I have been doing a lot more bike riding for my cardio now that the whether is nicer and it feels good to be out in the fresh air.

I am looking for a good pair of biking shorts for my longer rides on the weekends. I have seen the padded ones in the bike store. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am also looking for a bike trainer for the winter months and when it is pouring outside.

I heard the cyclops fluid trainer was a good one.I would love any feedback. I will contact our bike shop but thought someone hear might have one or one they really like. Thank you and have a good day.

I'm not a biker but my husband is a big timer. He only wears Pearl Izumi shorts. They are very expensive, but they last and the padding is wonderful. You can save a little money buying an REI brand or another brand but in the long run the Pearl Izumi's will last if you take care of them. They will breath and cushion your bottom. He also likes the overalls because they don't creep up - but they are super expensive.

We have a few friends who use winter trainers and I will ask around for you.

Thank you Melissa

that would be wonderful if you could ask your friends I would really appreciate it.

I will check in to the paddded shorts you mentioned also. The bike store I shop at have padded shortd and I think they are 60.00 or more but if they work on those long rides well worth the money for me.

Thank you so much

Deb:)

I have a gel seat cover for my bike and it is wonderful. I've tried on the padded shorts but they were not comfortable for me. The seat cover is great-I never have a sore butt and I do some pretty long rides.

shorts

Deb, more important than the brand, is the design. Buy 6 or 8 panel shorts. I don't care for Pearl Izumi's compression. Love Shebest & Sugoi shorts. Terry has a great reputation (but they run small).

i normally wear performance brand ultra elites. they are comfy and have a nicely designed chamois pad:

i don't like performances gel century shorts (returned them) or regular century shorts...

i've heard good things about the upper end of pearl izumi shorts.. i have the "attacks" and like the performance ones better!

performance has 20% orders over $100.00 right now... so if you are ordering a couple of pair, or other stuff... now's a good time!

oh.. the ultras run a bit small.. i wear an XS pearl izumi and a small in the ultras.. so you may want to buy up one size! i wore these for a century and had no chafing whatsoever!

oops! forgot about the trainer! hubby and i both have the cyclops fluid 2... he chose it originally cuz it got the best reviews! and i got mine.... well.. same reason and cuz he likes his so much (of course i hate riding the trainer and avoid it like the plague! i'd much rather be outside! but in the winter.. even in the desert.. that's not always possible in the winter!) i also recommend spinervals! hubby also like carmichael's... i haven't done those yet... but coach troy is just as evil on a bike as cathe is with her workouts!)

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

Thanks everyone for the info on the bike shorts I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the info on the trainer.I am confused!! Are there different programs you use with your trainer? sorry I don't know much about them. Coach troy? Does your husband hate to use his also. Are they quiet? I heard they were one of the best.

Maybe I will stick to my treadmil in winter. I workout early in the am before work. I am not a night person. I get up at 4:00 and get my workout out of the way. I plan to use Cathe in the winter but I also either want to bike or jog on my treadmill. I find I have better results when I mix this type of workout in with Cathe's weights, kickboxing ect.

Sorry for all the questions have a nice day and TIA:)
