40's, July Firecrackers

Hey, posting from salon, getting foiled and cut along with dd the eldest. I did tabata x 3, core 2, biceps and tri via sts m2w1 this am. Mary my parents were divorced and mostly mia. Oh shit dd hair is short! Cute! Anyway, ronne hurrah for internet. Lisa and Murphy, hi. Ttyl! :)

Did a 3.15 mile dog walk, then SC (with lots of mods/substitutions and lower weight--1/2 WAY thru and my upper left trap did it's same old hurting thing). Added on 3 tabatas (3,4,5). I then really tried to get the left shoulder knot that was forming out as best I could on the foam roller.

Jody, hmmm, I'm getting flashbacks of another time I went to Daytona with one of the "bad" girls....LOL.

Mary, Wow, cheating with GS Legs, couldn't you have picked an easier one? I'm trying to embrace liking working LB, I keep telling myself it burns more calories!

Ronne, Connection/Computer problems are the worst, glad you got it all sorted out (she says with a British accent :). ). I just finished a book where the author was British and her writing looked a lot like your posts so thought of you. I'm pretty sure I'll make my original goal, but I've revised it since I'm making good progress, will see. I decided that I may not be able to control the recovery of my injured muscles, but I can control what I put in my mouth and how much I work it with what I can. And heck, it's a good Segway into Daytona beach road trip!

Hi all. Was away these past few days visiting family. Went a little crazy with the food and the no workouts did not help. I swam every day but not enough to burn off what I ate. So, felt the need to do a Hiit today, 30/30. Much better than I remembered. ??? I tried Shaun T's Rockin' Abs and some other ab thing yesterday. It's not for me. It was a strange setup to me, they had an audience and the exercisers did a lot of (or it seemed to me) dance moves and head swings. ??? Yeah, not for me. I am trying to get my workout on, not my groove on.

I have one more dvd to sample, piloboxing. I'll report on that tomorrow - hopefully. After that I am done. I wanted to sample the Tonique but it is in high demand and I don't feel like waiting. BTW, what is Tonique?

Waves to all.
Murphy

Good morning! Today did PT and a Gilad upper body I found on YouTube. It wasn't bad, simple. Murphy, tonique is basically squats and lunges of every variation, really it's just torture! Glad you had fun! Lisa, I think you are going to have. Ball with the "bad" girl! Jody, how's the hair? I'm sorry about your parents. That must have been hard on you. Ronne, how did yesterday go? Raining here, think i will clean! Lol! Have a good day! Mary

2.7 mile HOT dog walk, then did PRS1 (1 riser for first 1/2 then no risers for rest so that I could enjoy the spinning around without killing myself).

Mary, how are you feeling after doing GS legs yesterday? I've recently added in some of my PT on the foam roller for my shoulder blades/upper back. I think it's helping to keep it from hurting as much (left shoulder blade hurt with the dog pulling on my left arm, I think I have a knot forming.... wondering what caused that.... can't wait to talk to my massage lady to see what she thinks.... believe it or not, I'm wondering if it was the few chest flies I did because I felt like my chest was pulling in.... I'm wondering if working chest is counterproductive for me......)

Hi everyone

Late check-in. Summer holidays started so things start going a bit erratic.
Well, they wanted me back yesterday to check out one area further. I had more mammograms (really painful this time) plus ultrasound, then they did a needle biopsy. I'll get the results on Friday. I'm sure it's nothing, they're just being ultra cautious. Got to take it easy for a couple of days, no strenuous exercise and no showers! Nice in 27 degree heat!
Hairdresser for me today, so at least I got my hair washed!!

Lisa - it was funny what you said about reading a Brit author. I sometimes have to try to write in my language not yours, as it's easy to be influenced by the way you all write! I hadn't realised it was so noticeable!! :)

Mary - yes, GS Legs as a cheat! That makes me laugh, though I know you like working your legs!

Jody - I think you and Lisa will be able to whoop it up in Florida. Staying up late, getting caught in the pool when it's closed, bingeing on cocktails. There won't be any time for workouts!

Murphy - good to see you. Hope you had a nice time with family. Don't like the sounds of those abs either.

Did the Piloxing today. Another one not for me. It was rounds of boxing with rounds of standing pilates. Have I become an old foggy and now all this dancing bugs me? Or maybe it is because I cannot dance. ??? Plus, she was not wearing shoes and that always makes me wonder if that is a safe thing to do. Two dancers had socks and one had sneakers but the other 3 or 4 were barefoot. This is another dvd I would not buy.

Mary - thanks for the Tonique info. How was the Gilad? I used his series a long time ago. I still see him around but have not done any of his stuff in a long time.
Ronne - good vibes going out to you.
Waves to all.

