2011 NEW YEAR'S STS CHALLENGERS-WEEK OF 1/23

Cathlete
Hey guys. just finished my workout and came on here. I just figured I would start us off for the week. I just finished 4 DS BC Cardio only premix and the pilates-based abs. I forgot how much I love the 4 DS series. The cardio in BC was great, and short and sweet, which I needed. This was the first time I did the pilates-based abs and I really liked it. So far I really like all the ab workouts on the Abs Circuit disc. I still have to try yoga-inspired abs though.

What is everyone doing today? We are supposed to be getting more snow this week, ugh! I need to go someplace warm and tropical!

Kristin

Hi Kristin!
I just saw your post for last week's thread! Oh, well! I love 4dsp as well! Ab circuits are great too, but I find that I have to really make sure my form is correct with these!! Otherwise, I will feel it in the wrong places!! I absolutely have to modify with a few as well....If you like pilates abs, you will like the yoga abs. Get ready for those levitation holds!!!
Yep, more snow here in CT., for the middle of the week!! Oh, yeah, I'd put the STS and clean eating on hold right now for a warm tropical place and drink(or 2..)

Hi all!

Just finished KenpoX with DH. Very challenging to to kicks in the same amount of limited space. but we did manage to avoid each other. Kind of strange - my back and triceps were achy this morning until I started moving, then were fine (kind of the 2 day post weights). The glutes of course were feeling it, hence the need for a kickboxing wo. And needed a good one, because DD decided that she wanted to make cookies, and sweet talked DH into running out to get some butter. Not helping with the clean eating!

One more week of Meso 1 - looking forward to it!

Now off to get some more paint. Love the new look in the bathroom. Decided that the cabinet should be painted, too, so DS sanding it down, and I'll give it some color. (I watch way too much HGTV and DIY!)

Kristin - Thanks for getting us started on a new week. I like 4DS, 'specially Kickbox and Boot Camp - my 2 favs by far. Like the weight work, too. and I am liking the STS Abs so far also. Very glad I got it with the rest.

Nancy - Awesome workouts this week! As for eating, trying to eat cleaner this round (DD's cookies aren't helping). I'm slowly trying to get in together.

Julie - Hope the stomach bug leaves your house soon!

Off to the store to get paint. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Morning.

The early bird is checkin' in! :D

I wasn't such an early bird y'day though! Ask Sherry, she'll tell ya! ;) LOL

I wasn't feeling well all morning so I thought y'day was going to be a rest day. Thankfully it passed though and I finally got my w/o done last night....Disc 6 and the kicking premix from KCM k/b and skipped abs. I had wanted to do cardio and abs from CTX k/b but by the time I was working out, there was no way that was happening. Just so glad I got a work out in there! :)

Today's plan is cardio and abs.

Gonna be a bit of a long day today. Had trouble sleeping last night. I was in bed before 9 but didn't get any solid sleep until 11 or later. When getting up by 4:30, falling asleep for the night at 11pm is simply not going to cut it. *sigh* :(

Not enough time for personals right now but I'll BBL with them!

Sorry I've been MIA. I took a few days off because of heavy cramps. Kind of sad lately. My boxer had a cancerous tumor removed and I've been spending time on dog cancer forums. It's very depressing to read the posts from people who lost their dogs to cancer.
My guy's prognosis is pretty good. The biopsy showed clean edges (meaning they took all the cancer cells), only hoping he doesn't have some hiding elsewhere. The pathology prognosis is -guarded, meaning we have to keep an eye out for more tumors.

Yesterday I did disc 4 for the second time, today is disc 6. Legs are my favorite!

Fit mommy, get rest! Don't push yourself if you're too tired.;)

Kristin, I love the 4DS too!

OMG, I feel bad for all of you getting hit with more snow... I hate snow!!!! I won't drive in it, and luckily I don't have to, but I hate being stuck in the house.

Sherry, congrats on the new bathroom color!

I managed to push out Intensity: Hi HiiT + Bootcamp and 1/2 of 6 week 6 pack w/o #2. I was a tired sweaty mess when I was done. :D

Cynthia:: Aww your poor pup! Hope all goes well with him now that he's cancer free! IKWYM about cramps. That was part of my problem y'day morning which delayed my work out. At this rate if I skip w/o's every time I have sleeping issues, I'll almost never work out!

