40's Northern lights -- week of 9/13

Hey girls, getting the week started early. I won't be posting for over a week now because I won't have any internet access. I'm posting from Anchorage while I have some access and while I'm waiting for the transfer to the ship. We've hardly seen anything but already think we may have to come back again some day!

Talked to the hostess today at breakfast. They are very nice here, found out another place that is a must do that isn't on our list this time.....Seward.....Kenei Fjords. She said it's been raining non stop for the last month and this week is supposed to be sunny....maybe we will have good weather.

Landing at the airport was interesting....very short runway, pilot braked real hard and my purse moved about 10 inches forward during the landing. Hostess said that the landings here are hard and strong because of the short runways and that Juneau is worse, it's right between two mountain ranges, one little bit to the side and hello mountain. Also Kodiak Island (where she used to live, south of Anchorage) the only way on is by plane or boat and the plane is scary because you either stop or end up in the mountain or in the water. :)

She also told us about Beluga Point which we should see on the way to Whittier, if the salmon is in the whales will be feeding......said most times you only see a little of them (like 10-15)....that's a little?????? She said once there was so many there it looked like New York Central City parking lot. Can you imagine?

We had prime rib buffet last night for $18 each. the prime rib wasn't skimpy either! A good 1/2 inch thick, and Don got 2 pieces....Yummiest prime rib I've ever ate! Breakfast I had Eggs Benedict but with Sitka Sound dungeness crab with hollandaise sauce.....VERY sweet and good! Don tried reindeer sausage (poor Prancer and Rudolph), tasted like polska kielbasca, not gamey.

This will probably be last past for a while because I'm not paying for internet access on the boat! I hope to eat a lot more good food!!!! Oh boy will have have lots of exercise to do when I get home!

Hi everyone

Well, it certainly sounds like Lisa's going to have a good time! It was our wedding anniversary on Sat, so DH and I went out for dinner and drinks in the evening and had a really nice time. We stayed out late because DD was having a sleepover. It felt so decadent!
I didn't get any workouts in over the weekend but I'm back on the rotation again today with 4DS HIS.

Murphy - hoping that you're reading this in your new house!!

Mary - did you have a good weekend?

Well, no workouts for me, the area is not set-up yet. The good news is that officially own the new house. I won't go into too many details, just some highlights. They changed the closing date 3 times, my attorney and mortgage lender kept asking me for paperwork they already had (each time they would say, "oh yes, here it is"), our stuff in on the moving truck and I get a call that the buyers paperwork is messed up and that we cannot close on that day, (same day) we are at the new house with all of our stuff (the sellers let us move in early on the "closing" day) and we get a call that we have to leave! Our stuff can stay but we have to leave. I tell them I don't have a key to the old place b/c I left it on the counter and they tell me to go to a hotel! The sellers attorney tells him to not let us rent for a few days but his realtor appeals to his softer side and they agree to let us rent for 3 days at $300. Next day, verizon messes up our order for phone, cable and internet sevice. It takes them 3 days to straighten that out. The buyers of our old place want money b/c they don't the way a window repair was done, our realtor explains how we had to rent and now have nothing to give to them, after some eye-dagger throwing, they relent. So, they are in the old place and we are in the new place. Oh, you know how once you move in you see all the flaws that you missed? Well, there are hardley any outlets. There are two in the basement, one has something from the phone company and the alarm system and the other now has one of those six-pack converters with the dryer and computer hooked up. I am nervous about overloading the system and adding a tv and dvd player so I can exercise. Yep, good times!

Lisa - have a safe and fun trip.

Ronne - happy late anniversary. How many years? That reminds me, my parents helped us with the home move and spent there 48th anniversary with us. We took them to dinner.

Murphy

Lisa, thanks for getting us started! I know you are having a fantastic time! Murphy, we had to add a lot of outlets to our house also. I don't know how they lived with just one in the entire living room!? I'm glad that it all worked out and it's done! I can hardly wait to see some pics?! Ronne, Happy Anniversary! We just had our 13th, time goes so fast! I did the bike this weekend, today did upper body from MM, (I really don't like the band!) Have a lot of homework with the little one, math, spelling and reading! I hope I can keep him focused! have a good night, talk to you tomorrow! Mary

Hello

Murph - Massive congratulations! I know it's been a complete nightmare but at least you're in your new house now. Enjoy!
Sockets are a bit of a running joke in our house, when we had all the work done last year I said where I wanted them to go in the kitchen and ended up with loads. Everyone who visits makes a joke about how many we have in our kitchen! I always say it's bettter than not having enough ;).
It was our 11th anniversary.

Mary - hope you managed to get the homework done. It's all started off again here as well, this week is spelling, maths, and English.