Murphy

Yep, more good vibes for Ronne.
Murphy, what service are you using to rent workouts? Not that I want or need more options!
Mary, me fun in high school? I was more like Heather Moony from Romy and Michelle (the girl who smokes and says *f* a lot.
Lisa, how many hours are you working out today?

I did 2.8 jog/walk- mostly slow jog except break to pet a passing Corgi, Tonique squats and a slow version of SC. First day at new place was good. It is a long drive but other than my Check Engine light coming on, it was all ok. More drama at other job, I'm working nights there tomorrow. TTYL

Murphy, the Tonique is warm up/drills consisting of about 5 min jumping jacks and jog, etc. Then 15 min of various squats, next is 19 min of various lunges. then (?) min of mat work. I did the squats today, but didn't match instructor's pace.

Today was 2.6 mile dog walk (I love it when they are good and it's relaxing--yesterday wasn't, today was). I then tried Plyo Full body strength (or something like that). These moves are all getting repetitive and I just can't do it without putting too much weight on UB, so I'm shelving it. So after 15 min of that, I put in RK. I then did my foam roller on my back/shoulder blade (like I did in PT but with bent arms vs straight), I found a knot that as I slowly moved my arms it shot the pain up my neck, I think I found the culprit area for what causes pain and what to avoid (arms out to side moves and weight on my UB and to stop letting the dog jerk my left arm and instead encourage her along more gently instead of a jerk on the leash with left arm and of course using about 40% lighter weights that what is on my w/o sheets).

Ronne, we are such a bad influence, I figure for an editor you must cringe at how we write some things. I'm sure they are being overly cautious, they can't find anything firm so they keep trying the next test. Good vibes for you!

Jody, I was hoping to see the scale move today but it didn't :(. must be because I ate more than I should have (but I was hungry!). A bit tired of being "good" with the eats, sigh.

Murphy, I never heard of piloxing, I'm always disappointed when I stray away from Cathe.

Mary, have you done any of the UB parts of Cathe's KB w/o's? I bet those would work for you. She says if you give it your all on your punches you can get your HR up....I have to be gentle with my punches (and darn if sometimes I'd like to punch hard to get frustrations out! I soooo wanted to add 1/2 lb gloves but I knew better).

Hey, has anyone noticed that your weight may be same, but your waist and hip measurements are higher than they were at the same weight 10 yrs ago? In looking at my measurements from my early 40's they were smaller at this same weight, boo! Is this the dreaded middle age spread?

Hello! So late today! Had to pick up DS and his friends from yearbook camp, 2 hours each way. Then had to take him to orthopedist for knee pain. He has to get MRI, thinks it's another stress fracture. Poor kid, cross country just started. Today just did PT and the bike. Murphy, I will avoid piloxing! Doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy! Jody, I think we all had our issues in high school! You most certainly sound like you have worked thru them! You are always so full of joy and spunk here! Lisa, I didn't feel too bad after GS, just my hamstrings were sore, which I loved! I have been doing the boxing workouts, when she jumps I just do squats. Most of my PT exercises were in the w/o, I just used 5lb weights instead of my usual prior to surgery. I have never taken my measurements! Only my bra size! Ronne, sending you positive thoughts! Not much else here, hope all is well with everyone, Mary

Hi everyone

Good news, I'm clear! Nothing to worry about, totally benign and harmless. A relief :).
Did KCM Stepboxing 2 to get back into things this morning. I think the heat is sapping my energy a bit.
Just been baking some rhubarb crumble muffins with DD. We're having a pamper night, doing make up and nails tonight! (and eating muffins!)

Mary - what a drive! That is bad news about his knee, poor thing.

Lisa - fortunately, I too have nothing to compare with. Never measure myself but I am wearing a size smaller than I was 10 years ago, so that will do for me (I know dress sizes have got bigger to accommodate our increasing girth!). And no, none of you are bad grammarians or writers! Just different language! :D

Jody - glad new job went well :). Tonique does not sound like my kind of thing at all.

Murphy - I could never do anything called Piloxing. It sounds too much like pillock which is a word for an idiot, e.g I'm such a pillock, I forgot to turn the oven on to cook dinner. :p

YAY Ronne!!!! What a relief! Enjoy spa night! Today did a walking workout and PT. Might be a pool day......hope everyone has a good day! Mary

Voot voot voot for Ronne! : D I'm not sure I will do the Tonique too often, but I did do the lunges section after I got home this morning.
Mary, rereading your post where you mentioned bra reminded me that I have a bra that fits ok when I put it on but then it sags into a boob sock and it is annoying. : P
Lisa, I hope tomorrow scale moment isn't too sad for me.
Today while waiting for my car at dealer, I did about 4.5 miles of jog/walk along intracoastal waterway where I was blessed to find a poopable bathroom along the way. TMI. The check engine light on car was b/c gas cap wasn't secured and that sets off the warning light so it was no big deal, plus they cleaned out the AC cabin and changed a filter since it has a mildewy smell sometimes when I first start car and ac- which is not nearly as nice as new car smell.