BBL~

I just finished legs. I want to cry with all the low end lunges!!! OMG! Note to self....never take fish oil on an empty stomach before working legs with Cathe. Between the pain and the fish burps (sorry TMI), I was feeling rather queasy.:(

Thanks fit mommy! We are giving him lots of supplements attacking it from a holistic.. You all may find this interesting.....I purchased a book by a leading veterinary cancer specialist and he recommends BCAA's for dogs going through chemo to preserve muscle (also has other cancer fighting benefits). His brand of choice is very expensive, but I thought I would mention it....Juven. Go figure!
I will say that I feel they help me recover a lot faster than when I'm not taking them.

Ok, I did disc 4 with 30 min. cardio and Core Max 1 this morning. I am feeling it!!!
Sherry K: Oh yeah, its so hard to eat clean when there are cookies in the house!!!! I'm trying to limit junk in the house, but its hard when you have kids who want to bake!!!! And I am usually the one who eats the most of them:eek:
Wendy: Good for you on getting the cardio and abs done! Not enough sleep sucks!!! I am lovin' intensity!! Just got that one last week with my STS!
Cynthia: I am glad to hear your pup is doing better. Nobody wants to see their baby suffer!!!!

Anyways, I'm sore, hungry, tired, cold, and sunlight deprived; but I love STS so far!!! It will get me through this winter!!!

Hi Ladies,

I've been rusty w/my check ins averaging every other day, but I'm hoping to be back to a normal schedule soon.:)

This morning's workout was IMAX 2 followed by STS Stability Ball Abs. Cendrine, if you're reading this it's now my favorite!:D (Today was the first time I tried it.)

I am absolutely loving Meso 2! I have awesome DOMS in my biceps and mild ones in my back from yesterday. Feels great!

I have to go to a dinner but hope to catch up when I return.:)

Julie

Hi everyone!

Taking a rest day here because, well, I need it. I'll hit it again with the weights tomorrow. (I might just be dreading more push-ups!) BTW - the bathroom looks great!

Wendy - Going to be at 11 seems to be the norm around here, hence my difficulty with 5 a.m. Bet you beat me tonight, too!

Cynthia - So sorry about your pup. We lost one of ours a few years back to cancer. Love the fish oil comment!

Nancy - tired, cold, sun-deprived - sure you aren't in Michigan? But with STS, think how great we'll look when the sun does start shining again!

Julie - Check-in when you can. Don't the DOMS seem well earned?

See you all tomorrow when I have more energy.

Disc 10 completed!!! Two more to go and then meso 1 is done! I am sp psyched. i am most excited about that fact that there will be no more crazy amounts of push ups!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

Sherry- I hope you enjoyed your rest day. Glad to hear your bathroom looks great. Does this mean you are all done with that porject?

Julie- IMAX 2 is one of my all time favorites! Maybe I'll pull that one out for my cardio this week. I am looking forward to meso 2. Cannot wait!

Kaylasmom- doesn't Intensity rock? I love teh music and the variety of movements put together. I also love that you can make it short or longer with the premixes.

Cynthia- too funny about the fish oil, lol. sorry to hear about your pup. At least the biopsy went well, that's a very good thing in itself. I had a boxwer when I was a kid. he was all-white, which are rare, even more so back then because you cannot breed white ones, so some owners would drown them. We named him Rocky (After Balboa) and he was a handful boy!

Wendy- nice job with the workout today. I am interested in the BC section of Intensity, but won't try it until after STS. I am a wimp and do not want to look at weights on my cardio days, lol.

Well, I think that's it. Good night all!

Kristin

Good Morning.

Wow, do I have some DOMS in my lower body from Disc 6. I started having mild toilet seat issues (LOL) y'day afternoon at work so I just KNEW this morning I was gonna be groaning and I was right! Love it! ;)

Today my plan is kickboxing with Kimberly Spreen and some abs.

