40's - ending the year in style

Hi girls! Did PS CS&T today. Lisa, I will have to try the coconut oil! We have an EarthFare store that just opened, I will look there! Roxie, send me all your chocolate coconut! Love it! Also the smell, reminds me of vacation! Murphy, are you and DH having the best week ever? Sounds like heaven! Jody, when do you go back to school? Survived the dr's for another year! Starting to clean up Christmas, have a good day! Mary

Lisa, no, she wasn't very helpful! I said I wake up @ 4 in the morning, she offered me Ambien!? Said that way I would sleep and miss the hot flashes!? I saw coconut oil @ EarthFare, it was $15, is that about right?

Good Evening,

Tonite I did Total Body Tri Sets Express and got a great workout I was finally able to do the ab work.

Mary, I've had ambien, it doesn't work for me. Tylenol PM or benadryl works better! I only take those when I HAVE to get some sleep and only at the beginning of the night. If I wake up at 2 or so, I'll take a natural sleep product like Valarian or this other one I can't remember the name of(can look it up if you want). Not sure if it's the natural sleep aids that helps but mosttimes I can get back to sleep (after an hour of reading, a little snack), as long as it's not WORRYING that's keeping me up.

This is actually the coconut oil I bought:
Monoi Tiare Tahiti Ylang Ylang Scented Coconut Oil -- 4 fl oz - Vitacost
I don't know WHY it's in a bottle since it's a solid mass right now, in order to be liquid room temp has to be above 68 (however I think room temp has to be higher than that cuz it's still solid--our house temp is set at 64). Right now I'm sticking my finger down and getting a pea size amount (I don't need much). Come summer, once it is liquidfied I will put in a different container. I've seen a tub at Whole foods (not sure of price there), at the time I didn't think I wanted that and bought jojoba and sweet almond oil, but now that I've tried the coconut, I see why everyone is in love with it!

Went and got a new stereo for the van. Body shop claims they did nothing to it, it will cost an arm and a leg for Honda to do anything with it so we bought a new one....insurance compensated part of the cost. While we were waiting for them to install it, I did a bit of shopping. Got some Aloe socks at Bed, Bath, Beyond. DIL who has a cosmetology license said to use my oil with aloe socks for my dry feet. The cotton socks I've been using are probably absorbing more of the oil than my feet are :)

Hey, I thought this was a workout checkin! Oh, yea, Roxie, good job on your workout! :)

Good Morning,

Tonite for me is Slide & Glide.

Lisa-this is a whatever we want it to be checkin. I learn so much from you guys when it comes to hair and I need to check out those socks I have really dry heels.

Good morning! Did AB this morning, I did a little better. Lisa, the oil I saw came in like a canning jar, it had directions on how to cook with it? I usually take excedrinpm, helps my hips and makes me sleep! Roxie, I have bought those socks before, they do help, but then I wake up hot, I like to stick my feet out of the covers at night when I get hot, cools me off right away! So no socks while I'm sleeping! Jody, you still dancing? Murphy, enjoying the quiet? Well, off to shower and I think we will go shopping today, see if there are any good sales! Mary

Running late this morning....thanks for jinxing me Mary, I woke up at midnight and couldn't get back to sleep so took a PM (I take the formula that is just the PM part --generic). Or maybe it was those socks! I'm like Mary, my feet get hot when I sleep and I have to stick them out of the covers. But when I go to bed they are ice cold (esp in winter) so I start in socks, the cotton ones are easier to kick off than these gel ones. But my feet are so dry I'll put up with it! Oh, my w/o was MMA KB. Easy!

Mary, that doesn't sound like the right coconut oil to me. Did you look in the skin/hair/body section? MAYBE the cooking one would work, but I'm weird about putting something for cooking in my hair/skin, etc.

Roxie, I think it's WONDERFUL learning from each other. And sometimes I think it's easier to ask those stupid or embarrassing questions on the internet :) How did we live without it!

Murphy, did DH get the internet hooked up?

Jody, sometimes I feel your workouts put mine to shame, are you making up for lost time? lol

And of course our holiday Queen is still on holiday, albeit a staycation maybe?

Whew, cooling down after Lowmax and gonna get some abs in a minute. The slamits or slap claps jam my neck up, I need to modify somehow.

Lisa, I like heat and and maybe a little pain, lol. I did get to class last night but tonight is salsa which sounds fun, but not so sure I need yet another dance obsession. I will let ya know.

I checked my coconut oil- at 74 degrees inside it is white sludge.

I'm babysitting two little boys today for dd who has come down with cold and sore throat and is unable to perform her duties as babysitter extraordinaire.

I have a friend who nibbles Ambien as needed, I have never tried it. I can't bear the thought of anything that slows me down, sleepytime tea is pretty edgy for me. If I wake at night I try to run thru math problems or say serenity prayer.

OK, here's my next tip.....(this working from home and not being busy helps me research, and consequently spend more).

Someone just recommended this to me, I read reviews and someone said it helped their vertical ridges on their nails(another problem I'm dealing with).

