped - they were really bad and did not deserve to go. These feelings were replaced with annoyance because once the neighborhood kids came to trick or treat, my kids got excited to see there friends and hand out candy. They did not seem to miss the trick or treating. Plus, not many kids were out so we have a bunch of candy left.

I hope everyone gets positive news from the doctors!

Murphy

Happy Hump day everyone....can you believe it's ONLY Wednesday? I woke up at 3am, I think hormones are at work. I'm less than a week from my monthly visitor and this is normally the time I would have sleeping issues. I haven't had them in a while, so maybe that means I'll get my visitor this month. who knows. Still no call back from dr office and I'm getting a bit ticked. I am trying out the monovision. I actually managed to get the contact in my eye. DH kept saying, don't blink, uh, but excuse me if I get something in my eye, my eye's natural response is to blink. Anyway, now trying to get used to the adjustment, I hope my brain can do it. Right now everything is blurry but I can read pretty well (well, much better than before). Since i woke up early, and after seeing that Yoshi took off her bandages and shirt and licked herself raw, I needed a pick me up workout, so picked TF Fire 60. At the end Chalene said, now haven't you forgotten what you were worrying about 1 hr ago? Uh, no, I remember....that cat! my eyes! the fact I was up too early! I know, whine, whine, whine.

Murphy, I think age and LIFE makes you tired!

Mary, any word from your dr? I got my pap results back, the one thing I wasn't interested in or worried about.

Ronne, I gave up camping long ago. Now I demand a hotel room :)

Hi everyone

Late post from me today, one of those days yet again. ;)

Murph - well done for sticking to your guns at the weekend! And give yourself a pat on the back for taking a rest before getting ill again. That is really sensible!

Lisa - whine away, you've got loads of sympathy here! By the way, a puncture is a burst tyre.
So, you have one contact lens in one eye, for reading. And then you have nothing for everyday, or you wear a different kind of glasses for everyday?

Mary - do anything nice with the kids on their day off?

Today I did PUB (minus the abs). It was one of those days when you're glad to work at home. I was a bit pushed for time, so worked out and went straight into a conference call (phone only), it was a good thing no-one could smell or see me!

Must share something I know you'll all appreciate. A couple of days ago, I was in the kitchen with DD and she gave me a push in the stomach (we were messing about) and then said 'Mum, your stomach's hard!'. It's the little things that bring you joy :)!

See you tomorrow!

Hi everyone! Today was intervals on the bike, yesterday I did GS C&T, thought I would be sore today, but no! Lisa, hope sleep finds you tonite, I have been sleeping better with the cold weather. Only 28 this morning! Ronne, see just the truth comes out of little one's mouths! Murphy, funny about your kids! Have a good night all! Mary

Oh glorious sleep!!!! Since I slept in a bit, I was a bit short on w/o time, so I did 4DS LIS cardio only. My obliques and lower back was a bit creaky from TF yesterday so my original plan of ME upper and TF core just didn't seem like something my body wanted to do. And I didn't want lots of jumping and exertion either, so 4DS LIS cardio fit the bill and felt good, especially because I really wanted to bag the whole w/o but glad I did something!

Mary, we have had an unusually warm fall, we are spoiled. Temps in mid-60s to mid-70s. How are you doing your intervals on the bike? Just with a timer and music or is there some w/o you do?

Murphy, kudos to you for taking the harder road and parenting the kids and teaching them life's valuable lessons. More need to do that

Ronne, wtg on the abs! I bet that felt good! Take the compliments where you can! As far as the eyes, yes one contact in the non-dominant eye at the strength I need for reading, and since my distance vision is fine, then nothing in the dominant eye. The brain is supposed to learn which eye to use. Had a bit of blurry distance vision yesterday which was a bit irritating, hoping I'm adjusting because it's not bothering me as much although I don't thing with this approach you ever have that spectacular vison you get when using both eyes for the task at hand. In fact, the ban pilots from having the monovision technique when flying planes. I surely can't read the street signs as easily as before, but the plus is, I don't have to grab my reading glasses to read everything. I was able to set my monitor at work with a bit smaller font and so far no headaches. Keeping my fingers crossed. As I was driving in, it's a bit like going through life with it just out of focus a bit. It doesn't bother me that the reading part is a bit out of focus since it's been SOOOOO out of focus before, but the distance is bothering a bit. Stay tuned. I loved your story about working out and being able to take a work call and glad no one could see or smell you :)

Hey, the dr office just finally called. Thyroid is all ok so they said I could go to an endocrinologist but I think I'll just chalk it up to work. Mary was right. I drove home at 4:00 yesterday instead of 4:15, and the traffic was sooo much better, so no matter what I'm leaving at 4 from now on! I don't care if I haven't worked a whole 8 hrs and I don't need the money for that extra 15 mins!