Cynthia:: I've never done the BCAA thing. Don't know much about it. The only think I ever did was drink protein shakes for years until I realized all it was doing for me was upping my calories w/o satisfying hunger so I finally quit them. The gym I used to be a member of/work for sure made some yummy ones though! :9 Oh and I also used the BB recovery drink which I enjoyed but again, a bunch of extra cals that in the end, I'm not so sure were worth it for me so I gave that up too.

Kaylasmom:: I can only pair cardio up with STS weight work on the weekends. I already get up at the butt-crack of dawn during the week. Not gettin up any earlier! LOL For this reason I have only been doing 1 STS upper body work out during the week and reserving the other 2 for the weekends so I can get more cardio in each week. It's working out well so far. Kicks my arse but in a GOOD way. :) IKWYM about being cold/tired/sunlight deprived. I spent all of the milder temps day outside on my lunch break from work. It was great and I can't wait til I can do that again...

Julie:: IMAX2 is a universal fave I think. Kinda like STS Meso 2 apparently. We have a big group here. No worries if personals lag at times. It happens to all of us.

Sherry:: If I went to bed at 11 every night I would NOT get up at 5 either. I sure don't blame you there. You gotta follow a schedule you can handle. Hope you enjoyed your rest day.

Kristin:: The BC section of Intensity isn't bad. Keep the weights light and you'll be fine if you wanna give it a go while doing STS. So you are almost done with Meso 1? YAY! I have a long way to go yet...darned 6.5 month rotation I am doing! :p And I don't get a recovery week until I'm all the way through Meso 1! I thought she might provide one half way through but nope, gotta push through the entire 8 weeks first!

Ok, I should be caught up now. If I missed someone though, it's not intentional...it's 5am. ;)

Hope everyone has a great day!

ETA:: Got KS Absolute Kickboxing: K/B only w/ standing core segment done this morning. Felt great! :)

Hi Ladies,

I officially wimped out this morning. I did Disc 19 (Shoulders, Chest, and Triceps) and for some reason I just could not keep up with the flat bench tricep extensions. I honestly wonder if I recorded my weight incorrectly or something.:( I had to go down like half the weight in all the sets!! Oh well, I did fine on the other exercises so maybe it was just a fluke, but I do have pretty weak triceps.

But I have serious DOMS in my abs from the STS stability ball abs I did yesterday, so I'm happy about that!:D And my entire upper body is feeling it as I type. I was super hungry today, one thing that kind of gets me confused on this program.

Wendy, LOL at the toilet seat issues. That's when you know you're in trouble.:D Sounds like a nice workout for you this morning.:) And IKWYM about the sleep. I get up about 5 and if I'm not asleep by around 10 I'm in trouble the next day (like today:p!).

Kristin, I'm with you on the pushups. I have NOT missed them on this mesocycle! They're probably my least favorite exercise (that and one legged pike raises:eek:). Congrats on coming so far on Meso 1!

Sherry, good job listening to your body when you need a rest day.

Nancy, I am so sorry...you've been on here like a week maybe? and I haven't really even introduced myself! I am just finishing Week 2 of Meso 2. This is my first time through STS but I've been doing Cathe's workouts for almost a couple years. I have five kids (I'm a stay-at-home mom) and my life gets a little crazy sometimes! I have the same problem with junk food in the house. I wish I could get everyone to eat like I *wanted* then I wouldn't be so tempted! And I'm guilty of eating the baked goods too.

Cynthia, I'm sorry about your dog. That's so scary! I hope all will be well for him! I haven't tried the fish oil yet (we have some) but thanks for the heads up!

Hi to everyone else! Hope you're still checkin in!

Oh, by the way, I'm thinking of taking advantage of the DVD sale to supplement STS. Anyone else?

Have a restful night...sorry for the long post!

Julie

Well, it's 10:00 and just got home. Hence, no workout, no D10. Needed to run around with the kids, get to a parent mtg, etc. ARGH!

Kristin - You promise that's the end of the crazy push-ups? That's enough incentive to get it over with! Tomorrow!

Wendy - You are too funny! Hate how those DOMS make some normal activities difficult. For me it's been turning the steering wheel when the pecs are fried.

Julie - I'm struggling with hunger, too. Find that I want to munch a lot. Need to find more willpower, which can be hard when I'm tired and hungry. :(

Well, tomorrow is another day. See you all at the gym then!

