30-40 min STS style strength and cardio rotation help needed

I only have a very short amount of time I can devote to working out each day. Can anyone suggest an effective rotation where each workout is no more than 30-40 minutes total, with either total body or splits (and cardio) workouts to sculpt/tone and improve fitness? Ideally an STS style of workout using only timesaver/shorter premixes etc from other workouts. (I don't have STS as unfortunately I can't fit the longer workouts into my day.)

Check out Cathes Dec 09 rotation some of the workouts are 49 min but most are under 40.

Do you have 4DS? When I am short on time for an extended period of time I do half of one of the workouts, cardio one day and weights the next and then by the end of the week I have gotten my entire body worked and a bunch of different types of cardio to boot. Plus there are such great premixes.

In fact most of the December rotations are shorter since most people have so many holiday activities going on.

Also check out some of the premix rotations or make up some of your own.

Thanks so much mabdoo for your great suggestion - I've just bought 4DS and plan to follow the same type of rotation you did. I'm assuming you still get results working out this way. I'm also considering buying all the Gym Styles purely for the timesaver premixes which run for approx 30mins to mix it up a bit.

ETA:

Actually, what I REALLY want is an super-timesaver STS style of rotation. I don't have STS since I can't fit the longer workouts into my day but would love a rotation which follows a similar style but uses premixes etc that only go for 30 - 40 mins.

Hi mjd

Don't know if you have the Body Blast series, tons of premixes in that one on each disc, you could probably make some great rotations from that.

Hi Linda
I have all of the Body Blast workouts (they're my favourite!) so thanks for your suggestion. I have just received 4DS and wow, it looks absolutely awesome! I also splurged and bought CTX as well, as I like that it has the shorter workouts on it too but was a bit concerned that it might be a bit dated now. Cathe, you're sending me broke!!

I hope cathe comes out with some more 30 minute weight workouts. Currently I only have 30 minutes as well and have been creating my own circuits and doing my own cardio. I miss cathe but I can get so much more done in 30 minutes on my own.

Hope to get there, to 4 DS, by X-mas, I like the style of the CTX, Timesaver, 4 DS, anything that takes the guesswork out, & goes together for the week, helps me stick with the program! I don't always spend a lot of time either, and the premixes are great for that.

opened my wallet today, it said "do not pass go, go directly to Cathe.com!" it's a conspiracy, that is!

If you'd like to add some variety try Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred, Burn Fat Boost Metabolism, and Trouble Zones. All workouts are 20 to 40 min tops and you get a very good workout. You can always up the weights to add intensity.

Also Tabata style work outs are great 20 min intense workouts, you can find lots of ideas on youtube. Also check out bodyrocktv.tv for more short intense workouts using only body weight.

Good luck.

Carmen.

Hi Carmen, thanks for taking the time to reply however I have to say I am definitely not a Jillian fan. I'd prefer to stick with Cathe's dvd's. Thanks for all your suggestions though - hopefully they'll help someone else reading this who is also interested in shorter workouts. Personally, I've tried loads of other workouts and always come back to Cathe - we all know she's the best!

You can also search Cathe's Rotations, I think I remember seeing one using premixes in the DVD Rotations thread
C & W has a cardio premix that's not too long, LIC has total body, and step premixes that come in around 45-49? LM has the shorter step premix, minus the blast.
