40 & over checkin - week of 9/21

Hi All,

Just stopping by to keep current. I feel like I am missing out on something if I don't check the forums. I hope everyone is well and sore, sore and sore some more.

Andrea - I have an 8 1/2 month year old and a 3 1/2 year old. Can I count my DH as my third child? :)

Lisa/Mary - I love Tastefully Simple too. My parents and MIL like it too but won't buy anything, they just come over and steal my stuff. I was thinking of buying the Pine Nut basil but did not know what to make with it.

Hi.

Quick question.

How on earth Do you go heavy for sholders?? Over head presses to be exact. AS you know, I going through my "Jari" phase, but I cannot cannot CANNOT, go heavy (by heavy I mean 8lbs) for a full sholders track. Last nite I started at 6lb, lasted all of 10 seconds! I then had to go to 3lbs. In all her sholder work I am using 3lbs.

Anyone else?
Any explanation?

Hi again! Andrea, I was just reading your post, The absolute heaviest I have ever gone for shoulders is 10 lbs., I am in the same boat with you, when I do Jari, it is only 3 to 5 lbs, I did find 4 lb weights, I wish I had an explanation for you cuz I need one too! Gotta go, Grey's Anatomy is starting soon and I gotta get these kids to bed! Mary

Andrea, I can't go as heavy as Jari either. I started with 8 lbs for the overhead presses last week after a long hiatus from her because I thought that I surely could do more than 5 lbs. Uh, nope, I couldn't. I'm going to do her ripped and chiseled Friday. I think I'll start with 6 using the pace weights to see if I can even do 6 instead of always doing 5 (and then needing to drop to 3).

Murphy, so are you going to order the pine nut basil? I also did up a rice with it. It was pretty good. I've been pouring over all the tastefully simple recipes on their website and I think with my Oct 1st order I'm going to get some of their cookbooks. Heck at 36% off with my consultant discount, my DH says, go for it (he likes what I've been making). So what's some of your favorites?

Power Hour

Good morning! I did Power Hour this morning -- realized I haven't done it in ages!

Regarding the shoulders question: I can go very heavy on shoulders -- can do military press with 15 lbs. (not for a million Jari reps, though!). However, my DH really struggles with shoulders when he does Cathe's workouts.

The only answer I can think of is that the variety of ways Cathe has worked my shoulders over the years has really built up my strength. When I started working out, I couldn't military press even 5 lb. dumbbells!

I should clarify about DH: He works out during the week and uses very heavy weights. However, I don't think his form is always good and he doesn't do so many reps. So when he does Cathe with me on weekends, he really struggles with the number of reps and the slower pace that she uses. It's good for him -- he needs to mix it up more!

Mary, Sounds like you have your hands full! I can see why you have to investigate the screams -- it's two against one at your house!

Murphy, you can count your DH as your third child. I do!

Ronne, I would love to avoid grocery, cooking, and dishes! You are lucky to have a DH like that! But he's lucky to have you, too!

Lisa, Imax 2 was so much fun! Why isn't Imax 3 as much fun? There's a major dread factor with that one!

Well, off to do housework, then go to work! :D

Hello All
My apologizes as I haven't been checking in much .

Yesterday I was totally off the pc and spending time with my dh as he was off .

I'm feeling much better health wise although I do feel a bit of a scratchy throat so I need to get some zinc and airborne to nip it in the bud so to speak.

I refuse to get another illness.

I am geared to start up on a new rotation come Monday FF Sept 08 Leg Blast

Or if I buy a kettlebell I saw at Target I may start with it maybe

I also plan on CCPP tomorrow

Hope all have a terrific weekend.

Hi everyone,

Just dropping in to say
3121534e7e501b6d1a41798b6275b647f6b4f1c_t.gif
. I finally broke down and went to the doctor today. I attempted to do a short TB w/o this morning and thought I was going to puke half way through so I quit. I have bronchitis. No big surprise. ;) My general rule of thumb is to give these things 2 weeks to run their course and if not significantly better by then, seek help. Anyway, I have some antibiotics and potent cough syrup. I'm looking forward to the cough syrup tonight because I've not been able to sleep at night. :D

I hope to be back and making up for lost time next week.

Hi everyone, I did Jari's R&C today. I managed 6 lbs on the Overhead presses then dropped to 4 when Jari dropped. So, improvement for me so that's good.

Vilma, So glad you are going to do CCPP tomorrow!

Rhondalyn, I can't believe you are still under the weather, you take care of yourself!

Hi to Mary, Kathryn, Murphy, Andrea, and anyone else who follows. Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies! I had to post to say I did the CCPP + challenge! I think I had an angel with me as I seemed to just fly through that workout. My legs felt good, my breathing was good, I could have went longer.:p

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hello Ladies!

Lisa so happy you did CCPP - I be doing it tonight since my day is super busy plus ermmm I'm kettlebell shopping lol

I found some Ader kb and thinking of getting the 18 and 26 # as my starter kb and returning the 15 # from Target.

The prices of each is 60 and 81 from two different sites the 81 has shipping included and the 60 $ one only has 3 dollar shipping since I'm getting it with TKBW dvd.

I wonder if thats good or if I should continue shopping around.