I forgot to ask about if I need to be concerned with no period, but I did get the impression it was fine (they actually cheered). and who knows, with how I'm feeling I may have one this month.

I tell you stress is BAD! I do feel it with coming into the office (but not like I did when I was actually an IBM employee). I have a bit of high bp now, weight gain (think cortisol), tiredness, and the granulomas annulare have started coming back out on my elbows (those are a non cancerous skin thing and the dermatolgist had told me that some people just get them---they even biopsied to be sure).

So, don't know if it's good news or bad news, but it's news :)

Hi girls! today was GS BSB, my shoulders were burning! Lisa, good news about your thyroid, you have a lot going on, it is hard on your body. I haven't heard anything about my labs yet. There were signs all over the office, to not expect any lab results until 3 weeks after they are done, so I guess I have to wait 2 1/2 more weeks! I do my intervals on the bike to the HIIT dvd, I do better with visuals than sound. I am sweating and breathing hard when I do it! Murphy, how are you? Ronne, what kind of work do you do? I would be terrible working at home, I know I would always find something better to do!
Well, I need to get to homework and cleaning! have a good night. mary

can I join?

Hi all, I was wanting to join this check in if you all don't mind! I am also in my 40's, 43 to be exact. Have been working out with Cathe for 10+ years. Just recently hired an online trainer to help me straighten out my eating and training. Still using Cathe and Insanity and running for cardio.
Hope to get to know you all!
Wendy

Hi everyone

Just never made it back here yesterday. You know what it's like!

Lisa - good news I guess on the results. Stress has all kind of effects on the body and at least you can try to do something about it rather than it being a physical thing. I've been very quiet work wise over the past few months and then in the past week or two it's got really busy again, and guess what, I'm waking up earlier! And that's nothing compared to your drinving to work, the stress there, the worry about your cat, etc. etc. Perhaps your physical response is to need to sleep more!

Mary - I'm a freelance editor. I work on school text books.
I like the idea of sitting on the bike watching Hiit. Not saying that you're not working hard but that's a great idea.

Wendy - welcome on board. You're more than welcome to join us. It'll be nice to get to know you. I'm 44 and live in the UK.

OK, better get back to work. It's Bonfire Night tonight so we're going down to the school firework display. Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi ladies! Today I did Step Blast, I didn't sleep well again and it was tough going, but I did it.

Welcome Wendy, I'm the oldest here (boo hoo) 46, I'm a whole month older than Mary. Do you have kids/work? I have 2 boys, 19 and 21, and commute to work every day, ugh. In fact today a rock got thrown up and dinged my windshield sooo bad it's starting to crack already, not happy about that, the car only has 4000 miles on it. You'll have to let us know how it goes with the online trainer and impart any and all secrets! I can't lose the 10+ lbs I gained when I went back to work and need all the help I can get :) I'm the only one that runs here, I try to do about 5 miles a week (I used to do more like 10, but with work and commute I can't get anymore in). I use Cardio Coach mp3's for my runs, makes the time fly for me.

Ronne, You always have so much fun going on with your DD. DS19 will come home today probably to do laundry and for me to feed him (explicitly told me he would be home before dinner, guess that was a hint). Then he wants to figure out what classes to register for for spring since he can register as a sophmore even though he is a freshman because of all the credits he got from AP in high school that transferred to college (24 credits to be exact!).

Mary, interesting way to ride the bike, I just hate riding my bike.

Murphy, hellos to you, hope you are getting help to watch the kids so you can get in your workouts (and that there is no sawdust or boxes or ....you name it messing up your workout area.

Yeah, we get an extra hour to our weekend with the time change, what will I do with a whole extra hour? I'm thinking sleep sounds good :)

Hi girls! It is Friday! Happy day! Today will be card of some sort, most likely not the bike, I am tired of it, I want to start jumping around! The doctors told me to wait 3 more months, tho. I will figure it out. Welcome Wendy! Nice to meet you. As, Lisa said, I am one month younger! I have 3 kids, 12 year old twins and a 9 yr. old. I work part time as a nursing instructor. Ronne, a bonfire sounds like fun! Enjoy your weekend. How did you get into freelance work? Did you work at a publishing company? Sorry if I am being nosy, I just find it interesting! You can tell me to bug off! Murphy, we have missed you this week! Have a good weekend! Mary
