•.•. CHEETAHS •.•. Marathon Sunday…Go, Linda!!

WAY TO GO LINDA!!!! WOW!!! You ROCK!!!! I cannot wait to hear all about it!!!

Shelly - too funny that you saw someone else running! There is hope! Some how I think tapering will be tougher for you than running a marathon. :p I liked tail about the dog mayor, too - made me laugh. They were talking about scandal and how they had "dirty" photos of the female border collie who's running - literally - dirty photo's - she had been rolling around in the mud. I love it.

I'm finished with GS Back, and C&W abs. I also go in a 13 mile recovery ride - just did a light ride into the next town and back. One mile from home, I got a flat tire, so instead of trying to fix it, I just called DH to have him come get me. I'll fix it later today. There are worse things in life. Nice headwind on the way out - and I'm glad I rode indoors yesterday - the streets were littered with all kinds of debree (which is why I think I got the flat). Enjoy your days all!

Christine..Well it was not clear for the 16 miles but hardly any rain! Good job avoiding the wine last night. Special sweets are a treat so enjoy! Way to go on the Pedicure kit. Enjoy GS and some abs.

Shelly...Good job on the last 20 miler. Cool you saw another runner. Nope not soggy at all. Maybe a little raisiny looking from the long, hot shower!!

to LINDA on the awesome 4:52 marathon finish!!!! (Thanks Cathy!)

The 16 was fairly dry. A few sprinkles but not bad at all. My sis told me she would not have done the last 3 miles if I was not there. I was pleased she was there suffering with me!! Now some relaxing and Football viewing....:D

Just got finished stacking our wood with dh. Had to check in to see if Linda was back.

Thanks so much Cathy for letting us know.

Great Job Linda. You did so awesome. i can't wait to hear the full report. Let us know how your friend did too. We love you. You are fan freakin tastic.:D:D

Hoory for Linda!!!!!

Hey girls.

Just poppin' in on my way to do KPC.

Noticed that Cathy posted an update for us! Thanks girl!

Linda: You did freakin' AWESOME!!!!! What an impressive first marathon finish time! Get your rest and post when ya can! (((HUGS)))

Gotta go but I should be back a bit later on.....:)

Hey there ladies!

I am up from a short rest. I thought I would try to post my report :)

The best news is that I survived it! :)

I got up at 4:00 a.m. this morning. My sister spent the night with us so that she could ride down and help support us. I was thrilled that she did that! I was so glad she was there! We left the house at around 5:30 a.m.. and got there at 6:30. We had 45 minutes to kill before time to line up.

The temperature started at 43 degrees, but ended up being 75! Quite a bit warmer than originally anticipated! I wore my marathon shorts (with all the pockets) and my long sleeved 1/2 zip tech shirt. In retrospect, I should have work the short sleeved one. Oh, and I also had my gloves.

I actually think that there were only around 400 marathon runners. The rest were 1/2 and relay runners. I am not sure, but that is what appeared to me.

I wasn't nervous at all this morning (thank goodness)! We started off and tried hard to hang back for a while. It felt really good.

Patty needed to stop a couple of times at the potty. We actually had to stop 3 times because one of the ones had a long wait. we waited for several minutes before she decided to go on to the next one. There was a wait at that one, too. Just not as long.

Our DH's and my sis met us partway through to give me my replacement belt of Gu20....but I was still full because I had not drank much yet (it was still cold!). We thought they would meet us later and give us another chance. Well....they didn't. The rest stops were well stocked with Gatorade and water. But for some reason....Gatorade does not do near the job for me as Gu2o. I started refilling my bottles with Gatorade and water. (water for my Blocks). Anyway.....

We breezed right along at a good clip (good for us, anyway) for 22 miles. Then, the dreaded cramps came.! Grrr! I was so upset with myself! It was tough going for me from there on. At one point, my right leg uncontrollably jerked out in front of me and would not come back. I almost fell. I recovered myself and made it through the finish line. This was definitely not the way I wanted to finish! But that is okay! I know marathons are not usually a walk in the park and that there is usually discomfort involved at some point. At least I didn't hit the wall! ;)

The volunteers were wonderful. A guy brought me over a piece of pizza with pepperoni. I ate it for the salt. I grabbed my replacement belt and drank some Gu2o. Ate a cookie....ummm....I think that is all at that point.

DH stopped at a store on the way home and bought me some pretzels and I ate a bannana. I feel pretty normal now....except for being sore and my eyes burning from getting sunscreen in them.

My "unofficial" time was 4:52:19. It may be a few more seconds. DH took my chip off for me because I could not bend over. Bless his heart....he didn't know we had to turn them in! We got about 5 miles down the road and he said, "Here is your chip. I didn't know what to do with it. " I literally freaked out. We turned around and went back and I turned it in. The man said there was not problem....it would be okay!

Please forgive me for not doing personals right now. I can't really focuss with my eyes right now and DH is making me a steak! ;)

Thank you guys so much for all the Cheetah Power Vibes and your support! You guys were on my mind all day!

Linda

Forgot to say that Patty had no cramps or problems at all....except for the potty breaks! :) She did awesome and we crossed together!

Linda

Good evening Cheetahs!

Just finished up my monstrous salad (YUMMY!) and now it's time to kick back and enjoy a good Cheetah fix:D!

First off, of course.......

HOLY SHMOLY.....LINDA YOU ROCK!!!!!

Amazing run today! You should be soooooo pleased with yourself! Sorry to hear that you had a bit of cramping:confused: but, wow, way to push through that! Aww, your DH is too cute...very funny about having to go back to return the chip:). Glad to hear that Patty had a great run, too! Please send our congrats along.

I'll BBIAM with today's personals....