Today was 4DS KB. I punched a few people out :p. Great stuff!
See you all tomorrow.

This October 12th we will celebrate our 8th anniversary. Funny, it only feels like 80! :)

Mary/Ronne - do either of you remember if the extra outlets were expensive? I am dreading it. There are other minor things to do to the house; I want this done soon b/c I feel like I am overloading the outlets. :-(

Speaking of outlets, I still have not set up my exercise area in the basement. I guess I could do bandwork in the living room but what else? As much as I love band work I cannot do it every day.

Murphy

Hi girls! Today was just the bike and my leg work. Oh, and also work itself! Murphy, we were lucky, one of the guys my DH works with, does electrical work on the side, he did it for us as a housewarming present. Give yourself time to set your house up exactly as you want it, you won't be using the band forever! How are the kids adjusting? Ronne, I really enjoy that KB! Quick and your done! I need to get ready for the cross country pizza party, (somehow that seems wrong!) Have a good night! Mary

Mary - umm, a cross country pizza party? :D Interesting ... Hope it was fun. What did you have on your pizza?

Murph - the sockets were done when we had the kitchen done so wasn't an extra expense. They didn't cost very much though. Could you do a bit of Hiit in the space you've got at the moment?

Today was 4DS BC for me. Just love the cardio in that. I actually managed to use a 30lb barbell for the crazy 8s, first time ever!

Not much on the exercise front, just walking but not even like before. I am so tired!!!!
Oh, thank you everyone for all the prayers, support and etc. I was so stressed out, I appreciate it.

Ronne - I thought about doing Hiit but I am concerned because there is nothing to absorb the jumps, it is hardwood flooring/concrete. The padding I used before is now in the kids play area. My dad is supposed to bring up some "kid padding" (colorful alphabet padding) for the kids to use so I can getmy stuff back. Maybe then I can do something and not worry too much about my knees.

Murphy

Yes, you don't want to damage your knees, you're just going to have be patient a little longer. Rest is always good as well!

Today I did an ASC3 premix. It was Imax2 on the rotation and I just didn't feel like it. I've got so used to blasts and High intensity stuff that I find steady state tough now. Variety's good I guess.

Mary - where are you? did you eat too much pizza?!!

See you all tomorrow.

I feel like I have been doing a lot of walking. I stepped on the scale and it was not too bad, considering I have not been exercising. I guess the stress induced lack of appetite has a positive side! I cannot believe I am still too tense to relax. Anyway, I hope the rest of you are having major DOMS for me. Keep up the good work!

Hi girls! Sorry never made it here yesterday, just running around with the kids and such, sometimes I just don't know where the time goes. If I just didn't have to sleep? Today I had to go to therapy and I did the bike when I got home. She said I could try to step as long as I just go up and down, no turns or anything, doesn't sound like it would be a lot of fun! Murphy, how is the house coming? Still surrounded by boxes? You will get back to your regular workouts, be good to yourself, moving is one of the most stressful things in life! Ronne, I understand what you are saying about the steady state being challenging, I have been doing intervals on the bike, today I just did a steady pace, all I did was watch the clock and wait for the end! Talk to you tomorrow! Mary

Murph - my triceps are still hurting from Weds, how's that for DOMS for you? It's Friday night, so give yourself a break, have a glass of whatever you like and put your feet up (even if it's on a box! :D).

Mary - the therapy must be going well, that's good news. Sounds like you'll not be on the step though till it gets a bit more interesting ;).

Today was PS Legs. I like it because there are lots of little breaks all the way through, it makes it not seem quite so difficult. I wish some of the later DVDs were like that.

Not got much planned for the weekend, might go to a garden centre and get some stuff to plant for next year. Hope you both have a nice weekend whatever you're doing.

Still feel like a slacker exercise-wise. I should probably enjoy the downtime b/c when the area is set up I will have not excuses. Not as many boxes around so that is good. DH has not done much in his area, but the rest of the house is coming together - thanks to me I might add. Well, thanks to me and my parents who helped me. :)

Mary - good luck with the continued therapy progress.

Ronne - keep up the DOMS for me, I really need it.

Murphy

Hi everyone! Just did PH, I am able to do squats now! Yeah me! (but with only 5 lbs) It is a start. Now I am washing the floor, so I don't have to do it this weekend! No big plans, just going out with friends tomorrow night, hopefully get some lazing around in! Murphy, how great your folks are helping out! Do they live close by? Mine do, they can be helpful at times! Ronne, you are forward thinking! Every fall, I think, I am going to plant some bulbs, it only happens in my head! Hope you all have a good weekend! Talk to you on Mon. Mary