Only did 2.1 mile dog walk then did KCM weights full body (Kelley's fav premix) and KCM quick fix cardio wo#1.

Jody, The scale movement seems to have slowed down for me. That walk sounds nice and glad you found a "place" to "go". Who didn't tighten the gas cap enough? You or DD?

Ronne, yippee for the good news! I must have jinxed you with my false positive story. I hear about heat sapping your energy, I felt that way today. One more day of 90's (we've had 8 in a row, too many!).

Mary, Those kids sure keep you busy and out of trouble!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi all

Lisa - doesn't sound like the heat is sapping your energy from the list of workouts!! Very impressive.

Jody - thanks for keeping us informed of your 'movements' :p.

Mary - hope you had a nice time at the pool

Yoga today, another selection from Happy Hips. My hips weren't very happy at some points! Movie night for the two of us tonight - popcorn and the Golden Compass.
Just got Post Office card, I've got to pay a charge on the three DVDs from my Cathe preorder. Bummer! £14.50 altogether. If I have to pay a charge on the new series when it comes it will have made it very expensive. Might have to rethink buying DVDs in future but I'm not really set up for downloads. :(

XT Legs done as well as BG Abs. I actually had DOMS from my running or Tonique, this was essentially my third day in a row for legs, and it also rounds out week 6 of my version of XT rotation. No wt loss this week.

Ronne, that is a bummer about the dvd up cost. It might be more manageable if there were fewer DVDs and series to get, but even w/ Cathe alone, there are so many offerings that sound appealing.

Lisa, I think it was me who didn't tighten the gas cap. It turned out ok though b/c they did the AC fix which I probably wouldn't have addressed.

Mary, are you enjoying the walking workouts? I've never tried one. How often is the drive to yearbook camp going to be?

I worked a full night shift last night. I've got to figure out a way to sleep after that. I wake up and wander around like a zombie for a bit, then sleep for another hour or so- off and on until the day is gone.

PS Ronne, dd the eldest says bad choice for a movie! she had to read the books for a book club years ago and seems to be carrying some resentment, lol.

OMG, Ronne, I just googled your upcharge. That is like 25 US dollars? For three dvds? 8 O

I just put a batch of black bean brownies in the oven. Then I also found my glass dish in there along w/ the 2 sweet potatoes I "did ahead" about 2 weeks ago. I'm such a Pilox!

Mary, I think I'm going to stick w/ Tonique until I've at least got that cute/prissy little turn she does when she transitions from one side to the other! The voice over reminds me of Susan Harris in the Firm vol 4. Sheesh, now I want that dvd.

CW cued up and ready to go. Waves to all.

Saturday the dog grilled me into a walk of about 2 miles, then I did a 30 min reformer jumpboard w/o, my core is feeling it today. Finally turned cooler today so dog walk wasn't forced upon me and went for 2.3 miles or so, then did 35 min of spin and 35 min of Pilates on the reformer... it seemed hard, my legs were toast after spinning but I figured I needed a good stretch.

Ronne, your tight hips weren't happy? My one tight hip gets that way too (yes my body is lopsided). :)

Jody, I hope you find an answer to your sleep, shift work is hard. I worked the midnight to 8am shift for almost 3 yrs (thankfully I was young and bounced back easily), but I did burn the candle so much at both ends that I went on a date to the movies with a guy I was seeing, he was so tired too, and he fell asleep and I thought if he is sleeping I'll sleep, we both woke up when the movie was over. What a pair!!?!?! I don't know why but I always thought you liked barre.

Hello! Yesterday did bike, PT, and heavy bag from RK, today did PLB, again, don't tell! Yesterday we had 2 grad parties, today DH did a tri, took 2 minutes off his time! Lisa, glad your heat broke. So humid here, I wish it would just rain all ready! The air is so thick! Jody, do you think tonique is a challenge or is it just me? Her outfits kill me! Probably cuz I'm such a prude! Haha! Ronne, is that like an extra tax? That would get me wound up! Who gets that money? Hello Murphy! Well, have to share a home remedy I came across because it was truly a miracle! I had a canker sore the size of a watermelon, it was making me nuts! I googled remedies besides the warm salt water. Found one to rinse with pickle juice. No lie, the relief was immediate and the thing was gone in the morning! Just in case anyone else ever gets one! Well, have to get to wash, have a good day! Mary