Thanks so much for coming on to see us tonight Linda. I know all of us wanted to hear. I'm so glad you feel pretty normal other than soreness. You did so great. I can't even tell you how great it is to hear your recount. It makes us feel like we were there even though we were cheering for you hear. Your dh is a sweetheart. We shall make him an honoray cheetah. Get some rest and enjoy the steak.

Ah, forgot to say thanks ladies for the hugs for my mother. I really appreciate that! I got to talk to her a bit more this morning and the situation is really *NOT* good:(. Thankfully, the two gentlemen who founded the company are trying their best to save/protect her, but, to a certain degree, their hands are a bit tied (they have controlling interest at 51% but are outvoted by the "executive commitee" 3-2:confused:). She will be having lunch with them tomorrow to try to figure *something* out.

Cathy - I love your latest blog entry:). In my VERY humble opinion I think that your dogged determination to stick with your training program is what got you through unscathed. I'm still in awe at how quickly you recovered! I also love the fact that the scale is finally showing you that all your hard work has paid off:D. BTW, did you get out for a run today or did you get too bogged down in grading:(?

Wendy - Um, I think I would have put those big honkin' guns to good use and shown the host where to shove it:eek:...nah, J/K! But you could have at least scared him a little bit, no? Nice compliment on all of your hard work, BTW! OMG, Joey is just too cute! Um, so where are *your* pics, hmmmmmmm;)? I was actually inspired by *you* to tackle DreadMax...I usually hate it but, for some reason, it was just the ticket this morning:). Hope you had fun with KPC! Love, love, love that one! We'll just have to wait to see what my father does...if he tries to get another job (hopefully) or if he opts for early retirement. We'll see....

Shelly - You know, it's funny cuz I thought of you last year when we set our clocks back thinking "poor Shelly...her 12 hour shift just turned into 13!"...that is until I got over my blonde moment and realized there is no time change in AZ, DOH:rolleyes:!!!! LMBO about your "job security"...ain't that the truth!?!?! Glad you got to see a real live runner today:p! You certainly had a perfect day for a nice long run:D. Christine has a valid point...I never thought of you and tapering...how does that one work exactly;):p:eek:??? Thanks for the prayers...I feel soooo bad for her right now.

Dallas - Sorry to hear about the continuing GI issues. I hope it clears up soon!

Carole - Oh, yeah, I'm sure that hot shower felt absolutely wonderful after your run! Glad you were both there to push each other;). Oh, yummy dinner last night! LOVE carrot cake!!! Um, yeah, I'm sure your little run today more than made up for that one lol. Enjoy the well deserved relaxation and football!

Christine - OMG about the doggie mayor story...too funny!!! I love the "dirty" photos:p..hysterical! Great workout(s) you put together today. Sorry you wound up with a flat today:(...bummer! Glad DH was able to swing by and give you a lift. Glad you ahd a good time at the Diwali party last night and well done on the eating front. Oooooh, Indian sweets???? Oh, that sounds divine! It sounds like you'll put that little pedi set to good use, eh?

Let me get this bunch posted before Earthlink kicks me off again...grrrr:mad:!

Hi Girls!

Just peeked in to check on Linda. Wow girl - you rock!!!!! What a great time and you enjoyed yourself. :) Well, until mile 22. :( UGH! Way to push through the cramping. Cute story about your DH. What a guy! :) He deserves a great big Cheetah (((HUG))). Enjoy your steak dinner and rest week. :)

Thanks for sharing your inspirational story. :)

Nighty-night girls...I hope to catch up w/the rest of the Cheetahs tomorrow.

Wendy—adorable pics. Love the one of Joey snackin’ on the cupcake.

Carole—oh OK—thanks for the title! Yeah, I’m a Denzel fan, too. Thought it was good, but I’d like to see the beginning. That’s great that it didn’t do more than sprinkle for you out there today. Was it a tough 16?

Christine—I do have to chuckle at the lolcats, too—despite the grammatical atrocities that go on there. J Glad you were able to ditch the mug set (who does need 12???) for the pedi set. How funny about the animals for mayor.

Shelly—woohoo on the runner sighting. Glad the 20 went well.

Linda—So enjoyed reading your report. That did get quite a bit warmer than expected, huh? Hey, it doesn’t matter if the end wudn’t pretty—you finished! And in great time! Do not worry AT ALL about the personals. Rest, enjoy the high, and start thinkin’ about Chitown. ;) Congrats again!!

Wendi—I’m sorry your mom’s situation is looking so bleak. And unfortunately, soooo many people are in that boat right now. Scary times! I hope something can be worked out for her...thanks--as I said in the blog, quick recovery must be the reward for being slow. Ha ha J I did not get out for the run, but I did work out. I’m still not done the grading, though. Guess I underestimated how long it would take. But I’m beyond the point of stress now. It's back to Zen mode

all the way.

I did get quite a bit accomplished today, but as mentioned to Wendi, I suppose I underestimated how much needed to get done for school. Oh well. The rest will just have to wait. :) Did BM2 u/b and 30 min. on the EXT while watching Bill Maher.

Have a great night, everyone!

Hi Peeps.

Thanks re the comments about Joey's Halloween pics. :)

So I ended up doing the KPC Kicking and Punching premix today. It was the combos and the ab work. 41 minutes and I was sweatin' but didn't feel like I was over-doing it. It was perfect. The ab work in KPC is TOUGH! I forgot what it's like...it's been so long since I've done it. The roll ins and pikes at the end nearly killed me!

Linda: Just want to say that I feel your pain re the cramping! I've gotten leg cramps with both HM's and my 18 miler! Not fun at all!!!! Congrats again girl! You did awesome!!!! So you on board for Chi-town in 09? :)

I'll catch up with the rest of the personals in the morning!

Toodles!