Good morning all! sorry I was MIA yesterday. I was very busy. I did get in a workout though, Intensity step and Lo premix plus med ball abs. I know I say it every time, but I just love Intensity.

So it looks like we are going to get more snow tonight, ugh!!!!!!! I am sick to death of the white stuff.

Sherry- hope you get to do disc 10 today ;) the last of the pushups, just keep telling yourself that, lol.

Julie- a few times I have had the same issue where I thought the weight was too heavy because I could not lift with good form anymore. I think the heavier we go and push ourselves, eventually we will get stronger. I definitely feel stronger in this last week of Meso 1. I did the alternating bicep curls with 15 # on Monday plus weighted gloves. I couldn't get through those with just the 15 # the first time, so I def. see a difference already. I alos think that I am hungry more often now too. Maybe it is a comobo of the winter weather and doing STS? I always want to eat more in the winter time, lol.

Wendy- no recovery week in between? Oh man, I am so looking forward to next week, lol. Hang in there. I wonder if the results are different with the longer rotation.

Okay, that catches me up. I will bbl, hopefully without crickets ;)

Kristin

Hi Ladies,

No worries, Kristin. Glad to know I'm not the only one with a crazy schedule!:) You are enabling me every time you mention Intensity. Wow, 15# biceps curls is awesome! I don't remember what my weight was for those, but certainly not that high! I do feel I'm getting stronger, I just was a little concerned why I had to go down soooo low.:( But my triceps are seriously feeling it today so it must be a good thing!

Wendy, I will be so curious to know how you like your results with the 6 month rotation. I would seriously like to try that next.:)

We got pounded with the snow today so no school today or tomorrow. I'm happy for the kids since we haven't really had much.

I took an unofficial rest day since I had a queasy stomach all day for some reason. Hoping to hit it extra hard tomorrow with some cardio before legs!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Julie

Quiet these last few days. I just finished disc 11, one more to go ;). My triceps are screaming right now. They were shaking during the last exercise, close grip bench press.

So, we are getting more snow overnight. I hope my school closes tomorrow. I hate driving in this stuff. I always feel so tight, and so by the time I get to my destination I feel as though I have to peel my hands off the steering wheel, lol.

Julie- Intensity is awesome and has so many premixes it is well worth it, ;). My biceps and back I can left pretty heavy with. My weakest muscle group is shoulders, I think. I am hoping they are getting stronger through this program though. Where do you live that you got snow today? we are getting hit hard tonight.

Kristin

Push-ups are done! Biceps and shoulders fried. Then did medicine ball abs - not the smartest choice with fried shoulders and biceps, picked it because it's the shortest. Tomorrow should be fun driving - whenever the pecs are sore I can feel when I'm steering the car.

As if painting the kids rooms and then the hall bath wasn't enough, we're now venturing on to the family room and foyer. Our new sofa is being delivered Sunday and I don't want to chance getting paint on it. So, by the time we go to bed Sat night, it will be done. As if I don't have enough going on, my parents might be coming this weekend, finally. They'll help out with the painting and such, but I need to get the guestroom together before they get here. When we were working on DD's room, some of the stuff was dumped across the hall in, you guessed it, the guest room. Very much looking forward to the STS "rest" week next week already.

Kristin - I can do 15# curls with my right arm, but only 12# with the left, so I've been sticking with 12 hoping the left catches up. Still, biceps are feeling it now. I think the pecs are just numb from the push-ups.

Julie - Hope the tummy feels better tomorrow!

Snow overnight here, too, but just a couple of inches. We'll still have school, so heading to bed. Sleep well and see you tomorrow!

I'm really behind in checking in! I did back/tris Tuesday. Yesterday took a rest day. This morning...tried to do Jari Love's new bootcamp and couldn't do it. It is not good at all. Doesn't flow very well and I couldn't take it after 10 minutes.:( I ripped it out of the dvd player and ate some breakfast.
I'm going to do Imax 2 later today. I need a workout with some fun moves and good music!;)

Julie, Sherry, I'm struggling with hunger too. I'm always this way in the winter months though. :(

I feel for you all who are getting pounded with snow. Keep warm and safe!
