4 Day Split - First time out...

I just got 4DS this week and was having a hard time deciding where to start, so I opted for the Kickbox plus Upper Body workout (103 min.) to try out a lot of the sections at once. The KB part was great and fun, some familiar moves and some new, the workout flew by, and is a perfect cardio add on for a day with weights, not too hard, but I worked up a good sweat. I liked the fast upper/hook combo a lot.

So the upper body combined back/chest, shoulders, bi and triceps. This was beyond a thorough upper body workout, I kind of pooped out a bit when we hit triceps, and even had a small protein shake to get through the bi/tri section, I did end up skipping a few sets and modifying some of them. The 3 sections each had 5 rounds, 1 of the rounds involved using a band, and the others used really heavy weight.

One very cool feature, is the pre-mixes combine workouts from both dvds, not just the one you are using, so there are so many different ways to workout with these 4 workouts.

I can see the workouts on their own will be super effective, so I might go with the more traditional approach of using them closer to how they were designed to be split, but I will always sub the step with either the KB, bootcamp or another 30 minute cardio.

Sometimes I wonder 'what took me so long' to get something, but I'm so glad I waited on these until I needed something new.

I really like the way the sets were put together, and the focus on using heavier weights. And even through this longer premix I was never bored or counting the minutes until it ended. I was however pretty spent by the end :D.

Thanks again Cathe!

Do you not like step work-outs? I love both of the step work-outs in this series.

Sadly, I really can't stand step workouts. Not for a lack of trying, I have tried a few, but just something about them I can't tolerate.

I also really like 4DS for its versatility. I like to use the double cardio premixes and do the weights on a different day. I love the step choreography and its good to only have to remember 30 minutes of choreography at a time;)

Im another fan of 4DS. I'm in the middle of this rotation now. Today, I did LIS and shoulders, calves and core. Man, the shoulder work is murder, but boy will hey look tight and taunt tomorrow.

Good purchasing decision, Deta.

I did this one today as well gonnabea5 and love it. I also agree with Rapidbreath, I like doing just a 30 minute step routine and then moving into weight. I guess it makes me feel accomplished b/c I'm working on endurance and stamina with w/o's like IMAX2 ect.

I'm going to start using the premixes b/c they sound like alot of fun. Someone posted a rotation Cathe put out a few years back that is all premixes so that's going to be the next thing.

Love, love, love 4DS :)

No kidding about the shoulders, that sequence of shoulder work may have given me the biggest burn ever, I had to take a couple of minutes before moving on to bicep and triceps.

I did the 4DS Upper Body Weights Premix today (67 min) - my first 4DS premix and really enjoyed it. My arms were cooked afterwards and it felt great...I will definitely do that premix again and recommend it.

Dela, I'm sure that you will love the Bootcamp workout as much as the Kickbox.

Enjoy!

The bootcamp does look like a lot of fun, I think I am going to do it tomorrow combined with one of the 4DS leg workouts.

I'm doing this rotation now and loving it! I have had this set for about a year I think and sadly have mostly only done the kickbox/core portion. I had done Boot Camp and Low Intensity Step and a few of the weights but with this rotation I am realizing how much I have missed out! It is an awesome set and I love how much it covers in just an hour! I need to check out the other premixes.:D I have done the kickbox so many times I think I could almost do it without the DVD! I love on the High Intensity Step how Cathe says, "Hello, here we are!"

So, gotta say I have some pretty impressive DOMS in my shoulders, upper back, and a little in my chest from yesterdays w/o.

I did do the bootcamp today combined with the lower body/core section. I loved bootcamp, it was so much fun, tough but fun, I was just praying DH did not come downstairs when I was running around that step, haha :D. Very different and inventive drills in this one.

I am not a huge fan of all lower body workouts in general, but I can handle 1 a week, this one was really good, and I didn't mind doing it at all, although it helped knowing it was only 30 minutes and the last circuit was core. The workout itself seemed very effective. I even started regretting not getting the new pre-order LB workout for a few minutes (until we got to those low end squats, yikes ), but between this and STS I really do have plenty of leg workouts (for now :p).

This is such a complete system, I'm really happy with this purchase.
