30 Day Shred Q's

Hi all!
I did a search on Cathe and did find some threads about 30 Day Shred, but I still have some questions...

I was thinking of getting this workout and I was wondering:

1. If any of you have this DVD, did you do the entire 30 days and if so, what type of results? (ex- starting weight with ending weight, did you tone up, lost fat, etc.)

2. If you use these DVD's, do you do them everyday?? Are they meant to be done everyday for 30 days? What about resting your muscles?

3. Did you combine these workouts with other things such as Cathe cardio, or other types of cardio/strength work?

4. Did you find the 20 minutes was "enough"?

Thanks in advance for responses. I really appreciate it because I've searched all over on-line and I don't see any of the above questions answered! People just say either yes they like it and got "good results" (but don't elaborate), or no they didn't like it.

I consider myself an advanced exerciser so I don't really want to waste my time if it's not going to challenge me, but I'd really like/need a change.

Any input is appreciated!

Hi Christine,

I've just started exploring with 30 Day Shred when I had to take a mini-break from heavy lifting.

I don't feel 1 - (20 Minute segment is enough) if you are at an advanced level. I haven't done Level 3 yet, but I would do at least 2 of the segments back to back. I really don't think an advanced exerciser is going to find that just one segment from 30 day shred is going to be enough of a workout. I love the idea that I can get strength and cardio in one. When I did Level 1 & 2, I burned a total of 470 calories, which is more than I burn with many 60 minute workouts, so I do feel this is a good workout video, but not the way they marketed it. I definitely feel I could do all 3 segments in one session.

I don't think I'd ever do this video for 30 days, but for a beginner, it would probably be great. I think this is a great workout to do along with other cardio or weight videos too.

Have you done any of the workouts yet?

I have 30 day Shred. I use it more as a filler. Like I am doing a rotation right now that gives me 2 days off a week – I don’t generally take two days off so on one of the off days I’ll do segment 2 of the 30 day shred. I have not used it any more than that so I can’t tell you how effective it is. I feel pretty worked out after 20 minutes but I’m just trying to supplement not replace a workout, so I’m probably not being very helpful.

Thanks for your replies!

I haven't actually ordered it yet, but I found it on-line for $7, so for that price I might as well just try it out!

Thanks,
:)Christine

Someone asked Jillian a question on her recent podcast about 30 day Shred. They wanted to know if they should do it everyday. Her answer was no, don't do it every day, mix it in 3-4x/week with additional cardio to lose more weight.

Thanks, Cindi!! That's good to know! I figured doing it on consecutive days would not be smart anyway because the muscles need to rest. I was just wondering what Jillian said about it though because I could not, for the life of me, find this answer no matter how many web pages I checked last night!

Thanks again!

I took 30 day shred on vacation with me. It worked as a short workout a few days a week in a hotel room.

No problem - I found it and listened again. It's on the 12/21 podcast (in the last 5 minutes of the podcast). You can search on iTunes to get them (Sunday, KFI640).

First she says - don't move up a level until you are comfortable with the current level.
Second - I was a little off. She said she recommends 4 times a week, maybe 5.
Third - Be sure to incorporate other workouts into your week for variety - add cardio, fitness class.

She also mentioned a new set coming out in the spring that will have 45 minutes workouts. She jokes that the background exercisers were crying it was so hard. (She called them dancers-LOL).