Natural Factors, BioSil, ch-OSA Advanced Collagen Generator, 60 Veggie Caps - iHerb.com

If you order, use code BEV426 to get $5 off, over $20 ships free!

have you heard of Biosil? It's a (soluble) silica supplement you can get as a liquid or capsules (the liquid is less expensive, per dose). I got it for my husband's fingernails which tend to split in winter, but the label cites clinical studies showing that it increased the thickness of individual hairs by about 13%, so I use it too. Horsetail has silica, but it's toxic, even though stores sell supplements. Combined with better hair care, my ponytail actually did get a little more than 1/4" thicker around since I began the silica supplement. To me, that's a big deal. (Nor do DH's nails chip and split as much). You have to put the drops in soup or juice or oatmeal because they taste nasty, but it works. Good for bones too. I get it here (they're often out of stock, it's very popular): http://www.iherb.com/Natural-Factors...-ml/23158?at=0
Totally OT (daily trivia), soluble silica is the most bioavailable form, plants also use it, it improves their resistance to fungal disease.

Good Evening,

Tonite I did Slide & Glide but not the all the burpees and pushups slept with my wrist bent all night so it couldn't take my wt. This is the first time I was able to do the ab work and it felt great.

Lisa-thanks for the tip.

S&G for me today, stopped at the muscle conditioning (bicep part). I don't like the muscle conditioning in this one or the AT one.

Roxie, I always have wrist problems. I have to use a mouse that is like a joystick. Once I'm off the computer (ie. not working 8 hrs a day at computer) then it eventually gets better. Otherwise intense carpal tunnel. I also do my pushups on yoga blocks (or high step topper--that one is harder but better for those you are up and down).

Good Morning,

Tonite for me is suppose to be Turbo Barre but since it is so long I will do it tomarrow and Saturdays workout is suppose to be BM2 but I don't like that one so instead I will do KCM's Circuit Blast tonite for BM2.

Lisa-I just slept wrong kept my wrist bent all night.

Hi girls! Today did PS B&B, got my new workouts yesterday, tomorrow I am going to try Squeeze Stronger. Last night we met some friends, we saw a band called "Disco Inferno"! i do have to say I felt young and skinny with the crowd that was there! Fun music tho! Anyone have New Year's plans? DH is at the fire station, it will be me and Ryan Seacrest! Roxie, those are long workouts, especially 2 days in a row! Lisa, I don't care for those bicep curls with the band. Murphy, your kids home yet? Jody. did you salsa? Going to hit the shower, have a good day! Mary

Hi all,
I did S+G for first time. I modified and played along in a lot of the push ups and did the cardio burpees at much slower pace but overall thought it was a fun workout and it didn't kick my ass too hard since I was modifying.

I babysat last night instead of doing dance. I loved mothering a 2 and 4 yr old, can't say as I enjoy babysitting a 2 and 4 yr old. I have two friends in mid to late 40's who are either pg or have kids under the age of 3 in addition to 3 or 4 other kids. Glad it's not me. : D

Mary, band sounds fun---burn baby burn!

Lisa- yousa and meesa betta walk away from the internet shopping sites! Also, if you want your coconut oil to liquefy, try leaving it in kitchen near stove next time you cook or bake.

Murphy, Ronne, and all, hope you are heading into a fun weekend.

Mary, you sound like a hoot! I can only imagine the fun going out with you, throw in Jody and wowza! I have no plans for the 1st, let's go do something! The thing with the muscle conditioning is if I want to do weights I want to lift some weights or do high reps with lower weight, otherwise I just don't feel like I'm getting anything out of it. I'm sure it's because I tend to slack off on the exercises I don't like!

Jody, No internet spree today, I actually had work (I've been spoiled and didn't want to do it). I think I'll go into shock next week when I have to go into the office. I'm glad I had my kids when I was in my 20s. The thing I'm realizing though is just because they turn 18 or graduate from college doesn't mean you are done parenting! I'd have to cook to get some warming benefit in the kitchen! We got pizza last night, tonight I will have to make something. DH is on vacation and is acting like it! I have to REMIND him of the things he needs to do (like car stuff). I have to still do the cooking (especially with DS19 home--he needs more food than us!)

Roxie, I probably will never do TB again. Too many w/o's to do one you don't like, right? Hope your wrist is better. You must have REALLY slept on it wrong!

We've been watching movies on our home theatre system. Loved The Rise of the Planet of the Apes (didn't think I would). Final Destination 5 3D thumbs down! (and we enjoyed the previous final destinations. Looking forward to The Contagion when it comes out Jan 3rd. Warrior was really good too!

I think I'd like to stay home and watch movies with my girls on new years. I was thinking the LOTR movies, but maybe planet of the apes? Hard to find a movie we all like, that one of us hasn't seen already and doesn't wish to view again. Now, do I invite bf? He doesn't like movies and sometimes he talks during them which can annoy others. ahem.

I am suffering from either apathy or severe relaxation today. yawn.

Ok, have to tell someone, little freaked out. Had my mammogram on Tues., they called today, they wanted more pictures, I was ok with that, I have to have a biopsy, they saw some calcification. Said they want to be sure, I'm just a little scared, have to wait until next week to see surgeon or get an appointment, then they will schedule. They said 85 percent chance it is nothing. Ok, done venting! Thank you!

Oh Mary, try not to fret (easier said than done). I fret when they say they need more views ----that has always happened to me and I freak out for a week then find it's nothing (and ins doesn't cover 100% for add'l views---tried to fight with them one year about that but gave up). It's all a sore spot for me, I swear for a couple of times I spent a good $500 for an ultrasound for nothing! I'm betting yours is nothing too, even though now it's to a biopsy. Does breast cancer run in your family at all? I just reread your post, did they do the add'l views yet? That part was unclear. I assumed they had since you mention biopsy.

Jody, We all enjoyed the apes. And yea, that's irritating talking during the movie! We are watching Trespass tonight, have to find something for tomorrow night.
