2nd trimester bladder issues... :-(

Hi there,

I've read so many times that the 2nd trimester is a "great time", the "honeymoon phase", and there are fewer stops to the bathroom. Not so for me. Over the last 2 weeks things have gotten much worse, I sometimes have to go 15 minutes after I just went!! It's truly annoying. And I haven't had any bathroom problems since 8 weeks, so it's really bumming me out.

I have a Dr's appt this week and plan to mention it. My guess is that it's the position of my uterus against my bladder. But I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

If you've had the same problem, I'm sooo sorry! Thanks for chiming in.

Best,
CG

Yes, I am experiencing this too. I am nearly 15 weeks, and I get up a minimum of two, but usually three, times to pass water each night. The other day, I passed water, went out for a walk in the park, and not 25 minutes later (no bathroom in sight), I had to go again. My husband finds it amazing because normally I have a super capable bladder and he is the one that always needs to find a bathroom.

Hi Manmohini,

Sooo sorry that you're going through this too. I feel your pain, I went for a too long walk in my first trimester and got stuck with no bathrooms in site and had to creatively figure out a way to go discretely, too embarrassing!!

Mine isn't so bad at night, just during the day. It's gotten slightly better since I wrote this, so I completely forgot to discuss it with my midwife. We had too many other maladies to discuss - ear, sinus, and allergic skin rash stuff -- ahhhh the wonders of pregnancy!

I called later and they arranged a special urine test for Monday. Not sure exactly what they're testing for, probably a UTI? We'll see.

My midwife did warn me that I'd begin experiencing sharp pains in my hips and lower abdomen due to ligament stretching. My uterus is growing fast and moving above my belly button...I guess that's when things start to hurt. Funny, today I'm feeling exactly what she mentioned and so glad she warned me!

I hope your situation clears up soon.

Best,
CG

I completely sympathize. I am 28 weeks along and the past couple weeks I feel like I spend more time on the pot than anywhere else! My family had taken to making fun of me, saying I will need a pot nearby constantly in my third trimester. I suspect my issue is the fact I am carrying this baby very low, so he is pushing on my bladder constantly. And I drink a lot of water, too. Let's hope both of us get through this phase soon!

i am 18 wks along and during all my workouts i have to go several times. when i go for jogs i have to find discreet bushes :) i figure it's my uterus pressing against my bladder.

oh the joys of pregnancy!

Hi there,

Just to follow-up. My problem was due to my uterus growing and pushing on my bladder. It's moving up slowly and this has changed the urge and frequency for now.

If you're going all of the time your Doctor will want to check to see if you have a bacterial infection or something else. If this goes unchecked it could be harmful to you and the baby, it's worth giving an extra urine sample. :)

Best of luck to all of you, may there always be a bathroom in sight when you need it!!

try to drink water through out the day, you might want to see if you don't have a low grade UTI to....i get my urine checked everytime i go to doc for a check up
