12 weeks & counting - yay!

I posted here when I first learned I was pregnant, I was worried about miscarrying, etc. Well, I've made it this far. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat a few days ago, and boy was that exciting! I'm a first-time Mom, so I bet this is probably old hat to the veteran Moms out there, but I was surprised at how emotional the moment was! The pregnancy just didn't seem "real" (despite exhaustion & nausea) until that moment. To hear that little heart beat pumping away was really wild! I'll probably really go nuts at the ultrasound (which they're not doing until 20 weeks). I am embarassed to say that I haven't exercised this whole time. I've been SO tired, that I just couldn't face it. My doc said not to worry, and to just start when I had more energy. I ordered the Cathe DVDs, so I may make that my official re-start date, taking it easy of course!

How Exciting!!

We are sooo excited for you. ...and a baby's heart beat NEVER becomes old-hat. There is nothing like the miracle of hearing it the 1st. time!! (Each and every baby you have!) Hope that you get your energy back, cause you are going to need it for the new Cathe's !! Hee-Hee! Congrats & let us know what you have.

Not old hat at all

How wonderful for you, Sarah. Babies truly are a miracle.

And I still get misted up over listening to my babies' heartbeats: and they are 3 and 5 years old.

Baby's heartbeat

I still get "teary" too when I think about the first time I heard both my babies' heartbeats. They are now 2 and 4. Keep us posted on your progress. We're pulling for you!

Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm glad to hear that the emotions of hearing the heartbeat are not just my hormones! I hope everything continues to go well. I'll pop in with any questions I may have - you're a great group to ask! Thanks again - Sarah

Wonderful isn't it?

And don't worry about your workouts. I didn't workout all summer cause I was so sick. I am 19 weeks and have just started up again. Enjoy the next 6 months!

I just started regaining my energy!

I'm currently 16 weeks and I hadn't really worked out for a couple months. I took it easy to start and I must admit I'm slowly getting back into it.
I haven't heard the baby's heart beat yet but I had to go for an ultrasound around the 12 weeks stage due to twins running in the family and being big for my date. Ultrasound only showed one although I'll breathe a little easier after my next ultrasound.
Friends of mine have a neighbor who recently had twins....Never showed up on the ultrasound!!! Was a big surprise during delivery.
Just call it a hunch but I think there may be more than one there. My Nana seems to think I am having twins and she has made her prediction. Fraternal, one of each sex. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm starting to get my energy back too!

Even at just over 12 weeks, my energy is coming back to a certain extent and I don't have the strong aversions to some foods that I used to, although my taste buds do seem to have changed a lot! Nothing spicy for me right now, thanks! That's amazing that twins might not show up in an ultrasound! What a wild experience in the delivery room! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! Can't wait to see what you have - 1 or 2! - Sarah
