1RM tests in process...

I was going to freestyle STS but after reading the User's Guide decided to do all the tests. I sat down and drew up a plan Word so I could do these tests and manage to do the more important tests first and not work any muscle groups on consecutive days and it really helped. I did most of the back, shoulder, and biceps tests yesterday and only have about 8 more BSB tests to do. I did all the chest and tricep tests tonight and will start on the leg tests tomorrow. It's already been a very enlightening experience. As predicted, I can lift considerably more weight than I'd thought, which may explain my stymied progress or a while back...

I can't wait until all this prep work is over and I can actually get started. I've been previewing discs and am very excited.

Anyone else wishing they'd already done all their 1RM tests?

I am also in the process. It was surprising! I could lift much heavier than I had thought. That was exactly what I was hoping for from STS--a push out of my comfort zone. It really is not as difficult as I thought. Tho there are lots of exercises many are repeated so you don't have to do each one on each disc. Once you get into it it moves right along and is not as time consuming or tedious as I thought it would be. I am very glad I decided to do this and not just guesstimate. I am not as organized as some. I just go thru each disc on the 1RM site doing them in order and then print out the card. Now I really can't wait to get started.

This was what I had asked a couple of days ago. While doing the testing process should I not do any regular weight workouts? Otherwise the 1RM results will be compromised?

I have just finished Cathe's Feb rotation so I decided to take a week off and do the 1RM and just some walking with Leslie or some yoga.

I'm alternating my testing kind of like this (though the actual days are different for me):

MON Testing back/shoulders/biceps
TUE EST (Energy Systems Training or Cardio)
WED Testing Chest/triceps (all done in one session)
THU EST
Fri Testing Legs
Sat EST
Sun Off day
Mon Testing back/shoulders/biceps (all finished today)
Tue EST
Wed Testing Legs (hopefully, all finished today)
Thu EST

I'm finding now I'm actually glad I waited to do the testing because I can pop the disks into my laptop while I'm standing in my workout area. I actually did Legs tonight and if I hadn't had the disks to watch the move I would have gotten it wrong... A LOT! Many of these moves are completely new to me so the disks are important to have during testing, I think.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much Stacey!! That helps alot. I wasn't going to watch the discs while testing but I definitely will now.

Thanks for this post. I just finished my 3-5 star 1RM's on Friday, and will focus this week on the 1-2 star 1RM's, and will go back and re-do any 1RM for which I had more than 20 reps, and increase the weight to get a more accurate test. I should then be ready to begin with Cathe on 2/16.
